Yamaha's NMAX155 is so popular as utilitarian motorcycle here in Philippines. Almost every scooter riders owns it, they also use it as a Delivery Motorcycle (for GRAB food, FoodPanda etc.). Due to it's popularity, people here in PH formed a club named "NMAX Philippines" (around 500k members all over PH) where riders ride a hundreds of Kilometers every sunday(weekend ride, charity ride or group ride) members also shares experiences, problems and issues about nmax which can be easily fix due to High amount of available parts. Nmax also popular for Motorcycle Endurance Challenge (common riding event here in PH) where Riders ride their bike(100cc and up) for about 1500km(loop) for just 15hours. Even though it's just 155cc, its durability is very impressive. It's actually a good transition motorcycle from a manual clutch to automatic. a lot of older people loves Nmax for to it's riding comfort, power, and durability. I’m looking to buy a scooter in Philippines..it’s the nmax or the Honda adv..what prices can I expect?
@@ianwatson3315 it depends actually, ADV160 and Nmax155 are both comfortable to ride , but if you wanna go a little bit off-road then Go with Honda ADV160, but if you want speed, choose Nmax155. also, consider the available parts. Nmax155 has so much parts than ADV160.

ADV160 are around ₱164k depends on the dealership, while the Nmax155 is around ₱151k+. both have ABS front
in every one of your Bali video's i am amazed at the amount of traffic and how insanely they drive..lol...am shocked people arent squashed all over the road like ants..lol..nice bike shop...with so many in the back you dont know for sure which are being worked on for customers for sure and which are being stripped for parts...great video!!..
It’s true- it must be a kind of organised chaos on the back of the workshop. I’m amazed I’ve only seen one crash apart from mine so far😳

The stock NMax suspension is usually fine for one person. For riding two up, the rear OEM shocks are a bit soft (resulting in a lighter feeling front end), so some people change them. It sounds though, that your 2012 bike has a front suspension and perhaps rear suspension that are a bit shot.. The front forks should not be bottoming out unless you hit a huge bump at high speed, even with a pillion.

Good you have a Nmax. Yes that is aftermarket shocks. Normal shocks are black. Is there adjuster on the shocks. Balinese guys like a hard ride. I like the softer ride. I've got my Xmax on soft setting feels great. Look forward to your next vlog. Cheers

@@FreddieDobbs I like taking the Xmax on long rides often. I wake up early and just go. No planing. 3 times I have ridden all the way around Bali in the day. 9 hours non stop. My last long ride was to Surabaya 13 hours non stop. Great fun. Cheers

Great shop and workshop, so nice that they let you have the walk around, clearly nothing to hide which is refreshing. I guess being a mechanic out there means you'll never be without a job, or do they have off seasons like other tourist places. Glad you came of light with the crash and even better no one was hurt. Are you missing your Bonny?
There was a huge group of bikes outside the garage that couldn’t fit inside- it was seriously busy!
Oh and yes… I am now missing the Bonneville! I’ve got a huge trip planned in my head that I want to do as soon as I get back🤘🏼🏍️

Like that little blue dax in the workshop, the nmax are nice scooters too, see some epic customs in Thailand etc of these.
There are lots of very softly modified Nmaxs here (mirrors, led lights), but surprisingly, not many full on custom jobs that I’ve seen so far
Really surprised to have not seen the Honda FTR 223. Had one in Cambodia. Best bike ever. Truly. Look sweet. Actually might be my favourite bike ever. Anywhere. And I've had a few. Monoshock. Handle great. Proper pillion...my wife would get on and the bike wouldn't notice. Dirt roads. Crappy roads. Flooded roads. 250cc of brilliance. They're getting on a bit now, but Honda parts are ...Honda parts!!

I thought the Nmax would be more unwieldy and harder to manoeuvre, but the weight is so low down and it’s so incredibly well balanced, it’s a dream to ride and manoeuvre👌🏻

Love it! It would be a ludicrously rare sight. I’ve seen one Bonneville parked up about two weeks ago in Bali and that’s it😳
40 odd years ago Touring in northern Spain on my Meriden Bonneville there was a similar king of the road feeling, the Tax regime in post-Franco, pre-EU Spain made bikes over 125 cc prohibitively expensive. So there was me, and a few Germans on big Hondas ( not BMWs interestingly) with crowds around the bikes in every small town square in dusty central Spain - so different now.

