  • Learn a lot of Spanish vocabulary and grammar in only 20 minutes! I will teach you what the word “ya” means in Spanish, where to place it, and why it is used so often. First, we will explain the Spanish grammatical point of view of the words “ya”. I will then teach you the scenarios where the Spanish word “ya” is used. Finally, we will talk about the most common phrases in Spanish with the word “ya” such as: I am almost done, “ya casi termino”; I know already, “ya sé”; I ate, “ya comí”. Also, I will teach you about the words la, lo, los, las -- direct objects in Spanish.

      Adults learning languages need to be spoken to in a light, simple, childish way. Childish brains are the ones that easily pick up new languages, not adult brains!

      @@ArgenrX fyi: idioma= language. In English, the definition of idiom is a group of words whose meaning considered as a unit is different from the meanings of each word considered separately. An example of an idiom would be "It's raining cats and dogs," meaning there is a heavy downpour of rain. Just thought I'd help explain, since "language" and "idiom" are easily confused.

      Yes I totally enjoy watching her videos!! I wish she would have another section on each lesson for homework...I find it hard to retain what she teaches, because I have to do quizzes and questions on things I have been taught, in order to really learn them.     4:09 Really appreciate you mentioning Spain's use of preterite perfect when Latin America uses simple preterite. Saved me a lot of strange looks while practicing in Mexico City.

      YESSSS. I learned Latin American Spanish (if I can call it that) and then moved to Spain, and since I was working with teachers they were constantly correcting me haha. And then when I came back to the U.S. I could speak better Spanish since I was more fluent but everyone kept kinda laughing at how I was saying things. My friends would say, "I mean, I guess you can say it that way, it just sounds strange," and if I went to a market, they would immediately ask if I were from Spain. It is definitely important to learn both kinds of Spanish and to switch between them depending on who you are talking to if you want to blend in. XD

      I started watching these videos about two years ago when I didn't know any Spanish. In the past few months in Colombia, I was able to rent a house, rent a car, go out on dates, order food at restaurants, take taxis, etc. I'm still not fluent, but I am communicating in Spanish and it's awesome. All thanks to Ana and her videos.

      Well, it's the same in my case. I live in Italy actually came for my master degree. I learned more spanish than Italian by watching her videos. And I went to Barcelona for Erasmus program. It helped me a lot.

      Probably your search engined gave it to you in your recommended videos if you typed the word "ya" into it or...if you talked about the word "ya" near your cell phone and your speaker heard you and then your conversation(s) were used to help the advertisers on the social media giants like Facebook, Twitter, CZcams and Google... the Giant Tech Companies are literally spying on everyone through their apps, cell phones, laptops and social media.

      “Ya entiendo” can also mean “ I get it” I get the meaning or get the explanation. If the person doing the explanation goes on and on , I say “ I get it already!” Then “ ya cállate ! “

    I am from Poland and I'm learning Spanish with your videos :) we have "ya" in Polish (its już) I see so many similarities in our languages although they are so different and sometimes I feel funny when you're explaining something in English in 20 minutes because there is no equivalent word in English and I understand it so quickly because we have the equivalent in Polish ❤ languages are wonderful!

    Thank you! I cannot believe how much Spanish I have formally studied and how long I have lived in Spanish-speaking countries and ya still escapes me. The only time it comes naturally is when someone is ringing my doorbell repeatedly AND texting to let me know they're at the door and I shout out ¡Ya voy! as I race to the door!

    Ya entiento, jaja. My friend writes to me "Ya estoy en casa" when she gets home from work. I always thought she was telling me that she had been home for a period of time already. This made me understand better.

      Tbh its more in how u say it. If u say the same thing but with attitude it means a whole different thing. Kinda like how what ever in english.
      Ya can mean so many things depending on the use. Its not so much learned as its just picked up the more u speak. Its a very colloquial thing

    In Spanish from Spain, 'ya' sometimes has the meaning 'yeah,' as in 'Yeah, I know that'. It's extremely informal though.
