Signal: Hi-Lo (x2)
Location: 510 Maple Street, Wapakoneta, Auglaize County, OH
The crown jewel of the day, this punchy 1003 offered quite the treat for all seven enthusiasts that were there... and then it did it again! This 1003 was easily louder than Harrodsburg, and scores high on my mental "Loudest Thunderbolts" list. After the first cycle, we were unsure as to whether or not it would go again, and we began stalling. Sure enough, our suspicions were correct, and it fired up again to do another round of hi-lo goodness. Enjoy!
00:08 birds nest... P U L V E R I Z E D ! ! !
It's like a mix of Hi-Low, Attack, and Alert all in one!
How attack?
@@Mitch1938 So basically why it’s doing this dumb signal is:
It’s trying to do attack like the rest of the county does but whoever wired this thing made the flasher go to Hi-Lo instead of temporarily turning off the power. (Which is why Attack is also known as wavering signal, because the siren turns on and off for 8 seconds for 3 minutes in most cases).
@@CentralOHSirens actually some places use this as a wildfire call out west
@@tornadoandfiresirensofohio8479 No, it’s not officially called wildfire signal. Please take something I say with a grain of salt for once please because I know what I’m talking about
Captions: [laughter]. [applause] [music]
Yes. Laughter at how stupid this signal is, Applause at how healthy it sounds and music to my ears.
@@beniciotheproducerarchive227 this signal is stupid and grate at the same time
sounds like an angry trumpet
what?
He said it sounds like an angry trumpet
LOL
This was the first time I experienced a bolt with no ear protection. It was amazing! I had a ton of fun hanging out with you guys!
Yeah it was fun! I was the kid with the neon green hat and red coat
Tctc6y6yyyyy6
Wow! That must have been an experience. Wish I was there.
That echo was awesome at 5:27
xXSo1gamimgXx hey bud.
1:17 You can hear a siren in the background
Or that’s an echo
You're right. 2001-130
I wish Thunderbolts were still being made today
RavenFromTeenT Same
Elijah Nash REALLY! WHERE?!? WHERE?!?
KidCrazer14 they aren’t, FS discontinued them because they suck ass, yeah they have good coverage, but they have so many moving parts it’s hArd to meintain
😢😢 *Sad Piano Music*
I slept right through it, its second run woke me up.......
1:16 2001 in the background
I like to think of myself as a Thunderbolt enthusiast, but this is the first time I've heard this combination of alert tones. Almost feels like it's vacillating between the tones, not sure what to stick with. Very interesting combination. Thank you for sharing!
Yea the AF timer is kinda screwed up ir i think it was wired wrong.
At 1:15 you can hear a 2001 in attack
That was a fun meet! We should do it again!
Agreed!
I was in a discord call when this was going off that day XD
I heard it too
this 1003 does exactly 360 high/lows each test.
what a number
the thunderbolt is the best siren i think
3rd best.
Sounds sick. Wow it’s not even 7:00 yet and there’s already 40 comments! Thanks CZcamsrs!
Siren Master17 Its not sick. Now stop saying dumb things on channels for people older than 7.
Not sick
Appears they have the solenoid flasher hooked to the chopper out from the RCM while the chopper is wired with the rotator and blower.
Amazing video! Glad to see the blower was fixed. If this thing wasn’t so far from me I’d probably go see it too.
I don't see thunder bolts a lot because I Live in Dover de
But I would have gone to see it to
Actually the blower was fixed in 2017.
It's 5 blocks away from me XD
The nearest Thunderbolt to me is 25 minutes north or 25 minutes south. There are two that are jailbar 1000's in Cuyahoga County from 1952 and one red 1000 in Barberton (Summit County) (which is the one in my profile picture) from 1955. Closest dual-toned Thunderbolt to me is an hour away in Ashland.
When the thunderbolt voice cracks
Nice! and to anyone reading this i think they wired the timer wrong so the signals are messed up like the attack cam has been wired up to the solenoids and that sort of stuff so probably why its sounds like this. They should check the signal wire connections to the RCM3 from the AF timer to make sure they wired it correctly so it produces the signal they send out.
Wow! Great test! Siren is running on chopper 6.
Actualy its running on chopper 5 i dont know why the solenoids make it get higher pitched
@@SouthCarolinaSirens no, I know chopper level 6 when I hear it, plus he’d more than likely know as he owns a siren
@@SNIXC this dosent sound like chopper level 6 at all
@@SouthCarolinaSirens I have seen a 1003 on chopper level 6 and it sounds exactly like this, so I don’t understand, plus some 1003’s may not sound the same to other people.
@@SNIXC I've also seen a 1003 on chopper level 6 and its higher pitched than this. Its just every time when the solenoids on this siren start it gets higher pitched for some reason.
Beautiful!!!
FarmVille,Va has a volunteer fire department siren sitting on top of the FarmVille,Va Police Station right in the heart of downtown FarmVille,Va and it can be heard all over the town
Basically the agestat and the FC are in conflict with each other, the agestat is trying to do wailing hi-lo while the fc is in steady hi-lo resulting in this odd signal. Either the agestat is adjusted to the FC's 5on/5off cycle or the FC is adjusted to the agestat's 4on/8off or whatever.
This has an AF timer not an FC.
I suppose that this is supposed to be running Alternative Wail since the solenoids would engage and disengage every few seconds. The only issue that I see is why the chopper is not shutting off the moment the solenoids shut off. My guess is that bad wiring are something is seriously messed up with the Augustat. Nice video anyway.
Very uncommon to cycle the solenoids on and off like that.
