has been THE most important/newsworthy event at least this calendar year. WHY was the mayor not there representing the town AND his constituents? This man should have been allowed to attend, but WHY wasn't this mayor interested enough to attend? His actions/behavior have been questionable from the beginning--remember when he cursed and belittled BETO O'ROURKE at the Governor's press briefing on the day of the shooting? BTW --Abbott claims to have attended a community worship event at the Uvalde County Fairplex on June 5th, but Texas Rep. Roland Gutierrez states NO ONE saw him there. The last day he was in Uvalde was May 29th, the same day President and Mrs. Biden visited a public vigil and met with family members of the victims. Abbott has not attended any funeral services or met with any family members.

So sad that a mother after losing a child still spiteful not allowing the father in a child’s life but allows the stepfather. If both men lived and where there for that little girl and after everything there’s no need for that mother to do those things
I just can't believe what I'm seeing. This latest video makes CLEAR the cops were told there was a child calling from inside the classroom with the killer. And still nobody did anything or moved with any urgency. That was the time to scratch, claw and break down the doors and walls to get in that room! No excuses--There were dozens of them in the hallway and now we learn hundreds more outside!! Every time more information dribbles out about this incident the worse and worse it looks for these officers (and I'm not just talking about Chief Arredondo). I'm a huge law enforcement supporter but I just don't have words to describe my disdain and disappointment at the complete failure on the part of these cops.
As far as numbers they had about 2-3 military companies in cops. Battles in war have been fought with less yet they struggled to take out a single belligerent.
They did not even try the door handle. I think "waiting on a key" was just another excuse
@@B_Bodziak In the newly released video they show Chief Arredondo trying different keys in a lock, but the reporter said that it wasn't a door leading to either of the two adjoining classrooms where the shooter was, it was a third classroom. There is so much that the Chief, and all the cops who stood around, did that day that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. To know that there were hundreds of heavily armed cops standing around while kids were trapped with that monster makes me sick just thinking about it.
Maybe Texas should put donut shops in schools.

Couldn't disagree with that woman more. The school didnt fail, the police did. The teachers did nothing wrong. She talks about having to protect the kids, that's exactly what the fucking teachers did, it's all about what the police didnt do. She's fucking nuts. She also answered his question about other school's safety when it comes to violence with some buillshit about all the other dangers... sure there are other dangers out there but obviously the most catastrophic are mass shootings....which is the topic of discussion. She also talks about how teachers need to be trained and how they are the first responders, no, no they are not, they are teachers. They cant be teachers, parents, therapists, armed guards, EMT, all in one.
The School did fail. The door that the shooter entered was unlocked and that is the fault of the School. Those doors should have Panic Hardware installed on them that only permit Exit and not Entry but someone messed up and left the door unlocked and vulnerable to being entered. It's really a shame that Schools require that sort of Security BUT if that is the case then it must be done Correctly without Fail otherwise exactly what happened in Uvalde could very easily be repeated.
I was wondering the same thing. None of the other incidents can have the potential impact of a school shooting so what do they have to do with the subject at hand? And why is her solution to further fortify the schools when there's the obvious solution of making implements designed to take lives less easily accessible to unstable individuals?

Absolutely!! Top to bottom. Also, all schools need to be audited asap to ensure locks are working, active shooter protocol, etc. I can't believe I'm typing about active shooter protocols and school kids. My grandson is 2.5 and I am terrified of him going to school.
These parents have every right to be mad at the mayor and the police. The fact that the mayor just got up and walked away and didn't even show remorse just shows how callus he and others are to these grieving families. Right now, the individuals in charge (the police chief, the mayor, the officers who were there) all of them need to provide answers to these families about what happened with the officers, why they didn't go in, and what they can all do to try and prevent this from happening and to hold those officers accountable.

Rich, I was wondering about that too. Because the way he worded it, saying, “Unfortunately, this is a state where sometimes moms get the upper hand… and [people] only listen to one side of the story & not the other side,” it made me think that the only reason why he would’ve been escorted out, once he was already sitting inside, is if the mom complained & said that he’s not supposed to be there. I think she did more than just failed to back him up, I think she caused the whole thing to happen in the first place.

I originally agreed with initial comment but then thought there may be a protection order. Sometimes with custodial issues within the school you have to set up separate conferences etc., due to legal orders. That being said, maybe they could have worked something out so he could hear first hand with other parents what they found in the review.

The father's experience sheds light to other systemic cancers that our society needs to rid itself of. It sounds like the mother of his late daughter was the only one invited to that meeting and had the power to keep him out. We are always talking about equal rights for women. What about equal rights for fathers? I thank God that I got a good woman.

The conflict is that the media has been featuring the deceased daughter’s stepfather and biological father interchangeably. Someone probably goofed and put the stepfather’s name and it wasn’t corrected, so he was escorted out. There’s probably bad blood with the baby mama if she didn’t intervene.

