How DaBaby Destroyed His Reputation

- DaBaby had a perfect career up until 2020, when everything went south. Through countless different events, DaBaby has cemented himself as the internet's most hated rapper, rivalled only by someone like Tekashi 6ix9ine. This has resulted in many stating that DaBaby is falling off given his latest album only sold 16,000 units in the first week of sales.
We'll investigate these claims, so we can attempt to figure out, How DaBaby Became The Most Hated Rapper Ever.
Thank you guys for watching, like and sub if you enjoyed, SunnyV2 XO ❤

An entire career in music not even based around your music, but around something as unstable as fucking memes. Not hard to see why he fizzled out as well since he didn’t have mega talent from the start
When you blow up on mid talent, you can fall off for anything at any time. DaBaby’s fall off was less about the controversy and more about ppl just got bored of his schtick and the controversy was just an easy excuse to leave him behind.

People like to look over the fact that he also antagonized Megan thee Stallion out of nowhere and destroyed their working relationship for no logical reason. In that same Rolling Loud performance, he brought out Tory Lanez with the initial intention of actually storming the stage while Megan was still performing. Megan had an active restraining order against Tory at the time. Not to mention him doing a song with the man and practically abandoning his relationship with Meg for blog headlines. That turned off many of his female supporters, including myself, who was once a fan of the two's collabs.
Ultimately Megan lied about all that tho anyway right? So he sided with the right person?

Really disappointing you didn't mention the Megan The Stallion incident, I feel like a very large part of his fall off was because of that. It happened at a pretty critical time for him, and a lot of other pretty bad stuff you mentioned had already happened, so he was on thin ice with the public. THEN when Megan spoke out about the incident, because DaBaby was being himself and saying she was lying when she had actual medical records showing what happened, she spoke out regarding violence against black women as well as issues within the black community and their treatment of black women. That significantly affected DaBabys career, as he had done a handful of songs with her and she was still on a steady incline in her career. He effectively ruined their working relationship leading to significantly less positive exposure and money for himself.
Edited for clarity.
Edit: Wow, tysm for 4k likes!
I just want to add that at this time, the trial regarding the event I mentioned is in process. The jury selection has finished, so the proceedings will be starting soon. I'm sure if you're interested there will be more in the news sooner than later.

You are so right. It was actually the Megan Thee Stallion drama that made me check off Dababy.
@@PongoDaMan yeah, and for the most part I don't feel like he leaves out critical pieces of information surrounding the topics he covers, but this is an exception. His videos on average are between 9 and 15 mins. It would not have taken an extra 6 minutes to add the information I wrote in this comment, and even if it did, it wouldn't put the video outside of his niche which according to you is "short digestible content". Adding this information would just make it more accurate, your point is irrelevant. 🤷🏻♀️
There is that and publicly beating people up, at a bowling alley for example and killing someone.
This whole thing left out his biggest controversy yet. His relationship with Danny Leigh and how he treated her😭
One of the points I think some people dislike more than someone who says rude, or incorrect things. Is someone who then apologizes on it, and then says “actually I didn’t mean it.” Then, “no I did mean it.” I don’t think people really like someone who isn’t firm within themselves, and just blows whichever way the wind is blowing.
yeah i can see that. not that i like these artists but i know some artists can do a bad thing, but then stay popular because they don't really try to fight it, and they keep making more music. the drama is definitely still talked about but the artist isn't really feeding into it or trying to fix something they knew was fucked up. Again i don't follow artists that do that shit but i think if you are an artist and do bad things or say things that groups don't like you either need to lean into it or expect no-one to be happy. I honestly think its impossible to please every group online so you have to pick the ones that are working for you the most and stick with it. If you're too wishy-washy you piss off everyone.

Dababy has always been a great example of the importance of knowing your target audience. He is a gangsta rapper who wanted to blow up from the streets. Most rappers like him are vying for repeated play in black communities but no one wanted to hear that shit. No one person I've ever met, in the hood or elsewhere, would ever blast or admit to blasting Dababy. He was popular amongst young white kids: the audience he really didn't want to be associated with. Instead of just playing to his audience and going for the smart money, he kept lashing out against this inevitability. He thought the hood was where he was getting his plays from so it was easy to say "fuck these kids", then when his market share dried up, he started switching up and moving goal posts. But, by that time, it was wayyyyy too late

Idk how or even why but that was his main demographic, it makes sense why no one listens to him anymore. This point is most likely why he has fallen so hard
@Patrick39 fatherless behavior 💀💀
Dababy, the only man who contradicts his own contradictions that contradicts his own contradiction
That last phrase seems to be one of the biggest learnings that come from many, many videos of SunnyV2's videos: If you're famous and accidentally stand into shit, it is NEVER advisable to apologize for your reputation's sake - or maybe ever. Just continue grinding. If you learned something from the incident, live that change through your actions, but even if not, it's better to just stay an authentically flawed person than an unauthentic good person.
Actions express priorities - Ghandi
We are all aware that everyone, including ourselves, is flawed. And that's mostly okay. What's not okay is somebody trying to get attention by pretending not to be flawed.
The thing is that social media didn't ruin his career as he tries to make it look, he did.
He needs to decide whether he wants to apologize or not. He is giving half apologies to keep his tough guy image but at the same time he's trying to look and sound apologetic to stop brands from dropping him.
He needs to just shut up and make music. No matter what he said or did, he was going to have people hating, he needs to do what the DaBaby jn the podcasts said and ignore all the drama.