Freddie, the NMAX looks really cool to whip around town in! Speaking of, it probably has a quite harsh ride quality to it because they look like performance springs in the rear however take a look and see if they have an adjustment for pre-load as well as weight setting. I'm sure (assuming it does have an adjustment) that it should drastically improve the ride quality and comfort for you! Anyways, I've been absolutely loving the Bali Vlog Series and really enjoy seeing the culture and sights over there! Being from the United States, I've never been outside of North America and would love to travel over to your side of the world at some point in the future! Lastly I have a quick question regarding Car Vertical - do they support the USA (I know they're based out of Europe) and have never heard of them until you've mentioned them in past videos but wasn't sure if they're available to use in the USA - I'd be curious to know. CarVertical is available in the US so it should work perfectly for you (it gave me the full details of a Florida imported Harley last month). All my best🤜🏼🤛🏼🇺🇸
Good 155cc engine in that scooter, Freddie. Same as in my Aerox, the sports version, as I keep saying. My suspension is awful, too. It's the basic version. You could wear head-to-toe mesh gear. I do in Thailand.

It’s a superb engine- these Yamahas are seriously good bikes👌🏻 Interesting that you don’t rate your suspension either. I haven’t come across mesh gear in the shops yet- I was curious if it was readily available
@@FreddieDobbs The 155s are cheap, so you have to expect budget suspension. In Thailand with the Aerox, you can get two very good rear shocks for about 150 GBP and the front-end suspension rebuilt for around the same, I think. It's also possible to make them go a fair bit faster.
I am going to stock up in high qulity mesh gear when I go back to Portugal in mid-May. I'll have to import it from elsewhere in the EU, as it's impossible from England now.

Really liking the Yamaha XSR 155 in black Freddie that is the one I would be on no doubts at all , fab little bike mean as you like . Talk about a chaotic workshop bikes just everywhere . ,Gotta say your riding the cream of transport now then with that Yamaha scooter very nice still prefer the XSR though and a top looking cafe very nice , for me the best looking place on the island 😉good one guys 👌👍
Beautiful machine the XSR155, I agree. Right up my street style-wise, much more akin to the legendary RD than the bigger XSR700.
I think the XSR 155/125 may be the coolest small capacity bike on the market🔥
I do feel like I’ve hugely upgraded with the Nmax- it’s a very nice thing to ride🖤

That would have been £25 but imagine what they would have ripped you off for in the UK.
I live in Bali now and ride an NMAX. What a work horse! Sometimes I rent a Yamaha XSR155 for fun. Thank you, Freddie, you've been an inspiration. Before coming to this island I never rode a scooter or a bike

Hi both, scooter suspension is generally crude. I always have mine on softest setting. Sinnis new scooters are monoshock. Wonder if any better when I work on my bike I plan and watch u tube vids to make sure am doing it righ … then u see a workshop full different bikes 🙈🙈🙈😝😝

Looking at the Landy photos it looks all body shell damage. With the vehicle having a separate chassis if it's not been damaged its just a case of rebuild with new panels. Although still needs a good check.

Yamaha NMax and Honda PCX are popular with westerners but not as useful as the cheaper Honda Click 160 with the floor pan for storing bags, shorter, narrower, tighter turning circle for negotiating traffic and filtering.

The NMax is a very good looking machine - a modern take on a scooter - perfect for buzzing about on small islands. I see lots pf people riding without helmets . . .it it not a requirement in Bali?
Honda Scoopy has less space underneath the seat but you have the hook for carrying shopping and the floor pan for carrying other things between your feet. The NMax and Honda PCX is too long and has a poor turning circle for negotiating round and filtering through traffic jams.
I miss this hook when picking up my laundry!
In the bike workshop no fancy benches, a small number of none hydraulic bike lifts, no oversize Snap-On bright red tool chests, plenty of welding gear though, how on earth do they cope? 😯
I do like an XSR. Enjoying the trip...not as much as you tho' I'm sure.

The NMAX was the market leader on bigger-than-average-scooter in Indonesia because Yamaha took a bet to build/assemble the NMAX locally versus it’s competitor on the same size (Honda PCX), which at that time only sold CBU (completely build up) imported from Thailand.
So the NMAX price cheaper than Honda PCX and their newest Honda ADV 160, it’s also a favorite for GoJek/Grab motor taxi because more comfortable to the driver and the passenger and had good fuel economy although bigger and heavier than smaller scooter class.

Interesting shop. I wish Yamaha had sent their designers to Bali when brainstorming on new ideas for the 2022 model of the XSR 900. Maybe they would not have butchered what used to be a truly great looking bike. Good luck with those terrible springs on the NMAX :/

If it's cat b, it can not be put back on the road, it is uninsurable. That add is a scam, there is no considering how well it's been put back together it's no longer a car, just parts. If someone did insure without reporting the damage they are not insured and liable for criminal prosecution and will risk being uninsurable for the rest of their life.

I like your style Freddie, and Monika and you make a good team, and you travel to some lovely locations...but, stop trying to rate sub 500cc motorcycles. Once in a while as a mix for the newbies OK, but this recent constant stream of 125/155/175 is boring. That you try to get exited over some of them is starting to worry me. Please mix in something above 500cc and preferably above 1000cc.
Back in Europe I’ll do a complete flip and try and borrow some big bikes Mark👌🏻 Trying to find a bigger bike out here- incredibly difficult
