pass this inspirational performance on, we need this now more than ever!!
This is from a PBS special called My Generation, The Sixties Live originally aired in 2009Welcome! These musical clips are from a large video collection that is now being converted from VHS/Beta to digital. There is some viewing quality loss from the original video source due to the age of the tapes, but the performances are preserved and still a joy to view. I'm finding many lost performances from vintage R&B, Soul, Pop, Broadway, Cabaret and other performances. This channel will be the Ed Sullivan channel for the digital generation, something for everyone to enjoy. Many of the performances will be seen for the first time since they were originally televised. I will be adding many musical performances from a variety of sources that I hope you will enjoy. Please hit the like button if you can.
Never have I been so privileged to grow up with the 5th Dimension! How blessed so many of us have been!
Billy Davis Jr. is one of the luckiest men on the planet! She's not a Star, She's a Galaxy! Thank you for sharing your wonderful gift with all of us for so long!
You got that right
And you know THAT. What a WOMAN WOOF! 😆
I was in love with Marilyn McCoo and Tammi Terrel and and a few others when I was 12 and they were 22 or so. So classy. I feel so sorry for the youngins and the degrading and ignorant music that they have to listen to. I remember when I was 12 that I wanted to fight Billy Davis and Marvin Gaye because I wanted their Babes.
@@jf9910 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Bull. She's a UNIVERSE !
The most underrated voice in pop-music. 60 years of singing the stuffing out of The American Songbook and Ms. McCoo defies all odds and not only hasn’t lost the dazzling notes of youth but she keeps adding them and getting better and better. Simply superb.
I've said that many times over the years. Marilyn has one of the finest voices in the busness. I rate her up there with Streisand and others of that caliber.
@@hossridr1Yes, Marilyn McCoo has a huge vocal range, has been in entertainment since the 1960s, has hosted many television shows, and hosted and co-hosted a television series, "Solid Gold", from 1981 through 1988 where she sang many musical genres including outside her typical genres, and in 2004 co-authored her autobiography with her husband of currently 54 years, Billy Davis Jr. and former bandmate with The Fifth Dimension from the mid-1960s through the mid-1970s.
In this performance, she was 65 or 66 years old and still had the expansive range of a much younger singer.
On this current day, she turns 80 years old. Happy Birthday, Marilyn McCoo.
WHO said she is underrated????????
One of the best voices in the business and still sounds amazing.
@@57colliegirl Marilyn McCoo is not underrated. She has been a part of the American and world cultural music landscape since the 1960s. She has hosted and co-hosted many television series over the years, most prominently that being "Solid Gold", from 1981 through 1984 and from 1986 through its end of series in 1988. With her husband since 1969, she co-authored their autobiography in 2004. That included a free compact disc of their music that was a bonus to the book. They both have had music albums together, but have been best known for live performances on television and concerts that have shown versatility in music genres, although their best known musical genre is the champagne soul sound that they established as part of the founding members of the original Fifth Dimension in the 1960s through the middle part of the 1970s. As of 2023, they still tour and are active on social media and are on more media platforms than ever.
@@jasonburger3533 I Agree. I didn't say she was underrated. I replied to an above commenter who claimed she was underrated. " Liberty Above All Else," started that thread.
Marilyn McCoo is nowhere near as famous as she should be, still she is a very happy and contented woman.
nowhere near as famous as she should be.................. DAMN..... YOU SAID IT
Damn, this woman still has it and can still ROCK it. WHAT’S NOT TO LOVE!!
YOU GO GIRL!!!!!
Maybe she could try a progressive experience and send them away for a week. Then, she could reflect on "What's worse, them or the housework." I, for one, am curious to know.
Not bad at age 76. As of 2024 she's 81. Her range and control is still phenomenal
Not quite. This is from a 2009 show, and she was born in 1943, so she's 66. But still, it is a positively overhelmingly great performance for anyone. And to be able to do it at 66 is stupendous.
WOW! Marilyn never cheats the audience. All these years later sounding and looking as good ever. Still singing with incredible passion!
