Garbage Kia
Share my sister get a 2018 Subaru Legacy and the server has 88,000 miles or 2017 Toyota Corolla and the Toyota has 77,000. I love your videos
My 2015 Kia Optima died while driving. Changed the starter has 100k still no turn over?
I agree Scotty. I used to have a Kia suv and it was crap.
My kia sephia died on me but can't find the connector I am the only owner for 20 years can't complain
Scotty goes by experience. Here is my experience: in 2010 I purchased a 2011 Kia Sorento. After 11 years and almost 100k miles, I have (out of pocket) replaced the main battery twice, the windshield wiper blades three times, and recharged the air conditioner once. My purchase included "tires for life" and I am now on my third set provided by the dealer. This Kia has been the least expensive new car buying experience after 10 years I have ever had.
@ProgM You would change ur mind quickly if you worked in the auto industry.
@@W0RLDSSMALLESTVI0LIN you are absolutely right. They may look good, but they are not built well at all. Very cheap and Chincy feeling. With small little motors, with no power, that blow up.
We had an 06 ACCENT...the transmission had real hard shifts once and awhile and was replaced under warranty. It had a 1.6 L engine and was no where close to our 05 Corolla. My conclusion...KIA and Hyundai are not as good as Toyota.
@@natewj1077 Not true. One Kia owner told me his 2010 Kia Forte is up to 200,000+ miles and the only thing he has had to do is the routine maintenance on the car... no engine, transmission or computer problems.
There are exceptions to every rule. Even the "Kias are crap" rule. Congrats on the good luck.
Putting a 150 amp fuse where there was a 100 amp fuse might mean that your wiring is now the fuse. So when the wire melts and catches fire at least you saved the fuse from blowing. Good plan....
ha ! 4 Shure ! Copper is Xpensive. i took 165 lbs of #1 to a recycler, over a month ago. 4 bucks Canadian, a pound. So, vehicle makers are producing thinner gauge wire, to save $$$. Especially where there is a long distance, like head/tail lights. Even using aluminim, with 'copper' coloring, like some booster cables. G O F I G U R E. oldtech
Yea cause who knew fuses costed so much?
Just put aluminum foil it's okay.
Bigger number means more protection though! Everybody knows bigger is better! 😂
Another great observation 👌🏻 so funny yet so true
Judging by most of the comments here from people who actually own a KIA, they seem to be great cars.
The new ones are. Old ones break easy
they're not bad, but yeah turbo lags, gearbox's are sh**.. not much has changed
160k on my 2013 optima only one issue which was covered under warranty. So Kia pretty good in my experience.
10k miles on my 2021 kia telluride and loving it

They both bite booty so who cares
The A/C blower issue could also be a really clogged In cabin air filter. Sometimes I come across people who never changed them or even knew they existed.
I never knew. No one ever talked about em
Asian cars tend to have that problem. My Hyundai Azera doesn't do well with the air conditioning and my Mazda had trash air conditioning and I replaced the filters on both.☁
I had an issue where I installed an aftermarket cabin filter. A few months later I noticed significant reduced air flow. Kia installed their OEM filter. Problem solved.
2012 Forte and quite dependable..116,000mi and ft. brakes, belt tensioner, battery, and thats it.. My experience is good..Not great ride, but ok..
Or the thermastat could be going bad.
I would own a Kia over many other cars. Ours has been brilliant over the past 4 years.
They truly are good cars.
Yea i have a kia that i bought it brand new 9 years ago and still have it and never had any problems with it.
The only Kia I would personally own is the Soul in alien green, as long as it's made in Korea. My dream came true with the 2017 Soul+ in alien green with well under 100k miles. That was the last car I've had with a lien before I sold it to get out of car payments, and I'm not planning on having payments on wheels. Now I drive the 2010 Toyota Prius with over 100k miles and still runs great, and best of all I own it outright.

@@davidjean6753 Brand new, and broke down the next day? They screwed you over. Sorry dude.
@@scottytaco it never made it home from the dealer. I tried to file lemon law but it has to have the same failure 3 time with 2 attempts to fix it. I lost all faith in the car day one. I couldn't afford a attorney to go to court. It spent the very first two weeks I owned it at the dealer. Then at 69k miles transmission failure and Kia wouldn't honor their powertrain warranty. Only after I spent $3k for the trans repair that made it 6 miles before the trans exploded would Kia replace my entire trans but wouldn't reimburse me one penny for the $3k repair I just paid for. I don't know about the hybrids, but my parents have a regular Kia Optima, and I was actually stunned by how fast it was. Because the cabin is so heavily sound proofed, you can barely hear the engine, so I had no idea how fast I was going. I look at the speedometer and was like "Oops, I'm doing 90."

You can't just bump up the fuse. The wire is sized for 125 amps. You run the risk of overloading the circuit because the fuse no longer trips at 125 amps. Overloads can lead to fires. That's BAAAAD news in an electric car.
I'm in my second kia car and they feel amazing. Every issue that's popped up has been covered by the dealership.

