    👍The first description as the foil gybe was in view was excellent and very precise, and in perfect timing with the actions shown again.

    Hi Sam, great clips mate. I've lost count how many times I've watched them. In the bits where you're achieving 25 knots, are you reaching - shy, beam or broad?

    I’m slowly creeping up in speed but I think mast angle has helped me heaps… what angle did you run in this video? I’m at 2.7deg rear rake, but read pros are around 3.8deg

    Awesome tips! Love this whole series. One question about this one: What foilset are you on there?

      @@mathcacchia Mathieu me too! ... I can't break 21 knots with my 7.0 Severne Foil glide 2 - 800 front wing with 255 (-2) stabilzer. Been foiling for 3 yrs and raced on regular windsurfers for years. Watching Sam go from 18 to 25 knots so effortlesslyis frustrating. I have studied this video and others and worked hard at it still feel like i'm missing some thing. At least now i'm sure it's me and not my equipement!

    Sam, in one of your videos you're talking about foil specific sails. When they are better than race sails for instance, which I am been using now ?? Is it worth to buy a foil sail ??

    • @Henry-uw1zo
      @Henry-uw1zo Před 3 lety

      I asked myself the same question and went for the full on foil sail. I bought a 9.0 Loftsails Skyblade. Before that, I was saling on a 9.2 and 8.6 slalom sail. The difference is incredible. The foil sail is way more effective, way easier and lighter. At first, I couldn't believe it myself but, to answer you question, the difference between a normal sail and a foil sail is huge. It is definitely worth buying a foil sail if you use your foil gear regularly

    hello,
    can u please give the best translation for the expression or verb : sheet in.
    already read or watched on tutorials but the accurate meaning for windfoil or windsurfing is a mystery for me.

    • @kodoj4358
      @kodoj4358 Před 4 lety

      If you pull your back hand towards yourself and „close“ the sail for the maximum amount of power

    • @MozzySails
      @MozzySails Před 4 lety +4

      Sheet is the word for a 'rope' that controls sails on a sailing boat. To 'sheet in' means to pull in, relative to the hull and wind using the sheet. Sheeting in a sail increases the angle of attack of the sail and increases power.
      Windsurfs don't have 'sheets', but borrow the term 'sheet in' from traditional sailing boats and in context it means increase the angle of attack of the sail. Practically this means pulling the back hand toward you.

    windfoiling is a joke.. speed record is done always by windsurfers not by foiling.. it has no big advantage but has stupid unportable material... i never understand how they could replace windsurfing by windfoiling at the next olympics.

      As a wannabe gps fin speed windsurfer I have to admit it’s easier to get that speed rush doing 24knots on a foil than 35knots on a fin…

    • @boneapaaart5934
      @boneapaaart5934 Před rokem +1

      Foiling is like a continuous windsurfing jump. Not everything is about speed. Foiling is synonym to freedom + unity to the elements.

      It is a lot of hype. Even though the gear is bulky and doesn't work in shallow areas, it is still much more maneuverable by getting you better angles into the wind. It is a lot more fun doing than watching it, from my experience! Top speeds are very slow in comparison, but average speeds seem higher on foil in most conditions.