Well said.
@@kevinstewart8876Yes, and she just turned 80 years old.
WOW.
I've always been - and forever will be - thoroughly and completely smitten by Marilyn McCoo.
She's still absolutely majestic after all these years...
ditto--i'm with you all the way on that -she is stunning ! i'm in love !
Amen!

Me too. Join the tragics' club, mate
Me too. Still get chills, watching her.
what a beautiful lady she still has that soulfull voice
and soooo profoundly deep... and touching...
Her voice is awesome and she never got the recognition she deserved over some like Aretha and Diana Ross, Dionne Warwick. Love her voice!
One less bell to answer Marilyn McCoo this was a request from Abraham
Marilyn and Billy are a national treasure
Thats the truth
Ah yes cousin Billy.. ♠W.G.
This is from 2009. Four decades after the original recording and Marilyn's still got it!
Yup. She’s amazing all the way around.
U said that Right.. ♠W.G.
This is from 2019 I believe?
@@MrGoldenthroat 2009 .... 40 años despúes y continúa hermosa y cantando maravilloso.....
@@MrGoldenthroatNo, it says in the info page that it is from a PBS television special, part of the My Music series, and is from 2009, so Marilyn McCoo was 65 or 66 in this performance and just turned 80 years old. She and Billy are on social media and still tour. He is 85 years old. They released a full new album in 2021 and it did well. They have a 2004 autobiography book still sold online and elsewhere as well.
Still beautiful and sings as good as 50 years ago
This lady is the epitome of class elegance and so much beat and talent.
and a damned fine looking lady......
She still has it. Marilyn really needs to record a James Bond song.
After all this time it is all still there. Style ,grace, dedication to the song and most of all that unmistakable voice...
That lady still has flawless talent!
I’m now 57 and ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS WOMAN 💖Beautiful soul as well as voice and so fine as a woman ! This timeless masterpiece is my youth and it was a wonderful time in 1970 to have been 7 years old growing up in the beautiful Bay Area 🌈
You're the same age as I am. I remembers listening to her AND the Fifth Dimension.Amazing talented lady and group.
@@amyreynolds3619She did well as host and weekly performer on the 1980s "Solid Gold" music and variety television series as well.
Grown Men dont cry. That is not a tear drop rolling down my left cheek, it is simply an adverse reaction to the maturization of an all-time Classic performed by this elegant Woman. She sings with such passion, one would think she's been hurting all these years. Yet, Bill is STILL standing right on stage harmonizing. Dude hit the Love Lottery big time imo!
I can truly say that hearing this version fifty years after the original one she not only still has it but she raised the bar on her own performance if that's even possible in turn this into not just a song but an event! And it didn't go unnoticed Billy Davis humbly singing Harmony in the background always there supporting her and the way she poured her soul into this was also just amazing after all those years singing this song and she sang it like it was the very last time and the very first time. Marilyn and Billy are just so amazing we are blessed to have them and they are a National Treasure!
Thank you. Beautifully said. As a confirmed musical traditionalist, I usually stick to original recordings. But MAN! I love this newer version as well!
@@cjpreach I so love this version. So glad to see Marilyn again after so many years. So heart warming to see Billy Davis a tower of support and strength. True love withstand the tests of time.
Beautifully said. They are quite the team!
@@khernandez46One of the most successful musical teams in music history and personally as well.
The most beautiful voice ever
Holy Shit. What a performance! Marilyn, you are.. beyond words. You always were. What a super arrangement and killer band and orchestral execution. She gave it her whole heart!!!!
She's still got it...and a little more. That voice and aged like fine wine. Even better today than when she did it in 1970.
Miss Marilyn: Billy is on the stage with you -- he would never, ever leave you in a million years.
She deserved that standing ovation! My goodness! She sounds amazing!
One of the best put-together women I have laid my eyes on. She has kept her beautiful body and face and incredible voice intact during her progression in life. Love you Marilyn
This is REAL SINGING!!!!!!!!!!
She did it way better than when she recorded it,
Billy is so blessed to have her.
