- Mr Lawrence Wong made his first speech as Singapore’s Prime Minister at his swearing-in ceremony at the Istana on Wednesday (May 15). “We can be a society where every Singaporean matters and a Singapore that matters to every Singaporean,” he said. “This is my promise to all Singaporeans: I will serve you with all my heart. I will never settle for the status quo. I will always seek better ways to make tomorrow better than today.”

At the age of 52 you are appointed as the 4th PM of Singapore. Although number *4* may not be good in Chinese tradition but I am sure you will deliver the best for your citizen.
I always proud of Singapore achievent since your country was forced to leave Malaysia in 9/8/1965. We no resouces at all, your earlier leaders managed to breakthrough with a flying colours.
How I wish that Sarawak will follow your country footstep in 1965. However, we just need some devine intervention and political will to be separated from Malaya one day.
Malayan leaders/politics are very cannor be trusted and always played around with the 3R issues.

PM Wong is very inspirational - we can only dream excellent leaders, like him, in the Phillipines. In our country, our leaders are just all talk, but no actions.

"kurleegs" or "korleegs" doesn't matter because I like the unpretentious way he speaks to address Singaporeans. No need to try to be LKY-esque or speak with the disarming charm of Tharman - it's all about the substance of it. I also saw him through the Covid pandemic when he was on the frontline to reassure and galvanize a terrified populace! I used to be hellbent against pap (i still have that streak of rebellion though now much mellowed maybe because of advancing age). Watching his purposeful leadership during the Covid years did change me a lot.
It is so important to go to top school like Singapore 🇸🇬 government Lee Kuan yew Cambridge university United Kingdom 🇬🇧 or Lee hsieng Loong Harvard university USA 🇺🇸 or university of Singapore 🇸🇬 national university of Singapore 🇸🇬 prime minister Lawrence Wong....how can a carpenter or mechanic or construction worker become prime minister of Singapore 🇸🇬 requires university qualifications like Barack Obama Harvard university USA 🇺🇸 and president of USA 🇺🇸 welcomes interstate managers
SG is successful primarily due to our ethnic Chinese majority. Because of geopolitical realities, SG is fond of placing vocal Indian leaders on the frontline to mask our majority ethnic Chinese composition. But when the real crunch comes e.g. Covid pandemic, who do we fall back on? Only the really capable and trustworthy ones step up to the plate like Lawrence Wong, Ong Ye Kung, Chan Chun Sing etc.
On the other hand, consider a hypothetical leadership comprising only the likes of Tharman, Iswaran, Vivian Balakrishnan, Janil Puthucherry, Shanmugam, Pritam Singh. What happens? You get such impressive speeches in Parliament and in the media so that the average SG IQ might seem to hit the roof at 140. But then, in a period of crisis or even in peaceful times, I believe SG collapses irreversibly in 2 weeks' time!
The citizens of Singapore should no more be China, India or Malaysia origin centric in their thinking but rather Human, SINGAPOREAN and International Identity to take the young nation forward. China and India in the near future will be superpowers and Nova Stars in Asia andvSingaporeans cannot take sides. This will create minor and later major fissures in its developing societies. The ruling PAP should do some social research on this subject of powerful external influences

I'm glad that our PM can speak the mother tongue just like ex-PM Lee. Many Singaporeans being primarily schooled in English now regard Chinese with quite a little bit of disdain. The predominant use of English unavoidably influences our point of view to become more aligned with that of the Anglo-Saxon world.
We're also easy target of western media propaganda not least of all that of our own CNA which very apparently is infiltrated by NED/CIA and staffed with many journalists from countries like the Philippines or India who are similarly indoctrinated to toe the western line.
Some Singaporeans even take pride in speaking Chinese haltingly as if this is a mark of social progress. Fact is the overwhelming majority don't speak English well either:
Can't speak mother tongue properly + Can't speak English well = Good for nothing
Good for nothing + Pretend to be perfectly in tune with all things Christian and Anglo-Saxon = KEH ANGMOH
