Downside about being “cancelled” is that now you have to sustain a conservative fanbase who only want to hear about how women, gays, trans, and or black folks are overreacting about their sociatal criticisms. Honestly, sounds like a pretty dreadful life to me.
right? sounds tiring too. i think i'll just stick to doing and talking about things i like 😭
same here but i don’t think it bothers them at all bc they obviously don’t care. like you can be as liberal/leftist/progressive as you want in your personal life or thoughts but if you’re not living that you’re imo no better than the conservatives. also i think back in the day that was considered a sell out.
@@j0rd33I still consider it that. It’s just been rebranded lol
"Edgy humor" has ruined mainstream comedy imo. Especially since people seem to think being edgy just means making fun of minorites. And confims what i already knew in comedians purposfully being offensive. Its just rage baiting.
It also explains why it often doesnt often lead to long term gain. Because it can get eyes on you but you either have to be funny or keep acting out to keep the attention. Unless you already have a large existing audience.
I don’t think someone is being unreasonable for not feeling comfortable having sex with someone they’ve only been on only 2 dates with.
I totally agree.
Yeah that part of the convo was seriously depressing.
right???? and how attractive you find someone shouldn’t be a determining factor in how much respect and autonomy you give them before flat out leaving them (or at least deeming them unworthy in a romantic sense). like i understand having wants and looking for a certain thing in a partner but if your leniency depends on how cute they are that’s kinda fckd up but having that mindset has probly done him more harm than good and unintentionally helped the girls in question dodge a bullet🤷🏽
And in this day and age with reproductive rights being removed, women need to be especially meticulous about who they choose to lay down with. If a man has an issue, he is free to move on to someone else. We can’t afford it anymore. 🤷♀️
The idea that we're going to negotiate DESIRE is stupid. She's either feeling u by the 3rd date or she isn't. But if she isn't, no need to make a thing about it. Cut your losses & start over.
I recently heard someone call Taylor Swift a fortune teller. She just says things in her songs that could vaguely apply to anyone. That's where the "relatability" comes from.
She also does this thing where she references her own paparazzi photos so she makes easter eggs in her music that fans love to turn into lore
Taylor swift is the perfect example of modern celebrity being more about brand management and less about being a purely talented individual in one area. It's a skill in itself obviously, but it the expectation that a successful pro singer/dancer should be extremely skilled at those things.
That "I can only wait two dates for a 5 or 6" segment is exactly why I stopped dating men *very* early on 😄
"My ex was crazy. My ex was abusive."
are two VERY DIFFERENT statements. Should probs be separate questions
Agreed!
What was his race? Do you know him well enough to know his history of the N-word use?🤷🏽
I can't believe this guy described the process of becoming a right wing grifter and no one called him out on it
I think the story worked because they are all aware of the grift and we live in capitalistic society that rewards that behaviour. I too wished they called him out on it but they seemed to have other topics to continue on but they pivoted into their merch promo and stopped there.?
The only reason you get more ticket sales after saying problematic things it’s the people agreeing with you that show up. You’re just grifting
All I care about is the N-word right now. If you're running for president, and used the N-word at any point in your life, as a non-Black candidate, I cannot in good conscience give you my vote, periodt. That way ain't nobody just getting away. That's the punishment😎
Eddy's been replaced. There were allegations that he is no longer on fuckshit and that clashed with the merchandise so he had to go. If he gets back on some fuckshit, then he'll be allowed to rejoin the podcast on a temp-to-hire basis
NGL, that "give up faster if you're not 10" thing is a red flag, lol. Like give me an example of why bi women stay away from men. 😄
And this is why so many gen z women are not engaging in hook up culture anymore like the millennials did. In practice, it just runs off of entitlement and low self esteem. 🤷♀️
yup. So disgusting
The relatability factor is spot on. Everybody gets broken up with, but she put all of those emotions into song and people that do see her as their avatar either are going through it or have gone through it. Celebrities are living memes, they say something and it's like "same" in comment sections - it's just her power level is immense
Ngl the abbas dude kind of gave me the vibe of being a gross person towards the middle/end of this video. Especially with that whole "have i actually been to aggressive? I might get cancelled for something-" slip?? Excuse me now???