One mother left her job and went to the school and entered the school and saved her child and another child while the cops stood outside and then they criticized her. I guess they were embarrassed that she was brave and they weren’t.
The only time they act swiftly is when they run away to avoid questions from families of the victims.
That's disgraceful. A list shouldn't matter. His daughter died for God's sake. None of the victims families should have been denied entry. The whole ordeal was solely the responsibility of law enforced. The video shows abunch of law enforcement just standing in the hallway. They should have been breaking down doors to locate any kids or teachers left in the building. Texas and it's gun laws is contradictory to the actions of the officers. Hypocrites one and all. All due to governor Abbott's and his republican cronies.

I hate, hate, HATE to think that this is Now a part of my everyday fears I have for my child, that is now definitively on my list of dangers to my kid, as a parent. Right after this nightmare event went down, my kid still had 2 weeks left before our school districts last day. During those final days, I became extra vigilant during each mornings drop off and afternoons pickups. I found myself going over by driving around her Elementary schools campus. Just thinking about how my childs school would currently handle a situation like that in Uvalde or similar to what led up to the tragedies. I saw no difference in how her schools approach to getting prepared or prevention from something like that being able to happen there. How depressing is it to think that my childs school is possibly on that same list since the campus itself is dangerous since the staff are possibly under that same belief that that wouldn't happen here.

There is a list is because of non-custodial men treating their baby mommas so badly that the system steps in to help. My guess, He wasn’t on the list because HISTORICALLY he can’t respect the woman in the room that mothered his lost child.
Sigh... was that school safety lady really going back to the whole locked door thing again? It sounded to me like she was putting a lot of the onus on teachers and school staff which again avoids the real problem. It's hard enough for teachers to teach but you want them to also keep up with medic/survival training, shooting training, drilling to take on active shooters? Putting it on school staff to take up all this additional training is putting tons of money towards putting a bandaid on a symptom and not treating the actual cause. Sure, like all nations we have mental health issues but if you wanna deflect to that then actually fund mental health programs! Ultimately though we HAVE to address the guns because we are the only nation with this problem.
The so called School Safety Lady has a very particular job to do and that job is "School Safety". That is what the person is paid to do and in the Uvalde situation the job was not done and it was a tragic mistake but a mistake none the less and responsibility must be taken regardless. Although it may not be classified as Criminal Negligence it must be addressed and appropriate actions do need to be taken. There is a malignant Cancer that exists in the minds of Young, Predominately White Males in the US that drives them to commit these Mass Shootings and it is fueled by the accessibility to Semi-Automatic Weapons. Japan has a very high incidence of Mental Illness/Suicide but their access to guns is extremely limited. Only one situation there with multiple gun related fatalities in the last ten years. The US has dozens every Week and that tells a the whole story that can't be denied but somehow it does.
It is sad that we in the US NEED an Educator School Safety Network!!! Where are we?!?!?!? Get rid of these guns. PERIOD! No training needed, no equipment needed, no more nightmares. She is DEAD WRONG!

I don’t live in the USA, I don’t have children and I have never even touched a gun. But if I were in that hallway when the shooter was in the school, I would have grabbed a gun and gone in. Maybe those cowards would have followed 🙄 Knowing that I would have been there, had done nothing while children were being shot, is something I could not live with. My blood is boiling.
Every single police officer in that school on that day, including the “commander” (give me a break) should be fired immediately and should be prosecuted.

This is so heartbreaking. This is what happens when we don't work together guys and gals. You bring up some valid points but let me say this. First and most importantly, I wasn't making fun of veterans. The point that you missed was that there are numerous vets who walk around like that for intimidation purposes. What other purpose would somebody need to wear a flak jacket? I get that it is their rights and trust me I am all for rights. I see videos of people on CZcams - four or five guys walking down the street with their military issued flak jackets - which I can only hope they are vets because if they were current active military their asses would be court-martialed so fast their heads would spin, and they are all carrying AR's on their backs. And for what? We have states that are willing to bend their views on "drugs" (marijuana) and decriminalize it. Yet those same States and their respective leaders absolutely refuse to work on anything when it comes to gun control laws. Are they going to keep guns out of the hands of criminals and deranged people? No, not all of them, but even if it's one less that's a good day.

Hell, we still have a real reason to worry but the argument of saying you own a semi-automatic weapon to protect yourself from your government is bogus. To protect yourself means one's actions are to prevent or preserve - property, life, etc. If the US military shows up at somebody's door who happens to make that argument of protecting themselves from their government, it can generally be ascertained that one's not going to succeed in that aspect of hoping to preserve or prevent. They're just not. The government back in the 1700s and 1800s did not have the type of technology we do today. They didn't have Jets like the A-10 warthog - outfitted with 30 mm gatlin style guns that can spray 3900 rounds/min, that's what I meant when I said if the government wanted to eliminate somebody or a group they could and with ease. In 1776 they had muskets who's projectiles traveled at a thousand feet per second. Today's AR-15s shoot at about 3,900 ft per second with magazines holding 30 rounds.
You said that I am part of the problem as a concealed carry owner and that the chances of someone stopping a mass shooting are basically slim. Have you seen the news today about the shooting at the mall in indiana? A man sitting in the food court who had his concealed carry with him shot and killed a man who had already killed three people in the mall. A while back there was a gentleman who saw a trooper in a fight for his life he stopped his car got out shot the perpetrator attacking the trooper and that ended the situation. Those are the epitome of examples when it comes to citizens emphasizing the word to "protect" themselves.