My 2014 Sorrento GDI also loss coolant, it turned out to to be the thermostat casing.
Our 2014 engine crapped out. However under warranty. My thermostat housing was leaking to just prior to the engine dying. I think it was the knock sensor that shut it down, but we were near the end of an oil consumption test and it was using a lot of oil so they replaced the engine.
On occasions they like to crack. Once they blow up anyway the new warranty engine comes with a new thermostat housing. On extremely rare circumstances you get a new high pressure fuel pump. Those are usually transferred from the old engine to the new one.

Well my Kia Forte was built in Korea and has the 4 speed transmission instead of the newer 6 speed transmission. I get 34, 35 miles per gallon driving around town. Naturally aspirated and port injection. It's got 183,000 miles on it and it's doing well. Now I am really careful to keep up on maintenance and I don't drive it hard. Thing is I wouldn't want to get a hybrid from Kia. If I were to get a hybrid I would get a Prius. But the simpler Kias are not bad cars.
I told this new generation get us manual transmissionthey last forever they never break down so of course every hundred twenty thousand miles you got to replace the clutch but I got a Kia soul that I got 202 thousand miles on it and I've never had any problems with it besides regular maintenance so I'm sure if you're going to buy a hybrid stick with Honda and Toyota but if you're going to buy a good reliable combustion engine automobile the Kia souls are a sure hit

@@trini_boi2414 well my Forte is pretty good. I am changing oil more often than the manual suggests because I have noticed that it does something odd. Like every car it also depends on how you drive it. I saw a fiat with 165k miles on Scotty's channel. But also buying new is better because you know how it was driven
@@shawnmerlan the way I wrack up mileage I didn't even bother to trade In. But had each for at least 8 years and they preformed flawlessly.
They’re really not. My wife has a 2011 Kia Sorento with 180k and it’s been the most reliable car we have ever owned. I had a Toyota Camry and it was a piece of junk it burned oil like a MF. Sold that P.O.S and we got the Kia instead. Much happier. Much cheaper and it’s been great.
Lmao the camry is probably still being driven and probably will keep being driven after your sorrento hits the junk yard
@@BullittKid08 sensitive much? That Camry is probably siting in a junkyard!
This is encouraging. My wife's 2009 wore down way faster than my 2009 Fit. However we did opt for a Sportage because she loves Kia (and the incentives were significant.) I have to say I'm extremely impressed with it so far. I really hope it goes the distance.
I’m on my 3rd Kia, best cars I’ve owned.
@@AgonxOC im just busting the original poster's balls. Sorry if i offended you mr picasso
In about a week it will be 5 years that I bought my 2017 Kia Optima. I know it's not old yet, but so far no issues.
My coworker had a plug in hybrid version of this. It was definitely a pretty car. But she got rid of it shortly after 4 years, after it stranded her and her children in the hot California sun.
Never date a girl that drives a Kia soul. They're everywhere & you'll never forget her.
lmao
My gf has owned two Kia souls lol
You should try an Altima broad. THE WORST

I never had problems with my kia’s I have both a Kia Optima 2011 with 168k on it and I have a Kia stinger and the only thing I had to fix on the Kia Optima was radiator around 110k but runs like a champ!
My 2012 Kia Optima was just short of 123,000 last week and the motor seized up. Until then it was a good car …9 years and 123,000 miles was all it had in it to give.
Scotty, you've got to try and be a little more direct and tell us exactly how you feel about Kias.
He did
Killed In Action
Right
He can't back up his theories about kias
I still remember when a brand new Kia would leave you stranded on the side of the road on the trip home from the dealership.
my last 2 cars (kia) have been amazing. 2001 kia optima traded in with 275,000 miles. only problem entire life of car was right window motor (fixed at 90k for free under 100k warranty) and now own 2017 kia niro currently with 146,000 miles. never had a problem. In my opinion they are 10x better then any cheap american car
I have a 2018 Kia Optima non hybrid and so far the car is great. The a/c is super ❄️🥶. Also, my mpg on the expressway at 65 mph returns 40 mpg and in the city under normal driving conditions returns 23 mpg, not bad I think.
2006 Kia Rio ran great until a teenager totaled it. 28-30 mpg and stayed on top of routine maintenance, it lasted until 140k miles.
2011 Kia Forte runs great to this day. Just kept up with oil changes and tire maintenance and flushing the trans at 100k miles. It gets 26-28 mpg at 110k miles.
Also bought a 2021 Kia Forte and it gets 46-48 mpg. So far so good with 7k miles on it
I have nothing but great things to say about kia
My aunt's kia rio has its rear view mirror just randomly fall off. She couldn't be bothered to have it glued back on and just left it in the car lol.
All of your cars were made on Wednesdays.
@@nicksterr2086 My 2015 Optima misses shifting into a higher gear sometimes when I'm accelerating hard. And given all the catastrophic engine problems and sludging they have had in the past, I don't think I will buy one in the future.
Good luck much over 140k, get back to us in two years and you will wish for a Toyota too.
Scotty’s videos are my Tv 📺 time
Scotty can speak freely on CZcams unlike his TV days on CBS.
I’ve just returned Kia Optima they gave me while my car getting fixed, I drove 1300 miles in two weeks. Smooth ride, but $60 every time at gas station is too much.
I remember when I had to get my Jeep towed and I asked the tow truck driver what type of car he tows the most.
He said old and new Kias.
Well what more evidence could you need than this…
We traded my wife 2020 kia soul for a 2015 honda cr v deluxe model with only 38k miles.
Kia wouldn't fix the warping metal on the hatch even though we had the 100k warranty.
Honda matched the 100k kia warranty.
Kia have the worst customer service.
yeah cause CRv engines dump fuel into the oil lol.
@@Kagemusha320 all good my friend. Around 100k miles we are trading it in for a new Toyota.