They’re both so talented.
The best married musical duo ever!
Easily!!!!
She is pushing 80 and looks and sounds amazing!
This was from 2009, so she was about 66 at the time. Still, an incredible performance.
Age always takes away some of a vocalist's quality, so when you see a senior citizen still holding their own, be sure to give them a respectful nod for their sustainability.
One of the most beautiful and talented women of the 60s/ 70s!! Billy Davis is one lucky man! This song and Last Night I Didn’t Get To Sleep At All, are beautiful songs!
Song is 50 years old and sounds like yesterday, Marilyn McCoo , timeless and gorgeous
Love this live performance of my most endearing and favorite torch song! And my main-committed-husband (another giant in his own right) is right there with her and her "backup singer" in all the essential ways! She has some beautiful hummingbird soulful riffs. Their matching green is perfect and very cool. Billy is always in the tradition of the African American dapper, cultured, and refined gentleman. He is sharp and rocking that matching green ensemble!
I have seen the historical "Soul Train" live performance of "One Less Bell to Answer" (on CZcams) as well. It is just awesome!
Glad I grew up in this era to know what music “was” before all of today’s fabrication.
Beautiful job..... Song is 50 years old !!!
Damn I was 14 when It came out time flies
and her high notes... are STILL beautiful!
One less egg to fry, one less man to pick up after. Love the lyrics, what a great song.
I remember this song from the 60's,. I was just a kid at the pool, but it left an impression that lasted 50 years., Go Marilyn
Such a beautiful song, beautifully sung by such a great singer !
Could have been an opera singer. That voice is pure perfection. She should do a Great American Songbook album.
One of my childhood crushes still going strong
She so pretty! And this song, range and emotion makes me cry everytime! Its beautiful!
She is so Beautiful!!! Ans She has a Voice of Champions!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Still gorgeous after all these years. She and Billy are aging gracefully, still in the spotlight. Thanks for posting.
Thank you, Angie Dickinson, for the inspiration for this song.
She SANG THAT SONG!!!!!! YOU GO Auntie Marilyn!!!!!
Pretty amazing, same key as she recorded it, too! What a clean, beautiful voice.
Absolutely incredible
WOW! She still has it! This was 3yrs ago, that means she was 76yrs old; WOW! As a teenager at the time, the 5th Dimensions where a great group, seen on TV events at times.
What a beautiful woman and singer.
Anyone who was blessed to see her and the group back in the 60’s also remembers how great things were.
Still being able to see and hear Marilyn is lucky
Remember when she had her own show?!? I already loved her music kuz I'd been skating to it for years already! I will always love you Marilyn!! Thanks for the precious memories!! You're a part of me forever!
Velvet voice and still gorgeous! Holy Mackerel!🎵🎹🎺♥️♥️
Wow Wow Wow! Loved it. I always loved and admired Marilyn's talent and beauty!
On of this most dynamic singers,.....Outstanding!!
I want to THANK SOMEONE for bringing her talent, class, voice , style, and persona onto this earth.... Her beautiful voice is unlike no other,, earthy , range and expression that is not equalled by anyone... what an ANGEL..
She still sounds great! Wow!
WOW!!!...I am speechless!!!...She's still hitting into the whistle register!!!...
Fabulous, Fabulous, Fabulous rendering of this Laura Nyro smash hit by the one and only, Marilyn McCoo!!!!
Marilyn McCoo is one of my favorite female singers of all time.
If this performance was from 2009, she was 66. Her voice was still strong and she looked amazing.
"One Less Bell To Answer" is one of my favorite songs & performance's.. ♠W.G.
Still a sentimental and beautiful song , after 50 yrs.
Her expression at the very end says everything about what a true performer is. Still giving every bit of emotion and energy to a song that is now nearly 50 years old, and how she still looks and sounds as gorgeous as the very first day she performed it. The magic of Bacharach/David is eternal.
@Bentom86 - Indeed. That expression is of a singer that left it all on the stage and gave every single ounce of her soul and spirit.
