  • In this video we complete a full review on the Phigolf WGT Edition and play 2 holes using both the integrated Phigolf software and 2 holes with the WGT integration as well. We also walk you though the strengths and weaknesses of both program as well as give you our feedback on which one we like better. With Phigolf's WGT Edition you get two products in one so we feel this is a must have for those who love golf but don't have the space for a dedicated golf simulator setup.

    Hi - I've been playing WGT for years, basically since it came out - Here are a few things you need to know - On the first hole you had an elevation change of 57 feet - you need to divide that by 3 feet to get corrected yardage - in this case you would subtract 19 yards from the hole distance - If it was uphill you would add the 19 yards. On the green when you are putting, one inch of elevation change roughly equals one foot on a putt. So the 11 inch drop would require you to subtract 11 feet from the total distance of the putt. Works the same in reverse. On the short shots around the green I have learned to use the "Punch" shot feature which keeps the ball lower and stops it faster. It also doesn't go as far when you hit it. WGT is like playing a real round of golf and as you play and score ranked rounds, you move up in rank which gives you better distance etc. Finally when you get up past level 35 you can get some better clubs and above 50 things really open up. Also there are apparel bonuses you can have depending on the clothes you wear. Also don't spend a lot of cash on balls. They wear out fast if you play a lot of rounds and if you lose a ball, it is gone even if you take a Mulligan. Like any game the more you play, the more you will get familiar with each course and know which holes to stay right or left on and how much wind will affect a shot. Phigolf game looks pretty good but it is simple. WGT is a very good simulator and you need to spend time learning but once you do, you will have a great time for years :-) Loved the video I am absolutely going to buy this before winter - Thanks again!

      @@GarageGolf - I'm a level 90 Master and once you get up to level 54 grab the Hogan Irons, Calloway Rogue ST 1,3 & Hybrid, I use the Titleist VoKey wedges and the Odyssey Triple Track 2 Ball Putter - I rented clubs a lot to test and find the ones I liked the best and it's a great way to find the ones that suit your game. Using the basic WGT clubs is very tough in the beginning but you can work your way up from the fairly quickly. Glad you are going to keep working on the WGT end of things as it is really a very cool and accurate simulator once you learn it.

    On the lost balls you hit with the LW on the first WGT hole, you were swinging full on each. Try taking the club back only half way, or 3/4 depending on the distance.
    This works for me every time.

    Thanks for the review. I only have Phigolf, just started, but one thing i noticed too which seems to be the same for you was that my distance was a bit reduced in my irons moreso than my driver, but also I am hitting it much straighter in Phigolf than what i would expect. I intentionally tried to hit a big slice and did direct me a bit to the right, but not as much as what i would have expected. Much more accurate on PhiGolf than real life, haha. I hope my distances get more consistent on irons. My 6 iron went from my normal 160 yards all the way down to 120 yards on normal lies, so a bit confused. thanks for the videos.

    New to you channel because I bought Phigolf myself and have been struggling a bit. What I have found is that it’s all in the swing speed. With the driver for instance I feel I have swing with a more vertical swing and put a lot of speed in my down swing to get the distance. And I always have a nasty draw or fade, like the swing speed sensor club always wants to go inside. Could be the way I swing too lol. All in all it a great product and well worth it if your looking for some more entertainment at home and a great way to keep up on your swing during the winter months.

    You can aim by rotating the club. Unrealistic right from the start. It simply needs a front sensor to get calc for the “setup position”. All the device is doing is understanding “swing speed” by some mercury positioning”. I’m all for a cheap sim, I can’t afford anything. But at least the IRL range gives me real data. Fun game for kids and families of golf though!

      Also if you ever played WTG on your phone without Phigolf. You would know to take wind more seriously. Wind has a HUGE affect in WTG. You also dont mention what device you are using to run WTG, it did say you lacked the correct amount of RAM so this could be why it's got such a big delay. I just ordered my Phigolf and will be using a Samsung S20 Ultra. WTG plays fine on it stand alone.

    • @GarageGolf
      @GarageGolf  Před 3 lety

      From my testing it is not very accurate. I feel as if it is mainly factoring in club speed but shots that were hit on Uneekor QED or Skytrak that registered a draw showed up as a fade on Phigolf for example. While it is not meant to replicate what higher end launch monitors can do it also comes at a price that is 1/8th that of those higher end units or even less.

    • @Mrequine1
      @Mrequine1 Před 3 lety

      @@GarageGolf in your video it shown -9 left (out to in) in the swing path how close was it to skytrack?? I know it definitely not as good as GC2 or flight scope or sky track. I feel the industry is keeping the higher end launch monitor's overpriced, it's a specialist market for golf coaching and fitting.

      Hi, thanks so much for watching and supporting the channel. It's been quite a bit since I've been able to get on and play Phigolf much with us now doing this full time as a job. I am not aware of the issue you are facing and not really sure why it would read them on one and not the other. Is there a license key applied to one device the other device possibly doesn't have saved on it? I would recommend trying to reach their tech support. I've been playing about a year. The wife bought both the phigolf(!).
    You showed me the problems I was having - are what I should be having. Well, you had the same problems anyway. I don't like the interface with wgt either. Great job on the video.
    So with this video having some age on it. Would this (phigolf) home simulator be okay to continue to work on the swing during the cold Indiana winter when we can't get to the course and play?
    I was think this might help with club head speed and maybe swing path? Maybe help develop the swing a little also?
    Thanks

      In all honesty if you are looking to use it as a true teaching device I would say that is not the primary purpose of this particular device. If you are looking from an entertainment standpoint and getting some feedback with real clubs it certainly is a fun and useful tool for that. The accuracy is not at the level of a Skytrak or something in a higher price point though so it is important you know what you are getting prior to purchasing for sure. For pure entertainment value it is certainly there and don't feel you would be disappointed. Just don't expect too much in regards to it as a teaching tool to help your golf game.