I have a Toyota so that my other vehicle CAN be the fun, unreliable car I've always dreamed about owning!
Great Pakistan !!
I live in a city with best public transport and walkability. I don't even need a car
Maybe most are junk but you wouldn’t believe the amount of careless abuse I’ve put my 07 Sorento through and it’s still runs with crazy mileage. 230k miles and for the last 150k of its life it’s done nothing but drive hard and take corners hard. Break hard, rev hard, everything a crazy teenager could go to a car for 150k miles….
Bought a 2011 Forte hatchback 3.5 years ago. Not one issue, just normal maintenance. Currently at 150k miles.
I recently bought a 2021 Kia Forte 6 speed manual with the 147 HP engine, it gets 30-33 city and 38 highway so what is the hybrid advantage?
Scottie, wouldnt/couldnt installing a higher rated fuse possibly cause the wires to overheat or worse?
KIAs are the crazy girlfriend you date for 36 months on lease just for kicks.
Then you find yourself a nice, dependable Toyota to marry and make baby Corollas with.
😂👍
So funny and True
🤣
But I had a Corolla that completely shitted on me and I followed all the maintenance requirements
Korean cars are not up to speed on the hybrid tech compared to Toyota.. I'd never go to them for a hybrid.
The 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid is actually getting a whole lot of great reviews. Everyone is comparing it to the RAV4 Hybrid, and they say the acceleration and noise levels in the Hyundai are much better than the RAV4. I've owned several Toyota's - and they have all been rock solid and probably what I'll go with but I will be test driving the new Tucson for sure.

Toyota > Kia, no question, but recent Kias (2018 and newer) are a lot better than they used to be.
I have had 2 Kia Optima bought both brand new. One was a 2015 EX. I put 58,000 miles on it. No engine or transmission problems. Have a 2019 SXL now with 39,000 miles and no issues. I change my filters regularly and the heat and ac blow more then enough air.
I had an 04 Sportage ES and that vehicle was an amazing little 4x4! The only thing I ever had to do was a rear axle seal that was covered under the warranty.. But, the brake pads were contaminated and I had to pay for them.
Other than the regular maintenance stuff, I really liked it!
I may have gotten lucky but I have an 08 optima with almost 190k still running strong

My 07 optima is 265k. Still runs strong.
It’s probably because it’s not a hybrid.

My Kia Rio 2012 owned for almost 9years and is working fantastic. Maybe I just got a lucky piece?!? Almost 320,000km on it. Haven’t had any major issue till date.
The KIA Optima Hybrid wheels look like they took them off of a Hotwheels diecast car ,look almost identical 🤣

The internal resistance of batteries increase with cycle count. This battery must be getting bad hence why that fuse is blowing at the oem rating.

I have a 2011 Kia optima with 235,000 miles on it. Love it. Best car ever.
I assume yours was made in Korea. The ones made in the US blow up way before that.
False ,trolls paid by Kia to promote/defend their crap
Oh yeah, my buddies' Optima has a wonky ac system. Not suprised.
All Kias have awful AC systems. Cheap AC compressors and leaky AC lines. The EPA should have fined them billions for all their crappy AC parts.

I used to work on them in the late 90's, I was amazed that they were allowed on the road. I am sure they are much better now, but back then they were really bad.
I remembered Daewoo going to college campuses and offering students free driving lessons.

I agree that Kia is not up to the Quality of a Honda or Toyota. But in my case after test driving a 2020 Toyota Highlander, a 2020 Honda Pilot, and a 2020 Kia Sorrento V6 doing research and looking at the pricing I actually wound up with the Kia Sorrento EX V6. I have put over 16,000 trouble free miles on it so far and have been very pleased with it. I know the older Kia’s had Severe engine problems especially the 4 cylinder Models but I believe that Kia has greatly Improved many of their models over the last few years. So I took the Gamble. We shall see. Scotty, do you think I screwed up?
Kia's quality is above Honda's probably matches Toyota by now I've been in Honda factories not that good