A TRUE PROFESSIONAL
@@roboque88Yes, she could blow a lot of the younger singers off the stage.
ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!! YOUR VOICE IS TRULY AMAZING!!! When I saw the live version form 2019 I honestly wasn't expecting a performance like this!! The Emotion and Passion you sang with was unbelievable!!! I loved the song back in the day when I was a little kid.. but this tops it by far!!!! And to top it all off you are still as Beautiful as ever!!!! Well done Marilyn McCoo!!!
AMEN
Wow! Only 76 years young!
Jesus....this hits me in the feels so hard. Like the hardest possible slug to the chest. No one does it like Marilyn M. Period.
What a song, she sings from my heart since my husband just passed on New Yesrs eve.
How voice was phenomenal it probably still is she's 77 years old that was a great hit song
What a wonderful talent.. beautiful lady! Every time I see her it reminds me so much of my mother in the early 1970’s.. just beautiful
Marilyn, you did that!!! You still got it!
I don't want this woman to die! God please don't take her!
Beautiful song sung by a beautiful lady.
Time has shown that this woman is a treasure.
Very beautiful woman and beautiful voice
She is the greatest! What a voice! Still as beautiful as ever too!
One extraordinary Vocalist whose voice has maintained and age exceptional well!
Still look beautiful your voice is fantastic, Marilyn McCoo. 👍
Wow unbelievable vocal. She was the 5th Dimension. Would love to bring her to the UK
She has a beautiful Voice, this is REAL singing, this kind of Singing Gone 4ever
Hubby Billy Davis in the background looking like a man in deep love. He was a alcoholic. After they got married he recovered. I think he realized what he had . A beautiful woman in his corner .
At the very end she hugs herself as her performance gave her goosebumps. Great performance.
Wow! Even at almost 80, she still owns this song!!
My God she is still so beautiful, still has the voice of an angel and still has a body to tame any man.....sublime.
She's sounds so good. Props to her.
Standing ovation indeed ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
So underrated. One of the greatest singers ever
I love this! Standing Ovation worthy
Marilyn McCoo is singing even better than 50 years ago! She owns this song. Period!!!
One of my top five favorite songs of all time. Still brings tears to my eyes. Looking forward to meeting her someday in heaven!!
Such an outstanding voice and a beauty to boot. I love this song.
Marilyn still has it in every way! One of the best to ever pick up a microphone!
STILL SOUNDING BEAUTIFUL AND MARILYN IS ABSOLUTELY ONE OF MY FAVORITE FEMALE ARTISTS🥰🥰🥰😊
Her voice is as beautiful as ever. Sad how people grow old. When her time on earth is over Jesus will have another beautiful angel too sing his praise.
Yes she is a Queen in her field of music. And as gorgeous as yesterday...that's a long time ago.
She, as always sounds incredible. Just love her!
Just as fantastic voice as she had in the 1960s. And still very lovely. Billy Davis is one of her back-up singers here.
Wow. Every ounce as good as ever. Talent like this makes my eyes water.😁
Ms Marilyn added some bottom to that voice and gave me chills. You're not supposed to do that 50 years into it.
Loved this LADY since I 1st layed eyes on her at 8 years old (1970)...she is the ULTIMATE definition of a woman, didn't even mention her smooth, sultry voice...she is an absolute treasure..thank you Marilyn..for being you....'👍
Singing better than ever. Unbelievable!!
Marilyn McCoo has an amazing voice, stage presentation and personality. Her voice has perfect pitch and a really nice range. She is an inspiration for those who want to sing professionally. She was also my favorite host of Solid Gold in the 80's.
Simply..."BLOWWWNNN* AWAY!!!"
Damn SHE STILL GOT IT*...Plus Some! RE-Listen!~
That looked like a statement performance. If anyone doubted, they don't anymore. She don't still got it, she added some. SEVENTY-SEVEN?
This is the gal that should have been on the superstar pedestal, sadly all of us fell asleep at the wheel. Shame on us. Just think we’ve had her all these years and just let her drift away.
