- Barnes & Noble Press Unboxing - Hardcover & Paperback Review // Today we are doing an unboxing and &quality review of the self-publishing platform, Barnes & Noble Press. In a previous video I did a full tutorial on how to upload and publish your book through Barnes & Noble Press. Now it's time to look at the quality of the books they produce in both hardcover and paperback. I'll be looking at printing quality, paper, alignment on the cover and interior, and so much more! After spending a lot of time, I think it is safe to say, that getting paid more royalties is where it's at. Writing a book of at least 300 pages takes so much effort. Cashing in is the best way to pay for hard work.

Can you tell me what font do you use and how you got straight commas because mine are curved and the option in my word document are only for inverted commas

You can always hire a cover design to create something like a classical book cover
what paper did you choose ie I noted they had 50# and white and cream? Also, is there a way to get proof copy or advance copies for review and how does this work with Amazon exclusivity clause.
What considerations are there, if any, for printing a book that was previously ebook-only? Is it okay if you're just starting out and want to do ebook first, then think about printing later? Or is better to try and do it all in one go from the start? Also, if you decide to make your own LLC down the line (to me it seems sensible to wait until you are earning a certain amount at least), how does that affect your backlist in terms of publisher info on the listing? Can you update it then? Sorry for asking multiple questions. I've done searches on these topics but the information is a bit overwhelming.
9:07 were you able to select the color for the inside cover/case laminate? Or is that dark/navy blue the only option they have? Thanks!!
If you upload a custom case laminate you design, then technically it can be whatever design you wnat
Hey, how did you format your book? I’m currently writing a book on Google Docs but it doesn’t allow me to add my book title to one page and name to the other when it comes to headers, it only lets me do one or the other.

I just wanted to say thanks for the info. I would also say I consider KDP's new printed cover - hard cover is pure crap. I got that same proof that has the band saying "not for resale" but that's okay because I wouldn't sell the proof copy anyway. But the cover was warped right out of the box. It's just a piece of cardboard and the wet printing ink makes it curl up and it gets worse as it ages. I will buy all of my hardcover books from Ingram Spark or a private printer. The KDP no jacket printed hard cover and the B&N plain digital cloth covers are not worth the extra money. Get a digital or a soft cover unless you are a collector with a desire for a nicely bound book, printed with gold print on the spine, title and author's name and a nice dust cover.
Hey, may you tell me if the hardcover books are able to stay open / lie flat on their own? That is my biggest concern with Print on Demand services.
They don't. They're on the stiff side