How the fuck do we let people like that even have a platform for so long. Oh right, because the rap community can just get away with misogyny, antisemitism, and bigotry.

His comment on the flight attendant was rude and sad af like he said it straight to her face. I feel terrible 😭😭😭
I swear I never liked him. He was so full of himself and I knew that people would not like that over the time. It’s funny because I don’t follow him and I just knew that he will fall off soon. I typed “did da baby fall off “ right now and here we are. A human being will never be bigger than the program so make sure to always be humble and down to earth because nobody likes a narcissist. Not even narcissists like himself won’t like him because they think that they’re so above and beyond themselves so they can’t stand a person who acts likewise. It’s so negative and lame. Nothing good will ever come from negativity of all its forms. Jealousy, envy, hatred, undercover hate, spitting poison indirectly, not wishing the best for others, having a problem with people who grew up with you if they’re doing better financially, and most importantly associating yourself with people who have these characteristics because negativity is contagious. Stay positive people ❤. Remember that life is nothing but time. Everyone has a clock ⏰ ticking over their heads and when the battery runs out, it is all over. So don’t waste your time being toxic.
I think another factor of his downfall was how he treated Megan Thee Stallion after the entire Tory Lanez situation. Him & her both kinda rose in popularity at the same time, while they both benefited a lot from collaborating with one another whenever they had a new project coming out. But whenever he decided to bring Tory out on stage during his Rolling Stone performance, it kinda struck everyone the wrong way after the incident had just happened with Megan & Tory and made everyone question how close DaBaby was with Megan.
Also, when he said his homophobic things at the live show it sort of did kind of blackball him from the industry in the way he probably wasn’t thinking of since I am pretty sure a lot of the pop girls (whose vast majority of their audiences are lgbtq+) probably didn’t want to associate themselves, alienate or invalidate their fanbases by collaborating with him especially after the backlash they saw Dua Lipa receive for weeks about his comments until she finally had to address them.
To be fair, Tory was in the right
@Jeff E The case is still going on we don't know that
This is it. The video didn’t even scratch the surface, making it seem like he just doesn’t have a filter and it’s harmless fun. I guess it did since ppl really haven't talked about him anymore since then.
First, they got to be at least in the 10 million+ range to be considered here. Second, who??
He got popular so fast and fell so much faster
wait, what happened? i haven't kept up w him i completely forgot he existed
What I have learned from this channel is never apologize
Alot of people want the power to guilt trip you like that, don't feed the lions.
Unless you fucked up to an extent like Travis Scott then yeah lmao
Yes and no. There’s a time place to apologize. If do apologize don’t over do it. You be like I’m sorry I learned and after move on. Don’t look back Then focus on whatever it is.
@@cookiemonster1787 well then that would seem like too little, as if you dont care. it doesnt matter what you say, if you made a big enough mistake to angry the internet no lifers theres pretty much nothing you can do but hope normal people support you still
@@cookiemonster1787 don't PUBLICALLY apologize.
The fact that People keep up with the drama and build it up on twitter is extremely dumb thats why I dont even use it and it should not be a platform
The fire alarm beeping at 3:30 is something I saw coming from a mile away
On December 31st 2020, Dababy was 9th in monthy listeners on Spotify, now, he's 93rd
That's still pretty good
This seens bad at first but then you realize just how many artists are there and you realize that its still really really good
@@zom5783Not for him
He apparently also had beef with Dua Lipa, telling her nobody knew who she was before they collabed on the song "Levitating", implying he's a bigger artist than her. Which is quite ironic for me as I've never heard of the guy before he was in that song with her.
Lmao he's so delusional
one of her mvs literally has 1 billion views huh
That's a reach if you from America we knew baby first don't follow da hype
What? This isn’t true at all… why would Dua collaborate with him after that? Their beef came after DaBabys homophobic comments.
@@Kelogotti I'm live in North America and I can tell you that more people here know Dua Lipa than Dababy with his shitty songs