Yeahhhhh…this shit is wack lol
Yeah… dude has dark vibes. Creepy/incel mentality vibe
Taylor Swift is the McDonald's of pop music.
You can't funny/money your way to a 10? Scarlett Johansson is married to Colin Jost, the head writer of SNL. I would like to submit this as contradictory evidence.
I think Colin is pretty attractive, but that’s just me.
I would say he's at least an 8, and an 8 who is funny and has money can get a 10
Alvin: I don't watch Rick and Morty for the jokes, I watch it for the character study.
Also Alvin: Abbas - Every time they brought Taylor, you know they'd cut to her box *Alvin giggles*
The duality of Alvin
The guest's beard/mustache combo is glorious
17:22 strange to word it as "cancelation ADDS VALUE to comedy".
I would agree cancelation usually puts you in the public eye (magnification as he stated earlier) but you're a fad, that's temporary.
I understand at the end of the day if you are trying to make a living off your work as a comic, tickets bought/butts in seats is the bottom line. But to argue being a momentary social pariah as "adding value" to your work, your priorities as a worth while comic seem to be a little outta whack.
Oh yall fucked up now with the bait video titles. The Swifties draw near. I'll miss you guys!
I'll just say Adele is a better singer. She doesn't exactly make music for me either. I also think Adele has a better voice than a lot of Black singers. That's just me tho🤷🏽
She brought so much mayonnaise to the culture........buahahahahaha 🤣
All facts! Lol
Thank you for doing this. I know art is subjective. But she is mid.
Which is her TOTAL appeal. All her fans are mid deep down inside too & they know it.
@@martinvulu1848i mean most people are mid that's why it's called the middle
@@Jay-rk5zr no, this is a particular version of mid. This is mid in the same way that Britney Spears was mid because I can go into any mall in America at 11 am on a Saturday & find these women.
@@martinvulu1848Brittney could actually sing, dance, and perform. People think baby voice Brittney was her real voice. Taylor has nothing on Brittney, and I'm not even on some stan-type mess either. Brittney could still run circles around her even today. Taylor doesn't have anything noteworthy about her, no hate she's not a bad artist or singer though.
@@Jay-rk5zr 😂
dead thought that was Donald Glover for a sec
Chrisette Michelle and that youtuber that spat on her dog are the only two people that have been canceled
😂
Taylor's songwriting is not mediocre. Many of the best songwriters ever did not have the best voices or could dance.
Her music is
Alvin said “Cate Blanchett” and I immediately thought of her in Thor Ragnarok 😍
Taylor Swift being the power fantasy of yt women makes sense.
White women literally hate hard work.
A fantasy? To do what? Be a mediocre performer who performs for mediocre fans? How powerful
@@franjkav aye mane I didnt say it made good sense, I just said it made sense 🤷🏾♂️.
Agree. Imo she writes like a white damsel. White women want to feel like that. This is why Swift is not relatable to no one else and her lyrics are very juvenile and simple
@@franjkavthe power to control her narrative over a male. Specifically, White boys🌝
@9:35 I feel like it spiked during the pendemic. Somehow, during that time, she skyrocketed. I have no idea how. Those 3 pendemic albums were pretty good. But not exactly ground breaking. 🤷♀️
Does anyone else think Abbas sounds like Jamie Foxx doing his Quincy Jones impression?
wanted to add: I don't think the comparisons to MJ are appropriate. Madonna would be a better comparisons since they catered to similar demographics & were both essentially the "white woman icon" of their generation (this is not comparing talent, just target demo)
Well, as far as I know ain't nobody conquered Taylor yet. No husband. No babies. No real scandal yet.
That’s facts because who the F is Shane Gillis? I’m going to look him up now.
She brought mayonnaise to the culture 😂😪
This comedian guy is funny, thanks for having him
oh hell yes
Where is Eddy!!
Is being exceptional worthy of pursuit?
Swiffer is not even close to MJ
So? Little white girls don't care😂
That’s why I hate the comparisons to other artists. That’s a huge demographic of fans that look at her and see themselves. And for people used to being celebrated, protected, and coddled for being mediocre and relatable, it probably does look like talent to them.
