This was probably my most played game of all time. 6th, 7th and 8th grade this was my go-to game. I played on Gamecube. I never had to new Madden each year like my friends. They had 2003 with Marshall FAulk on the cover and eventually 2004 with Vick. I was still playing this and I honestly wasn't even mad. The game was perfection in my eyes. I think i played a franchise with every single team in the game. So many memories watching this gameplay.
I been playing Madden since 92 on Sega Genesis...but this particular one was classic for me. The presentation, the commentary, and the vicious tackles.
This is the first Madden game ever released on the original Xbox. It was also released around the same time as NFL 2K2 and Microsoft's own NFL Fever 2002.
It's amazing seeing how much smoother the players animations are back in 2002.... It's 2015 now and EA can't figure this out ? They would be better off just scrapping there current BS game engine and going back to this one ... Just polish the graphics and you would have a game that is 100 times better than the broken trash your putting out now .... EA you’re seriously blowing this thing ....
Yeah and Brady isn't even in this game, as being a 6th round pick, he wasn't given a spot in Madden 2001 or 2002, but he is in the PC Versions but not in the console releases, which is a shame. Brady made his debut in Madden 2003.
@@evanwilliams6406 Sorry to break this to you, Tom Brady appeared in the Xbox version of Madden NFL 2002, being the third starter of the Patriots at the time. He doesn't appear in the PS2 version at all.
I remember this game this Is one of the best game ever and the tackles sounds way much better then Madden nfl 20 ea sports been making good game of it so I rather just played one of those old school Madden game because it way much better then the newer school Madden game
Madden NFL 2005, and Madden NFL 08 are my favorite madden games, but ESPN NFL 2K5 will always be my favorite and in my opinion the GREATEST FOOTBALL game of all time 👌

Anyone ever figured out how to complete screen passes on this game? Also how to effectively run between tackles??? Also how to have blockers block and move to the second level in the run game??? Also how to pancake block???? PLEASE TELL ME IT WAS NOT JUST A PERMANENT GLITCHY GAME 😩 I HAD NIGHTMARES TRYING TO FIGURE THINGS OUT THAT THE CPU WOULD DO SO CASUALLY

These tackle sounds are a million times better than the pillow tackles in Madden 17.
They sound so realistic, that it makes me cringe hearing the players go, "oof!"

All three of the games were great too. I owned all of them. Loved when we had multiple football games every year to choose from.
8:40 was the truth. Moss when focused was as close to unstoppable as you can get. Great memories here.

The player movement was more realistic and the way they ran is more realistic than today’s madden.
