    Hiking the Grouse Grind is no leisurely stroll. It requires effort and determination. We Americans are about to leave Canada and we just had to try this iconic adventure. It's a one way trail that brings you to the top of Grouse Mountain, where there are tons of summer-time activities to enjoy as you cool down. There are restaurants, gift shops, zip-lines and even a couple of grizzly bears!

    I miss that mountain so much! I taught snowboarding there from 2006-2012. I can't count how many times I've done the Grind or how many times I've been up and down those Skyrides (Both the Red and Blue) I also worked there as a lifty is 2001. I remember when Grinder and Coola were just little bear cubs. Watching this video was like taking me home.

      We think about our time there all the time too! It's a great place.

    I did the Grouse Grind about 30 years ago before it was well marked and had man made stairs. Thought I would die before I got to the top. But did it and I can proudly say I did! But will never do again.. especially 30 years later. Well done! It's a bucket list thing to do.

      It was a tough one for sure! I can't imagine it not being marked and no stairs! It had to be pretty scary too?

    I just created a similar video about hiking and biking up to and past the Grouse Grind. Once you do it enough times, it becomes almost addictive.

    Amazing work guys! So glad you did the Grind! I try and do it once a week and it's always intimating but sooooo worth it!! Melissa, you looked like and absolute pro! Chris, you killed it! Urban Myth, the 1/4 mark is actually more than 1/3 the way up, I heard a rumour that it was to intimidate poorly prepared tourists, those with no water or those too out of shape to make it. The secret to knowing how far along you are is to look at the small trail markers, there's 40 and they'’re evenly numbered.

    • @chrisplusmelissa
      @chrisplusmelissa  Před 3 lety

      It was way tough... a great workout! ( I did notice the small numbers and figured they were the real thing... also, we had a local just in front of us that climbs it all the time... she gave us the inside info! :D)

    I was born and raised in Vancouver. The first time I did the grind, by the time I got to the quarter mark I thought, you’ve got to be kidding. I thought it was the most difficult physical thing I’d ever done,and I swore I’d never do it again. That was at least a thousand grinds ago.
