  • Unboxing of the Sharp Bros Heatseeker Chassis for the Ruger American Short Action rifle
    The good: very nice light weight chassis looks and feels great in your hands
    The bad: below the chassis were a lot of aluminum shavings on the foam padding that the chassis was siting on that scratched the finish in multiple areas. they were not deep scratches just enough to rub off parts of the finish.

    Did you reach out to us (Sharps Bros)? Happy to replace the chassis body.

      I did not reach out to you guys, all my parts showed up so I was too excited to get out and shoot, so I went ahead and put it all together. Everything works as it should except for the scratches.

    This video is now 4 months old. Have you installed it? What caliber of rifle? And do you enjoy it so far? I was considering this as an option for a lightweight hunting rifle. I own the American Predator 308. And I’m seriously considering this as an option.

      Yes I installed everything, mine is chambered in 6.5, it did not come out as light as I wanted due to my scope and rings adding some pounds to the entire setup mine came out just under 10 pounds. What I can say is once I was sighted in I was hitting 8inch steel plates at 300 yards with ease, I have not yet stretched it further out than that.

    Send it back. No need to pay for a new product with scratches on it out of box.

    So was the hand guard lose or solid? that's my concern because its held on poorly. I like this one but was deciding between this and the MDT LSS.

    • @killakacti
      @killakacti  Před rokem

      The hand guard is solid and it's a decent chassis but for the money it costs I would have rather bought an MDT option. I have actually been looking hard at the MDT options I think I will be replacing this chassis with an MDT.

    Approx what size is the O.D. of the hand guard? Please?

  • @lngbow7
    @lngbow7 Před 2 lety

    Yeah and my hand guard was way too loose to work!

  • @lngbow7
    @lngbow7 Před 2 lety

    Yep! Got a heatseeker for a Howa mini just like John's. The fore end is so loose it's unusable. Emailed sharps bros they said it was supposed to be like that. Terrible!

    im guessing by the scratches it wasnt cerakoted from factory?

    • @killakacti
      @killakacti  Před 2 lety

      It was coated with a factory finish but the shavings on the foam packing was able to scratch the finish

    I would have been pissed if my order came in with those aluminum shavings inside and scratches on the product. Really unprofessional.🤨

    • @killakacti

      Extremely unprofessional, I really don't like the chassis. I'm looking at the MDT chassis now and thinking about switching.

      @@turkishsanta You don’t need a buffer but you do need a buffer tube depending on which stock you plan on using.