Mediocre people enjoying mediocre things, how horrible
When numbers are used to represent how good a body of work is, yes. Also when mediocre people obtain employment more often for more pay, then are provided opportunities for that same job history. Yes.
@@lillybilly9954that almost sounds like affirmative action and the ol' woke pay gap promotion outrage😆
This is reminding me of a conversation I’ve had with my musician friends about the re emerging popularity of the Deftones. A notoriously mediocre band (I fucking love them) the running joke being that most cover bands can play their music better.
18:33 The Andrew Schulz formula
Cancel culture has the Streissand Effect
You can't funny your way to a 10 😂😂😂😂😂
Isn't that sad. Mediocrity trumps excellence.
crazy seeing Abbas on here, love his stand up. Hes a great guy and I'm glad you guys had him on
1:28 Alvin: That's what Iike about Rick and Morty, the character study. I don't want watch it to laugh at all. If I laugh, it's a bonus
Alvin one of those over 9000 IQ fans of Rick and Morty confirmed
I cringed. I cringed
Taylor Swift basically sings songs from a teenager's POV. Young girls and been following her because she says things they identify with across cultures. Her music isn't that great to me and I couldn't really tell you but one song. She has tapped into that diary keeping mentality. Even if teenage girls don't keep diaries these days, they still keep diaries in their head. I mean I don't even know how Taylor Swift is but she's basically still singing songs targeting females and breakups. You get with her and she's going to write a song about you and it might not be nice😅... Yo man believe it or not Latinas be going to those Taylor Swift things also. She catches on when they're young preteens with these tracks and then it goes from there. Guy with the gray jacket on is dead on about 2 minute in. I subscribed to you guys. I'm 23 years as of October and Latina. My boyfriend is a white dude and we both watching y'all and laughing. Laughing with and TBH , couple times we laugh at you guys because of the stereotypes.
Drake is rap’s Taylor Swift. He’s out there getting lapped on his own songs by J Cole and Drake is the one with more singles than Michael Jackson?!? Plus he sings too much. I don’t mind rappers who sing. Mos Def and Kid Cudi sound cool when they sing but they know their vocal range. l bet Drake thinks he’s better than Bruno Mars 😂.
Edit: to be positive, I will recommend Drake fans to listen to Anderson Paak. He is someone who can rap and sing, plus he has immaculate style.

56:29 in defense of the guest here feeling like the desired one that's being chased feels great for everyone but men don't get that feeling very often. So some men will at some time hook up with women that they think are going to look at them as much more attractive than themselves so that they can be pursued instead of feeling like they have to pursue. I think as long as everyone is open honest and just says hey we're just here to smash we both know what this is blah blah then who cares? I don't think it's malicious to pick out sexual partners that will make you feel good if your goal is to make them feel good too.
I think that is a reasonable perspective on the motivation behind the practice for some men but that’s not what this guy said or implied.
40:04 Just up there breathing all that air up there, huh? Okay...😂
The analysis of Taylor Swift using relatability to be successful seems a bit shallow.
It doesn't answer why:
A) She's the only one to ride the relatability wave to this high level of success (bc is there any other musician using relatability for this level of success?*)
B) What is it about this era that allows relatability (instead of talent) to be ridden to this level of success?
*Drake and Doja Cat might be offered as examples of successful relatability but I disagree. Drake was also a rapper that could sing and blend the two in a way that no one else was doing while being empathic to the ladies in a way that no one else was doing.
Doja Cat might be meme queen, but she can also sing/rap and dance. She used to be a popper.
I agree with your sentiment and I don’t ever intentionally listen to Swift…It’s also shallow in that most people are mediocre but Swift is clearly not in the case of how she has supposedly marketed mediocrity. Why is this bad? Why does she need to be compared to anyone with more unique or exceptional (entertainment/performance) talents? It also seems like they may be overlooking Swifts intentional efforts and actual skill as a marketer and entertainer. And furthermore, why do they seem to think fanbases always expect near perfection from performers or media? Is it possible to recognize something may not be the best in some particular way but overall still be enjoyable or interesting?
