Lithiums, calciums, aluminums, (Lithium hydroxide) or an other strong base &and hydroxysteric acid. Some h2O.... Additives/dyes are added to give certain properties depending on application. You make soap essentially. You control ratios during the cook (reaction), to ensure its nearly Ph neutral. Maybe 8 on the base side or 6.8 on the acid side.
I suppose in a grease factory, the machinery doesn't need to be taken offline for lubrication? :0

Copper grease is made to be able to withstand corrosion and high temperatures.

Tackiness is important in many applications, but not all. It's important to specify the right grease for the application.
