When a drive becomes RAW, the file system of this drive might be completely corrupted, and there is no way you can access the data in this drive. This is very frustrating, but do not worry. In this video, we will guide you on how to convert a RAW drive back to NTFS.
    The timestamp of this video:
0:10 What is a RAW error?
1:15 How to check if your drive is RAW?
    1:32 Not-to-Dos on a RAW drive
3:00 How to fix the RAW drive
5:00 What is Manual Recovery Service
6:25 How to contact EaseUS Manual Recovery
Not-to-Dos when your drive turns into RAW:
If you have important data on that RAW drive, please do not perform the following:
1.Do NOT format the disk even it is asking you to do that
2.You are not recommended to run CHKDSK on the raw disk
3.Do NOT run Clean diskpart command to wipe the disk
The steps to convert a RAW drive to NTFS without data loss:
1.Run EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard and choose the raw drive to start a scan and wait for the Advanced Scan to complete.
2.Find the files you need from the result and use the preview pane to check if the files you want are good or not.
3.Select the good files and recover them to a different drive.
4.Delete the raw drive in Disk Management and create a new volume and format it to NTFS.
5.Copy the recovered folder to the new drive you just created if you want.
EaseUS Manual Recovery Service can be considered as a more effective way to fix the raw disk. One professional agent will be assigned to you and he will be fully responsible for your case. Furthermore, we use Diagnose First, Pay Later mode, so you don’t have to pay any penny before we confirm the issue can be properly solved.

Generally it might be caused by the bad sectors on your hard drive. You can try the following steps to check:
      1. Check if you can access Disk Management, and check if this drive can be properly listed in Disk Management
      2. Use a tool such as HDTune to scan the bad sectors on this hard drive.
You can also use secure.livechatinc.com/licence/1389892/v2/open_chat.cgi?groups=6 to contact our support to help you with this issue.

My external 4tb hdd was in exfat, which turned raw due to power disruption while copying files. I ran chkdsk /f command to recover raw. But to my surprise, it deleted all 3.4tb data as orphaned files, and left around 50gb and drive turned into ntfs. I just took out the drive safely so that i dont copy anything on it. Is there any hope left for me or not. Or all the data deleted as orphaned files is lost forever.

Video suggests not to run chkdsk so first thing I do is run "chkdsk h: /f /v /r"
In my situation I have an 8TB drive that I dock, and this method will not help me whatsoever at all. With patience this could resolve my problems. I only have games installed on the drive. If any files are corrupted I can just verify the integrity of the files to repair said files. Anyway, I'll see how patient I am. I'm hoping it'll be done when I get home from work tomorrow.
Edit: This video does not want you to use chkdsk since that'll prevent them from making money from all potential customers. Running "chkdsk x: /f /v /r" with x being m drive letter led to my fix. No data loss. I wish I performed this fix a long time ago on a drive that probably would have otherwise been fine if it were not for a power failure. Normally a power failure causes this problem, and a chkdsk with those extensions will in fact repair the issue.

Dear Greg, in most cases, Raw means the file system of the drive was corrupted and to use Check Disk command can cause the further damage of the drive on this hard drive. To use Check Disk command cannot solve all the Raw errors and that is the reason we do not suggest customers to run it before an investigation on the drive.

This video is one of those that waste your time, you can't put (that's misleading) "How to Convert RAW drive to NTFS (Without Data Losing)", for all the data they are important, but say (DIRECTLY) that they will convert " RAW to NTFS and without losing data", that is already manipulative and misleading (I only express what I feel), because the process of obtaining the data (you can use some distribution of LINUX and recover all the information -passing it to another storage- included with your folders) I can do it in different ways and for free. What I wanted is just to fix the RAW to NTFS problem (simple as that, LOL) and apparently this program will just recover the (messy) data and copy it to another place we choose. I thought the program would help to go back from RAW to NTFS, well I wasted my time watching this video.
PS: I haven't wanted to use the LINUX distribution yet (I've already done it before and it works perfectly), because I don't have an extra 18TB external drive (which is the capacity of my external drive that I'm having problems with, although I've already bought it and tomorrow it arrives), this is my best solution so far, I will install a virtual machine and install some LINUX distribution that will be able to read RAW, to copy my data ordered (in its folders) and thus save the information and then I ONLY HAVE TO FORMAT THE UNIT as simple and ready.
      Well, thanks for nothing.

    • @EAprima
      @EAprima Před rokem

If you brought the drive recently you need to send it back immediately. If you had the drive for a long time and that issue occurred it's a high chance your HDD is dead. Normally, when a drive slows down to a ridiculous crawl or not shifting much at all, it means either your drive is dying, dead, or the needle is trapped.
Do the drive make a clicking sound when activated? If it does then that's your needle. It would mean you need to get that needle back into the correct position by opening your drive, shift the needle back in the correct position, close it, buy another HDD and copy ALL the data from the fixed HDD to the new one then throw the old one away when complete. If you open the drive DO NOT open it in free space (your room, kitchen, etc). You need to ensure that ZERO dust goes on the disk. Search on CZcams for solution explaining how to construct your own Dust Free Containing for HDD fixing, or take your HDD to a specialist (the specialist would do the SAME THING I've told you to do). DO NOT attempt this without checking via youtube for someone to give you a demonstration so you know what to do.
BTW - HDD are ridiculously bad at telling you the truth. Just because your CPU says the HDD is healthy it doesn't mean it is. All you can do with HDD is keep monitoring and cross your fingers for like a graphics card, a great HDD is like hitting the lottery. A great one is one that doesn't fail for a very long time and maintained the same speed as when you first purchased it.
I hope this helps... If you ever read this message, please let me know what what you did in the end.
