It is not proper for some cabinet ministers to brought a religious book (Bible?) during the swearing session. What will happen if everyone brought their books like Quran, Tripitaka and I-Ching. Subconsciously, it created uneasiness among the people of different beliefs. This can cause polarisation of the society and will give the wrong perception that particular ministers are pro certain religions. Spiritual beliefs is a very personal, they shall not bring it out in the public especially in the secular system. Cabinet ministers are to serve everyone.
When you enter the witness box, you will be required to raise your right hand and take an oath or affirmation. This is a promise that you are telling the truth. If you are a Christian (either Protestant or Catholic), taking the oath requires you to hold the Bible while swearing to tell the truth. For all other religions, you will make an affirmation instead. www.judiciary.gov.sg/attending-court/going-to-court-witness#:~:text=When%20you%20enter%20the%20witness,swearing%20to%20tell%20the%20truth.