It sounds a lot better now that the blower was fixed.
This thing is radical
Anyone notice the debris come out of the horn when it started up? The siren was like Bleeehhh...LOL
It was a wasp nest
1:14 use headphone and you hear like whelen siren in wail tone
2001*
Is this for fire calls or tornado warnings?
It's probably a test
Its kind of confusing, but they do this weird hi lo wail thingy, “hi lo growl” for warnings, and they have no fire siren. But they do test that weird hi lo wail growl thingy.
This is a test but hi lo is a fire call
TJplaysGames Tj No its not in this case.
the flasher is broken thats why
Two recordings in one week! Wow!
Edit: I think it did hi lo twice because it likes to malfunction. Once it did alternate wail.
If steady/alert signal with the solenoids running the entire time is called Hi-Low/ alternate steady, and attack/wail signal With the solenoids running the entire time is called Hi-Low wail/alternate wail, and attack/wail tone with the solenoids briefly being turned off is undulating wail/attack, does that mean this is undulating alert?
Hey 4J! I was wondering if you would know of any siren maps that i could use (mostly for the southwest region) for filming and hunting
1:17 FS 2001-130
Ok tornado siren
I have a theory: I think the solenoids are wired to run an attack cycle and the siren itself in alert. I’m not quite sure how that’s accomplished, but I have a hunch that could be why this is so wacky.
It does hi-lo 8 times, then opens both solenoids, its called "wildfire" you'd have to either wire it yourself, or you'd flip the modulate switch on and off, or just specified you wanted it to do that when you ordered it, sadly no one can do that because thunderbolts arent manufactured anymore of course.
Reminds me of Valley Springs, SD west 1003. Only this doesn't rotate at 8RPM.
Siren1000T I know it’s something programmed in the flasher wrong, its trying to do alternate wail but it cant.
That one's dead now.
@@elevatorssirensofmsp248 I'm not surprised. That one has always had some issues.
The east one is still up, but it only runs in alert now.
Siren1000T Sounds like the one that Derek Thompson filmed it the thunderbolt 1003 in 2007 which is it makes the slow HI LO and the chopper spins really fast.
It sounds like it's trying to do alternative wail
Poor birds that was in 1003’s chopper
I just got a tip on the last Tbolt in St. Louis countys old CD system
Thought they fixed the blower on her
Max the siren and alarm fanatic They did. The blower is just loud, thats all.
@@deaderthandead1182 still sounds revered wired
Chopper Level 7
chopper 5
That's not level 5 at least it doesn't sound like Chopper Level 5.
Apparently this is using a modified signal so cycle between hi-lo and steady tone in order to warn people of wildfires.
This is a tornado siren.
Sounds good 👍
I would have to suggest on hearing the other sirens in the background and how its stopping the HiLo single it would suggest that its supposed to be doing alternative wail.
yea but the flasher is broken so its trying but cant
This is on purpose. Its rare, but one of the thunderbolts in valley springs did the same thing. Its called a wildfire signal.
@@SNIXC its been a month and i know its flasher
@@SNIXC sadly Vally Springs west did die, this is the only 1003 that does this weird single
I think it's the best video ever
What's wrong with the solenoids?
The solenoids are very slow. Maybe they are broken.
There at a normal speed... its the AF timer that needs to be replaced
no. it is most likely a timer issue.
its flasher
Siren 17 500 sik 000 890
Someone needs to take the chopper off the time delay relay so it will make the correct wailing fire signal 😉
Neatto!
Nice Wildfire signal on an ATS
Strange sounds and very strange for it to cycle round multiple times, then stop briefly and then fire up and do it a second time
Hi lo
I know its trying to alternate wail I think
To my knowledge it is
@@deaderthandead1182 the flasher thinks it's running hi lo but the siren is trying to run alert
@@iowansirenrecordings2454 do you know this as a fact?
have you experienced this problem during a test of your own siren?
how is that possible? wouldnt the siren just do hi lo if it was running hi lo and alert at the same time? or is it set to switch on/off when another setting (in this case alert, maybe) is on?
@@bitchlasagna4720 flasher's programmed to only run for a couple seconds at a time, then shuts off, couple second delay to see if the siren is still running before kicking in again, does it til the timer shuts the siren down.
@@queencitysirens8755 the flasher is what controls the solenoids
wow
When you girlfriend is mad...
XDD
Strange how it does a cycle of hi-lo then alert and hi-lo again
I wouldn’t be surprised if it was the AF timer.

It does sound like it doesn't it?
It’s not

@@deaderthandead1182 chopper 5
tbolt 1003 No 6.
Nice Video! Still don’t get why they do Hi-Lo Alert.
Sirens of NE Ohio it’s not supposed to be like that. The reason why the siren does Hi Lo Alert is because either the solenoids or sticking or there’s an issue with the timer
I had seen in an earlier video that it did that because it was programmed in the timer to do alternate wail but the dispatch center sends out an "alert" command instead which is why it does that, but it could just be the flasher or something.
It’s actually called wildfire signal
Untrue.
Lol
Why does it cycle between alert and Hi-lo?
Jeremy Dunn it’s supposed to do fire signal but it’s not winding down during the alert cycle after when it’s down doing hi-lo most likely a agastat issue
Me when I forgot to do my homework
I have many flaws with your comment
@@iowansirenrecordings2454 I agree with you. I also have many flaws with that comment.

Alternatie wail.