Before I hit play, I'll be sure to acknowledge "Our Song by Taylor Swift," will always get spins from me and the amount of times I've found myself humming her early 2010s hits may be embarrassing to some BUT I will stand on it. No, I will never pay more than 250 to see her in concert, but if the opportunity presented itself I'd be there, even in the nosebleeds. 🤷🏾♀️ She got cats, I like cats. She used to invite fans to her house and have baking/movie nights, and nobody got touched, sounds decent to me. 🤷🏾♀️ Now, have I heard a new song since Blank Space, I dont think so, but she never really made music FOR me so 😅
I just knew Our Song was gonna be my story and it was not even close. Ended up marrying and divorcing a dude from the Southside of Chicago who was a d**khead. No screen doors, pickup trucks, or landlines 🥲
Why y'all making me defend this white lady?? Black people think singing and dancing is what makes an artist talented. I think we forget that Taylor also writes her own lyrics and music (without 10 other people) and plays multiple instruments, and has been since she was a teen. She is also good at engaging with her audience. Not to pit women against each other, but a very popular pop artist is almost worshipped and she does none of those things, and her music shows no real growth, at least in my opinion. But call her mid and people lose their minds and talk about how hard she works, as if thats trait unique to her.
Taylor swift definitely does not right all her music so you just lied because she has a bunch of writing credits on all her albums
@@undocumented9445 She has written or co-written every song she has released and has written for other artists. And she doesn't have 10 other writers on each song.
🌝🚩
🛋️
PLEASE EXPLAIN. I have no idea why she is so freaking famous. She’s not great at anything just ok
Have you never liked something that is generally regarded as just okay?
I always said that. She is famous cause she makes basic white girls feel good
She makes very wealthy movie star women quite happy too. Ain't no movie star Beckys throwing shade at Tay Tay🌝
Funny part is the only handsome one ain’t here! Rest of yall is mad mid 😆
Literally who cares? It’s a podcast no a beauty pageant
black people hate towards taylor is truly baseless
Yeah, I'm having trouble figuring out what she stole from us🌝
Taylor Swift is one of very few artists who actually writes her own music AND writes other people music. She's been a paid music writer since she was 11.
She's not mediocre just because she's white. I'm not even a fan and I know this is stupid.
Aziz has successfully been cancelled.
Didn’t he not even really do anything though? I remember people at the time calling what the girl experienced sounding more like a bad date than anything else. And I don’t think the people saying that at the time are the kind of people to easily dismiss allegations like that.
@@trumpetking11 he didn't do anything I personally would have thought someone should get canceled for, but I didn't say he was rightfully canceled, I said he was successfully canceled. As in he is an example of a comedian that was actually cancelled and never really heard from again.
He hasn't been cancelled he's just moved behind the scenes. He always did a lot of work behind the camera and he's still doing that.
Taylor Swift has more talent+acclaim+awards than hasbeyn/any other artists as the lead artist, songwriter, producer, director, performer, multi instrumentalist (electric/acoustic guitar, piano, banjo, etc.), poet, story teller. (It’s not my baseless opinion but it’s a fact by data from numerous sources).
Here is the logic : why there’s no category for Grammys Singer/Vocalist/Dancer of The Year as the major category or the prestigious category? Then why the most prestigious category in Grammys Awards based on the one who are able to write+compose+produce an album?
With that being said that, being a songwriter is more superior than being a singer/vocalist/dancer cause it’s been proven by music critics and general public globally (sales+streams+tour+charts, etc.) that they prefer songwriter than a vocalist.
In this case, they prefer Taylor Swift over Beyonce. Not because of skin color (with that logic, Beyonce is bigger than Lady Gaga+Katy Perry+Ariana Grande) but music critics+general public are more invested in Taylor’s music (songwriting+poet+story telling).
You know that words have more power than high notes/dances/or even musical instruments to touch your heart+soul. Taylor Swift main forte is her songwriting+story telling but she’s also great as a producer+director+performer+multi instrumentalist.
Being able to use multiple instruments to write+compose a self written song/album and playing it LIVE in FULL stadium tour is the pinnacle as an artist/songwriter, meaning that many people really apreciets and connect with your music/catalogue.
P.S. We call it hasbeyn cause with her new album and world tour she couldn’t beat Michael Jackson album sales in 2023, that’s tragic! Meaning that her fans and general public didn’t consume her music catalogue that much. Also, Taylor is the best selling artist both in US+Global
