This is why I advocate heavily for vetting harder & not meeting ppl early on after matching, regardless of what the almighty internet tells you to do. Every match is a total stranger who is potentially out of their freaking gourd, but usually on their best behavior at first. When it's not right it'll fizzle out or blow up quickly one way or another. By taking your time, you waste & risk less. I started out exchanging info & meeting a couple matches early because I thought that was "normal" & learned it's just bad pie. Had much better experiences after I started insisting on a 2-3 wk on app chat before ever considering exchanging numbers or a date. The good ones respected it. A simple "no" to meeting too soon or sharing pics can weed out a lot of stupidity early on. I only met 5 matches, 1 turned into a very healthy relationship so I am speaking from experience.

As someone who was in a 2 week "relationship" with someone like this, we HAVE to be patient. We don't know the level of unhinged the person is, and we NEED to be calm and collected and not flip out or else we could get assaulted/killed for retaliating. Not every time obviously, but the statistics of assault on women from men are high enough we have to keep our guards up around strangers. The best course of action is to ghost because we cant say ANYTHING without being scrutinized by people like this, plus in this specific situation he could see her, but she didn't see him. I had to keep my eyes on the ground, and live in fear that he would really put me in the hospital. Had a situation like this happen to a friend I work with. She didn't want a second date because the dude was super rude to the waiters and trying to be all macho man. After she turns him down for a 2nd date saying he was too disrespectful. He responds with "Yeah but I would never disrespect you, you stupid bitch" And I just think that's gold.

I met a few of these back when I online dated over 10 years ago and I always suspected they were testing how much abuse I was willing to take. My wife and I moved extremely quickly from dating to marriage which I’d certainly not recommend to anyone else, but we were very direct and upfront about where we were at in life, what we were like, what we were looking for etc etc etc. We both brought our strengths and weaknesses into the marriage and it’s still been very tough at some points (we got married three weeks before the pandemic really kicked off and I work in healthcare so that unlocked a whole stream of chaos for a variety of reasons) but actually having some idea of what we were going into when we got married was huge. It also requires a ton of introspection, too, to be able to be direct and I feel like that’s something people may struggle with. But yeah, if you’re wanting to go long-term it’s all going to come out anyway, and the longer you hide stuff the harder it’s going to be to resolve it in the relationship. Plus building a relationship on a foundation of honesty and communication is such a huge way to maintain trust and openness, too. We’ve been happily married for almost four years now, which isn’t a long time by any means but considering how many don’t even make it through the first year I feel like it’s a very solid start.

This is why I advocate heavily for vetting harder & not meeting ppl early on after matching, regardless of what the almighty internet tells you to do. Every match is a total stranger who is potentially out of their freaking gourd, but usually on their best behavior at first. When it's not right it'll fizzle out or blow up quickly one way or another. By taking your time, you waste & risk less. I started out exchanging info & meeting a couple matches early because I thought that was "normal" & learned it's just bad pie. As someone who was in a 2 week "relationship" with someone like this, we HAVE to be patient. We don't know the level of unhinged the person is, and we NEED to be calm and collected and not flip out or else we could get assaulted/killed for retaliating. Not every time obviously, but the statistics of assault on women from men are high enough we have to keep our guards up around strangers. This made me cry. Just flat-out triggered. Not Charlie's fault at all. I was in a relationship for two years, back when I was much younger, much more naive. This man-child physically, verbally, and mentally abused me for saying hello to a male cashier who sold me a soda. I had to keep my eyes on the ground, and live in fear that he would really put me in the hospital. After I was extracted from his apt by police, it took a few more years for me to learn to look up, and to stop looking over my shoulder in fear that he was coming after me. LADIES, nobody deserves that. I'm happy this woman here got a real warning before getting involved.

This is what happens when dudes spend too much time watching "based chad manosphere" content. Not saying there's no positive messages to be gleaned from it whatsoever, not saying there's not wmen out there who legit revel in messing guys around, but this whole war of the sexes thing and people just being on edge/angry all the time is 100% having a catastrophic effect on society.
People losing their social skills during the pandemic is one thing, but I also think what's happened is the type of discourse people engage in on social media (especially Twitter) has spilled over into real life. A lot of people used to say "You wouldn't say that to someone in real life", but now people have become extremely brazen and are saying the type of sh!t they say online in real life and it's fcking terrible. The utter lack of common decency and people saying the type stuff that escalates situations instead of being rational and trying to deescalate them is causing some really bad sh!t to happen.

Had a situation like this happen to a friend I work with. She didn't want a second date because the dude was super rude to the waiters and trying to be all macho man. After she turns him down for a 2nd date saying he was too disrespectful. He responds with "Yeah but I would never disrespect you, you stupid bitch" And I just think that's gold.

They act that way because they have expectations and feel entitled to get something out of it because they were nice and once they don't get their own way that's when they reveal their true bitter colours. If someone was really nice 1 they wouldn't go telling everyone, 2 they wouldn't act this insecure and think you're cheating without even accessing the situation or actually talking to the person like a regular human being. And 4 if they were rejected they wouldn't immediately turn to insults like bitch, whore, slut or whatever else they say. It's always just an act so they can get what they want.

I met a few of these back when I online dated over 10 years ago and I always suspected they were testing how much abuse I was willing to take. Like if I responded and begged them to give me a second chance then they would have known i was the type of woman they were looking for. My wife and I moved extremely quickly from dating to marriage which I’d certainly not recommend to anyone else, but we were very direct and upfront about where we were at in life, what we were like, what we were looking for etc etc etc. We both brought our strengths and weaknesses into the marriage and it’s still been very tough at some points (we got married three weeks before the pandemic really kicked off and I work in healthcare so that unlocked a whole stream of chaos for a variety of reasons) but actually having some idea of what we were going into when we got married was huge. It also requires a ton of introspection, too, to be able to be direct and I feel like that’s something people may struggle with. But yeah, if you’re wanting to go long-term it’s all going to come out anyway, and the longer you hide stuff the harder it’s going to be to resolve it in the relationship. Plus building a relationship on a foundation of honesty and communication is such a huge way to maintain trust and openness, too. We’ve been happily married for almost four years now, which isn’t a long time by any means but considering how many don’t even make it through the first year I feel like it’s a very solid start.

I was hoping he would say ya know, go on a nice date, take a hike together, literally anything slightly more appealing than going to his place to f*ck. He responded by calling me entitled, saying that I should want to hang out with him no matter what we were doing simply because I’d be around him. Like I’m sorry, maybe if we had been dating for a while. But on a first time meet up? No I’m not gonna just show up simply because it’s you. I don’t actually know you? He topped it off with a good ol “why are you women so emotional”. Classic.
These types of people LOVE telling us that we are the emotional ones while being overly emotional themselves 🙄... Also, reminds me of the time some dude on the bus sat next to me, started drilling me with the weirdest questions about me, then not even 3 minutes later he asked me if I wanted to go to his house, like barely a few minutes into talking to me and he thinks I would want to go to his house when I don't know a single thing about him, like he hadn't even told he his name yet. Then he followed me off the bus.

IF he is a real person, there is no way he didnt recognise it was a waiter she was speaking to, but no other opportunity to make her appear like the bad guy turned up. At the very least he was watching her for a while before the waiter incident occured. No way it happened as he was walking up to her table.