    I play WGT on IPad and have spent $4 US in 170 days in a ‘Showdown’ if interested, look at my ‘reply for the scenario...
    Point is, in less than 150 days, I reached Legend, which puts you on the back tees (hack, amateur- front, Pro, Tour Pro- 2nd tee back, Master, Tour Master 3rd tee back, Legend, Tour Legend, Champion, Tour Champions & Hall of famer’s with one playing, Young46 and 1 posthumous, so I’m not getting any longer holes so I can concentrate on putting not worry about getting to Legend, save for new clubs, as the one I have access to are not long enough to be competitive. I got to Legend at L90, just, first 9 hole game, made an eagle on a par 4 last to get average under what you need to get there. Now, that hole I can’t get to within 50 yards of the green lol. So I play free balls and just work on short game and practice timing and learning courses, so when I get to L96 I can get a longer Driver then L97 longer irons...all payed for with ads. Want as many as I can so I can play a good ball, which add distance and make the short game easier (but are as expensive as real balls if you buy them with credits you have bought (but they have offers all the time).

      Showdown were I spent my only cash on the game ($4) goes like this;- 9 hole preliminary, 18 hole qualifying, 18 hole final, both with top 50 out of 100 get through. The Final, the better you place, the more you win. Was 2 off the lead with the money I spent on better balls and putt it on the edge of the 16th hole, so gimme par, 2 left with a short par 5 reachable in 2 so chance of winning but guaranteed top 3-5...unless your internet goes out. I forfeited the last 3 (play in 3 hole combinations, not all 19, or 9 at once, to play différant courses with différant winds and greenspeeds). Forfeits are automatic bogey for all 3 holes (even though I had a gimme for the 16th) so dropped to 20th, with lots of players a few shot behind so my countback (they separate same scores like regular golf, best. Scores on 18, then 17 etc...so I bogeyeyed the last 3 and was last of the 12th placed players. Turns out I needed Birdie, Eagle to win outright, but just the Eagle May have won it, depending on what the other guy scored on his 18th hole (holes aren’t played in same order, they are blocks of 3 holes each on different course and conditions, wind, green speed etc. So it’s unlikely the guy who ultimately won had an Eagle at his 18th as the chances of a reachable par 5 are slim as he was a Legend so very few reachable par 5’s. I was a Tour Master, so a tee foreword, anything from 24 to well over 100 yards farther (odd hole is the same). I got promoted to Legend within a week or 2.

    when you miss a hit, does the game recognize it? hit behind or over the ball

    • @GarageGolf
      @GarageGolf  Před 2 lety

      No unfortunately it still recognizes the shot. Even with the sensor on a real club if you missed the ball completely I have still have the shot register. Mainly a source of entertainment I would say versus a real golf sim. Fun for what it is as long as you are not expecting too much in terms of realism.

    58 foot below your tee box on the WGT. You would need to change club. 4 iron for you not enough.

  • @jamesdunn581
    @jamesdunn581 Před 3 lety

    My honest opinion:
    I have one and I regret my purchase. It acts nothing like my iron's swing does on the course. It frustrates me to the point I don't even turn it on anymore.
    Even when I take it outside with an actual club (use it on a pad with a mark to know if I am swinging straight) and it doesn't work.....
    Driver works okay.... But one strike out of 3-5 isn't worth the price.

      Great point. I guess it is a copyright thing and they didn't have permission to actually do "Pebble Beach" which is why they called it Pebble 72.

  • @YogiFlips
    @YogiFlips Před 3 lety +1

    I mean considering you were fully swinging everything instead of 1/4, 1/2, and 3/4 swings when needed. I think you were giving the software the hard time when it was your mechanics. You had a 60 degree and that can usually go like 75-90 yards even for an average golfer so even though you set up a 32yrd shot you still full swung instead of half swing or less as you would have needed. That’s my theory at least.
    Also your swing is consistent to the left so I don’t think the software was the blame on the sand shot for instance. The ball was dug in, the sand closes your club naturally when a ball is dug in and below your feet. Etc. otherwise it was a decent review of the product minus your slight lack of understanding golf
    Mechanics. Also pay attention to the wind. You were hitting middle fairway with a 15mph left against wind. Causing your slight hook to push more left.

    • @GarageGolf
      @GarageGolf  Před 3 lety +2

      Lol. Thanks for pointing out my lack of understanding golf mechanics!! If that isn't me in a nutshell I don't know what is. Have you had the opportunity to test this product? Would be curious to get your thoughts on the swing stick. Thanks for watching!

      @@GarageGolf I understand and I wasn’t critiquing you in the idea for you to stop. Just giving your mind some points to process when you are playing or reviewing products. Simulation golf isn’t like video game golf where you set up your shot and full swing on the joystick. Simulation is to simulate the real thing so if you have a club that goes say 80yrds and you’re 36yrds away (not including lie, wind, green speed, or whatever variables) you have to think of your swing arc as the % needed for that shot is all. Just opening your mindset to see these variables to put on a better review for Avid golfers and even beginners

      @@YogiFlips Not sure if you saw my video using real golf clubs but this product is nowhere close in regards to real numbers when tested against a Skytrak or other launch monitor (not that it is intented to be so).
