Nice review Freddie 👍🏼goes without saying all the bike would need is the stage 1 upgrade ie. free flowing exhaust, intake and remapping to suit as they run too lean stock. I have a 2001 fxdwg which I’ve owned for 14 years and this sportglide is the only model I would consider replacing my ride with.

My Granfather lived in Meriden. I remember going past the Triumph factory as a kid..Im really sad that they demolished it. It should have been kept for heritage. I also was taken to visit my grandfather in a side car fixed to a BSA A10. Riden by my Auntie. Great memories.

Yes, there are better bikes. We've become infected, at least in the adventure riding community, with a kind of practical rot eating away at our fun meter. The Transalp is David from Shawn of the Dead poking at his glasses and muttering about how "I don't see the point of owning a car in London." The Transalp is something. But it's not enough. I'd much prefer to be adventurous all the way round and choose a bike that is thrilling to ride and aesthetically magnificent. I am not a customer of the Teutonic boxers. I much prefer to keep my cash here in America and choose the rolling brass knuckles that is the Indian FTR Rally (120hp and knobblies). I would also prefer to send my money to the shores of Lake Como and buy the Guzzi TT, which is also possessed of a magnificent exhaust note, capable geometry, and Italic styling. Life is too short to let Excel make a motorcycle choice for you. God bless the Japanese, the Transalp is a wonderful and safe choice. The Fury is a wonderful and safe choice for a cruiser. But there's so much more to a motorcycle than that. We are madmen doing an insane bit of recreation on the least sane choice for transport. Let us proceed apace and choose our instruments accordingly, soaking our neurons in noise and g-forces, and laughter, until we are no more. Then let our friends speak of us as people who lived fully among the walking dead who tried to stave off the inevitable with spreadsheets and focus groups.

As a Kiwi who had heard of the famous Ace Cafe, i visited it in 2019. What a dump - it would not even get a licence to operate in NZ as the floor for a start would not comply with Health regulations here. There is no doubt that the owners would argue that it's keeping it's patina , but there is no excuse for keeping it as a Shxxhole

I spent most of my teenage years back in the early 60s in the ace cafe, being all night with bikes coming and going. The likes of BSA"s triumphs bsa gold stars tritons Ariels Velocettes and many moore. In 69 it shut down and became a tyre company. And what is so wonderful when it reopened as the Ace cafe as we know it today the original Rockola juke box was found upstairs on the first floor if my memory doesn't fail me. Good old days, had a great impact on my teenage years..

The Japanese and European are so soul-less compared to this little thing, just love it ! It’s what a motorbike should be, full of character, nice and sounding absolutely great. And the price is a joke !

the last time I was at the Ace was in 1968 on my 500 Gold Star with a gang of lads from Swindon, on our way back from a 59 club do, the next year sold the Goldie and started racing, the first race was at Cadwell Park on a 250 ex works Puch, (I should have raced the Gould Star) then started racing sidecars. I'm now 80 years old my last bike was a Honda 750 1979 sold it five years ago. not a day go's by I still think about my biking day's, when I took my test I didn't have to wear a crass helmet, crazy times, all you guys riding now keep safe.

Harleys are not the best bikes, fastest or even most reliable but they are solid, fast enough, fairly reliable, stunningly beautiful and most importantly embody a full all around riding experience! Every brand does something wel and some do alot well but Harleys just have so much character and feedback that makes a ride feel like so much more than just a ride. It's the rumble, pleasant vibration, clink and clank of shifting and just generally feedback on everything you do and the motorcycle does in response. It's hard to explain until you just get on one yourself and a proper Harley. A nice Iron 883 or 1200 with a stage 1 or a Road King Special or a Softail Heritage. Dont hop on a Nightster 975 or Street 750 or Vrod and judge Harley based off those because they are the least Harley bikes available from Harley. Don't get me wrong they are great bikes too and offer unique experiences but if you wanna understand why people love Harleys, ride a proper Harley for at least a 1k miles in a variety of roads but preferably a scenic curvy mountainside and you should get it by then.
