So it turns out I actually ordered white paper from KDP on accident! 🤣 Disregard what I said about KDP's supposedly "cream" paper in this video! 🤣 Update: Amazon's cream paper is extremely similar to Barnes and Noble Press cream paper. I find Amazon's binding to be sturdier though.
Have you ever tried to go back in and change the trim size after publishing?

I was also super curious about B&N, which is why I wanted to try it out. I thought it might be good for sending some early ARCs, but it's so different from how my normal books would look that I'm nervous to order any more of those.

It so is! I feel your pain! 😩 Hopefully this was semi helpful in helping you choose. I know it's kind of paralyzing sometimes when there's decision overload! And there is definitely no "one" industry standard to go off of.
For your book what font size and spacing did you go with?

For the cover, my font is really big! One hundred and something... For the interior text, I used a 12 point font but the formatting software I use (which is called Vellum) changes it too I think. So between 12 and 14 point font probably. Something like that.

I'm new to all of this, so pardon my ignorance... If I set my manuscript paper size to 5.5" x 8.5" do I create a book cover that is 5.5" x 8.5" also? Or does the book cover have to be bigger? How much bigger?
I published a printed book on KDP and discovered after receiving the physical proof that I wanted to change the trim size down from 6x9 to 5x7.5. They warned that you cannot change the trim size after publishing. I thought I could just "Unpublish" and then go in and change the settings, but it is not letting me. Do I basically have to start over again with this? How does that affect my ISBN #, and the auto-sync with my digital version of the book? Should I start a new book and then delete the old one, and cross my fingers that everything else about the book does NOT change? Thank you for your help! I have not found any source of info online on how to change trim size AFTER publishing!
Ooh, that's tough! I'd suggest contacting Amazon directly for this, as I have no experience with how it would affect your ISBN. I know that there are several things you cannot change after publishing, but I think there might be options for republishing a previously published book. Again, I'd definitely suggest reaching out to Amazon directly. In the future, just so you know, you are able to set up your print book, not hit the "publish" button for it yet, and request a proof copy. Would highly recommend doing that for future projects just to ensure everything checks out before fully publishing.

@@lataradragoo6085 No problem! And my cover designer for this book is actually myself haha! I'm definitely an amateur with Photoshop. I did do a lot of messing around with Photoshop and trying different things before designing this cover though. And it was all extremely frustrating. But you can definitely design a pretty decent cover with some genre research and a healthy dose of trial and error!

Thank you! It is right around 200 pages. Right now, in it's final draft, it is 207 pages.