Love you sunny!! Thanks for the amazing content. NEVER MISSES
You forgot to mention that his tickets sells were so bad he had to do the “buy one get one free” shit
something i have learned over the years celebrity's cannot answer to comments anywhere
I don’t think dababy’s antics really had anything to do with his fall off, being out of pocket was kinda part of his brand. I think the mainstream just got sick of him musically. 90% of the time someone talks about dababys music they’re saying he uses the same flow over and over again. I don’t think he was blackballed either… he was literally getting top spots on playlists (at least on Spotify) for his 2 latest albums and I heard that bestie song on the radio at least a hundred times
He just got boring. Facts ❤😂
I'm a new subscriber and I just wanna say I absolutely enjoy your commentary and your style of it. I was litterally binge watching all your older videos too and you definitely deserve the subs you got. Keep it up my guy!🙋🏽♀️
He really said "Let's gooo"
Agree. At some point he becomes the victim of bullying himself
After watching all these videos I’ve learned the best way to handle a situation is to ignore it😂 everyone’s downfall seems to be responding to criticism 😅
Exactly…
If you're famous, don't think this will work for us normal folks 😂
Depends on what you are being criticized for
Miniladdd ignored the pedo accusations and that hurt him, so basically don’t be a pedo and yeah you can ignore anything
Basically don't acknowledge anything, don't respond to anything. You do and you admit guilt, once you bleed the sharks will come
Love your videos, SunnyV2! Keep up the great work!
change for everyone, you will please none
Bro really said some “Let’s goooo”
Social Media doesn't ruin careers, giving famous people a road to express their own thoughts just exposes who they are. It just gives a lense to the people who probably like you or your work to see and hear what you do and say off stage or off camera.
Na people on social media just love to be mean cause they have nothing better to do. It's not celebrities problem that people don't agree with 100% of what they say cause they never will anyways
Considering how easy it is for people to get cancelled and get shit for 'not apologising', it's not right that someone should get shit for apologising. Being able to admit where you went wrong and take accountability is a strength that more of us should have.
BUT he keeps doing stupid shit and making insincere apologies and going back on them. He's one of many many people who need to stay off of social media, its for his own good and everyone else's.
I feel like that's just how rap culture is.
yeah i think he was at least a decent guy but the people started bitching over tiny things that really didn't matter and he responded to them. i don't think he as a person is hated just that his music got stale
@@exquisicy5429 He's not that decent of a person. He has multiple and recent assault charges and when people realized that he was violent, they stopped caring for him. I feel like this video left out so much info.
Social media is fucking useless and it’s full of toxic people we need to get rid of it anyways the only good things about social media is you can make money off of it but only if you have clout
@@xrenegade87xchannel88 i won't argue there every social media is so bad
Dudes got that “Burger king foot lettuce” Voice going for him

You know the dance mom TV show was definitely pissed when they saw this
I feel this has a bit of an ironic tone, as often it's people acting childishly that gets them in hot water, but this time it (or a part of it) is the creator taking responsibility and answering the drama like a "good" person, but also contradicting himself in the process, and that is what ended up ruining his image and his career.
I don't think him taking responsibility or contradicting himself that killed him. It was the insincerity and the inability to stop doing the same thing over and over. He also didn't realize his fan demographics and ended up disrespecting them. On top of that his attacks would just appear out of nowhere on ppl who really didn't deserve it. Never liked em cause he started out the gate like that.
A huge part of his downfall was his situation with his baby mothers, which isn’t addressed in this video. What he did with Dani Leigh severely impacted his female fan base to the point that they essentially boycotted him. His arrogance and violent outbursts (justified or not) is simply not a good look.
Thank you. I'm so surprised he did not mention this period like this was the biggest nail in the coffin for da baby
He does it on purpose said it got to easy going #1 that’s why he put the daneleigh situation on his own IG live😂 he wants to be hated clearly he’ll be on top again
His “female fan base” is almost non existent, nobody “cancelled” him, only a highschool child who thinks opinions on Twitter matter believe that.
@@sportzzstoryzz1281 that’s tragic of you to think that because his turnout at concerts said otherwise. I don’t even use Twitter so seems like an L for you to even think you can use that as some type of comeback. And if I remember correctly there were loads of female rappers trying to get with him too, so if you don’t have anything if substance to say, sit back down.
@@traceyi.7461 does it all on purpose it’s obvious that why he continue to do all this shit he know y’all going be mad and don’t care 😂 does y’all being broke and hating on a millionaire is delusional shows still selling out still making millions and really ain’t drop no new shit in 2.5 years😂🐐💪🏽
0:55 Wow, that was something DaBaby had to think about. I would too.
Can't believe he told that flight attendant to comb her hair while his dawg sitting there with a plunger on his shit.....
Hey Sunny, I'm pleased to say that your channel has at this point effectively become a corpus of case studies in PR for the age of the Internet. Your videos are an interesting dissection of public figures prominent on the internet and the perspective you take of detailing their history from the perspective of public perception has actually made your channel a really great source of information on the topic. Its funny to see that there is actually a pretty straight forward process by which public figures stain their reputations and how very few come out of these situations because of the common mistakes that figure after figure seems to make. I mean there is no substitute for just being a good person in terms of people liking a public figure, but I love seeing how avoidable most of these fallouts actually are.
Ok Noah
@@pindex5059
What was the point of your comment?
Ok
It’s crazy how he’s literally just being an average non-Internet person and that in and of itself was what killed his career. I still remember a time where his rap style and behavior would literally be rewarded for being so committed to his image without being apologetic.
