Confronting The Monster: The Language of Pain" by Gabor Maté is a profound exploration into the complex relationship between emotional trauma and physical pain. In this insightful work, Maté delves into the intricate ways in which unresolved emotional wounds manifest as physical ailments, challenging the conventional medical paradigm that often separates the mind from the body. Through a combination of scientific research, clinical experience, and compelling personal stories, Maté sheds light on how the suppression of painful emotions can lead to chronic conditions such as arthritis, fibromyalgia, and even cancer. He argues that by understanding and addressing the root emotional causes of our pain, we can embark on a journey of true healing and transformation.
The book is not only a call to action for individuals to confront their inner "monsters" of trauma and pain but also a critique of a healthcare system that frequently neglects the emotional dimensions of illness. Maté advocates for a compassionate, holistic approach to health that recognizes the interconnectedness of the mind, body, and spirit. "Confronting The Monster: The Language of Pain" is an essential read for anyone seeking to understand the deeper meanings behind their physical suffering and for healthcare professionals striving to provide more empathetic and effective care. It offers a message of hope and empowerment, encouraging readers to listen to their bodies' language of pain as a guide towards healing and wholeness.

Constant cortisol release (stress hormone) sustained for long periods of time is more poisonous than all the chemicals of cigarettes 😮
Is like we are so divided inside that we start fighting our selves, silently, trying to sustain the absurdity of this society.
Freedom is the only way out. Deep freedom in body, heart and mind ❤

I agree I was like that until I discover Gabor and now I practice exit strategy whenever I see the pattern coming I jump out from the scene and immediately distract myself and now its more manageable in terms of exhausting my stress hormone.

@@insideserene Try moving your body by grades of tension and release… we usually have a specific body posture when entering unhealthy stress mode, but if we become aware as it shows up, we can maybe release some contraction (not all of it) and tense maybe some other areas that need “our support”… by doing this we are changing the wiring of the whole brain 😍
