  • This is my Vauxhall Vivaro Camper Van. I did the Conversion myself and here is a full Van Tour. The conversion took me about a month to complete and I spend under £3000.00. This is the first Camper Van Conversion I have done and I think it worked out really well. So here is the Van Tour, hope you like it.

    Very nice and clean van. One of the best i found on youtube. Not a comlicated project, just simple, and it does what it has to do, make life easier. I love it!!! i got a Vivaro, 2015 model, and this inspires me to do the same thing with it.

      @@dave-watson Although… I recently watched your own rock n roll build and that’s a thing of beauty! I always felt that the standard metal ones, aside from being super heavy, left uncomfortable looking gaps between the cushions. Yours don’t seem to have that issue. Great channel, by the way. The narration and process make these some of the clearest conversion videos out there :)

    Great presentation. 👍 l have had several self build campervans and l have found taking out the bulkhead is a mistake as it exposes sooo much window space from the front where most of the cold comes from. Also your breath overnight creates a lot of condensation on front screens which is a no no if your looking to go stealth.

    Looks great. Good effort with the build, getting it competed so quickly and learning a new skill with the sewing. One question, did you insulate the cab at all? Do you think it would be worth it? (maybe yes if you have insulated window screens?) See lots of vans on youtube painstakingly really well insulated but then just a thin curtain or something separating off the cab.... Heat loss aside, would the cab and the windscreen not become a condensation nightmare when you're cooking and sleeping in the back?
    Maybe a well fitting insulated curtain with vapour barrier would be a good bet for SWB vans with no bulkhead?

    • @dave-watson
      @dave-watson  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks. Good point of insulating the cab. I did not do it, but I do have a thermal curtain which tightly covers the bulkhead. Seems to work fine, a couple of window and windscreen reflectors would probably help too.

    You've made a good job of that mate. I'm just converting a 2016 Renault Trafic, same vehicle. You used a split charge relay? My 2016 has a smart alternator and apparently split charge relays won't work with them. I guess yours has a normal alternator?

    • @dave-watson
      @dave-watson  Před 2 lety

      Thanks a lot. The van is 2012 and I think the smart alternators came in in 2014. But I'm sure you can get a split charger for the smart alternators too. Hope your build goes well. Thanks

    Super video Dave, just wondering if you had a list of all the items you used that you could possibly share? Also, do you think a vivaro swb could accommodate a toilet?

    • @dave-watson
      @dave-watson  Před 2 lety

      Hi Oliver, I have a video of the cost and materials breakdown for my new van. It's a LWB Vivaro and I will be posting that video next week once I've got it edited. The costs and materials are about the same as this build. You could get a very low slide out toilet under the seat but that would compromise a lot on the storage. Hope that helps. Dave.

      Hi Dave, thank you for your reply. I've just started watching your new build videos and really enjoying them. I would love to get a LWB but I have only been driving 6 months and a little apprehensive about such a big van, I think for the first one ill get a SWB and then move up in a few years.

    I've been told to ask the DVLA to
    Put camper van on the log book
    To get cheaper insurance.
    Your thoughts please.

    • @dave-watson
      @dave-watson  Před 10 měsíci

      Hi, The last time I looked the DVLA had quite strict stipulations as to what they would and would not register as a campervan and it is quite difficult to meet their standard with a small van. I think one of them was the van must have two windows on at least one side, not counting the cab window. I've always just insured mine as a van and because there are no alterations to the actual van that seems to work out. It would be easier to comply with the DVLA standards with a larger van. I suppose that is why these are referred to as "Day Vans" and not full blown campers. Hope that helps and thanks for watching.

      In that van I used the Alpicool C15. Its a 15 litre compressor, top opening fridge. It seemed to work real well. Hope that helps and good luck with your own conversion.

    • @dave-watson
      @dave-watson  Před 2 lety +1

      There are a couple of things. Definitely a swivel seat in the front and I would put an opening widow in the side for air flow without having to open the side door. But I'm happy with the overall layout so not much I would change, I'd make the fridge a bit more accessible.
