    Great post. With some really helpful tips. Already ordered my radiator brushes, I’ve got two solo panels. One on the caravan and one on the camper van. Always found it difficult to get right underneath. Thanks for the tip. 😁👍

    Thanks for the video and the recommendation. I've seen "Elbow Grease" before - possibly in B&M?
    I'll look out for that.

      Thanks Alison & Keith. You can't beat a Man cave, I have one and it stops me from getting under Juliet's Feet😂. Love using elbow grease and its so cheap too. Our van has had its post winter clean. Away very soon so it will get another wash before we go. Have a lovely time when you are away. P&J🙂👍

    Hi Phil. Just ordered one of the brushes from you link. I've been looking at these brushes for ages and I saw them for sale in our local garden centre £8.99 😮 I was thinking that it will be ideal for the sky window at the front of the caravan and also for the plastic gutter below and above the front windows. Thanks for sharing Paul and Sarah

      Hi Paul. Hope all is well. The rad brush can be used for all sorts of cleaning. The thin long brush I showed is great for round the front window. I tend to use it on Coachman's the most due to the front logo gutter getting blocked very easily. Many Thanks Phil🙂👍

    Good stuff is elbow grease, try their paste tub on plastics too, slightly abrasive so be careful but wow it does the job.

    Don't use a sponge, dirt magnets leading to scratches, use a wash mitt, a noodle one will be good, the same at the blue brush.
    after you have cleaned the yellow of the trims to a nice white you could use some protectant to stop the yellowing coming back so quick, something like autoglym vinyl and rubber care or bumper gel as both have uv protected ingrediants.
    what is a good tip to add is that if you have the van flat then it would be better to tip the front up a bit to allow water to run of the rear, the rare as the front of vans generally have more moulding and windows so rear is easier.
    nice little vid

      Hi Ste. Noodles are a great idea. I use noodle pads on a pole. I find a sponge and hand brushes better for the roof even more so when they are minging. Many Thanks Phil:)

    What order would you suggest to do the cleaning - top , sides, windows & then locker detail??

    • @lostweekendscaravan
      @lostweekendscaravan  Před 5 měsíci

      Hi Linda. Good question. Start with the roof and around the skylights. Then the rear and front (including gas locker and around the window seals) followed by the sides including window seals and wheels last of all. Depending on where your van is park (not under trees) the roof may only need cleaning twice a year. If under tree at least 4 times for the roof.
      Hope this helps. Phil👍🙂

    Good video, I’m in the process of “cleaning” and doing up a 20 year old caravan I’ve tried a few of the branded caravan cleaners which don’t seem to do as good on an old van as they do on the new ones….. I recommend the elbow grease, I use the stuff in the tub “ mild abrasive” however what would you recommend for cleaning the awning rail trims ? Mine are supposed to be light grey but are currently black with grime etc the elbow grease “mild abrasive” is cleaning it but I don’t want to remove surrounding paintwork. Have you come across anything that would do the trick ?

    • @lostweekendscaravan
      @lostweekendscaravan  Před 4 měsíci

      Hi Steve. Thanks for watching. In answer to your question. I would use a awning channel cleaning brush. I would dip it in silky and use this. Just take care you don't go at it too hard. Here 2 links of brushes I use.
      Hope they help you. Thanks Phil👍🙂.

    The radiator brush is a great idea. I use snow foam on the roof , it has a citrus pre wash in which lifts the grime. What’s your thoughts on the Wet & Forget.

    • @lostweekendscaravan
      @lostweekendscaravan  Před 5 měsíci

      Hi TT. Some snow foams can be very effective as a pre soak. I have to say I have never used Wet & Forget. My concern is over time it may effect the soft plastics on the windows, but I could be wrong. I have not read about any long term tests of it hence me not using it. Thanks Phil🙂👍

    Hello Phil, we have just been out in our caravan for the first time this year, I was cleaning the outside with a product called muck off it’s a pink type of stuff, works well, but is there anything that will stop the dreadful green mouldy stuff from coming back after every winter in storage, many thanks. 👍.

    • @lostweekendscaravan
      @lostweekendscaravan  Před 4 měsíci

      Hi BB. Hope you had a great time. I have not tried anything yet. I do believe some folk on FaceBook have been using 'Wet N Forget'. They say it works but I have concerns regarding whether it could harm the Windows? The other option is fit a full cover. If I get more info I'll put it in a update video. Sorry I can't be more helpful. Phil🙂👍

    • @lostweekendscaravan
      @lostweekendscaravan  Před 5 měsíci

      Hi David I cannot recommend using it on the front and rear. I am not of the make of your van but some vans have an off white finish. If they are dull I do have video coming out in a couple of weeks. Thanks Phil 👍🙂

      @@lostweekendscaravan Thanks for the reply. Have you any suggestions for a problem we have just discovered. We have Swift Challenger 442 and the panel above the 3 front windows that has the Swift logo on the panoramic window has got water in it. No water is coming into the caravan and I have been quoted about £1000 to replace with £800 for the panel and £200 labour. Any ideas? Thanks

    • @lostweekendscaravan
      @lostweekendscaravan  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Hi David. I am guessing you are talking about the front sun roof. It sounds like the seal is the issue. This is a common issue with Swifts. Before 2018 they were not sealed enough, after 2018 they over sealed them which can cause the sunroof to crack. £2000 is sadly quite cheap I have heard of quotes from £2500. There is no fix other than replacement. I am guessing you are out of warranty. Sorry I cannot offer a cheaper solution. Phil🙂
