You probably already know this, but i've always found it interesting, but the female voice you hear is actually Porter, with his voice ran thru an effect processor, and when he describes it, he says its like he's singing a duet, between his heart, (his lower chest voice) and his mind (the higher head voice) .
dude puts some next level thought in to his music and im 122% here for it.
The majority of Nurture’s lead-off singles hit me in a way that music hasn’t hit me in quite some time, if ever. These songs just feel so cathartic… It’s amazing and inspiring, what Porter has done with this album… and his growth as an artist as a whole.
The nylon guitar in this song is a soundfont from Zelda Ocarina Of Time, which is why it gives you that nostalgic feel.

Nice reference to RPGs! Porter has mentioned before he was influenced by those games, especially the final fantasy series.

The whole nurture album is just beyond phenomenal. I remember before the album coming out I kept checking iTunes everyday just to see if another song was gonna be released lol. These songs specifically just made me burst into tears after hearing them

I read somewhere that the story behind this is that it had been a long time since he'd released any music and he would lock himself in his studio trying to come up with ideas and inspiration which lead to him becoming more depressed, and only after he decided to leave the office and go outside was he able to find inspiration and that's basically what the video is demonstrating.
First time I heard this, the beeps and boops made me fall in love with it. When I knew about the lyrics, and how it deals with depression and how hoping for something more can only hurt you further, maaan. I was floored. Definitely one of the best songs of 2020/2021.
It has that feel of freedom, like I feel like free falling from the sky without a care in the world and the breeze from falling make it feel like I'm flying.

I'm 52 and am actually pretty new to Porter Robinson although ive always loved language (since buying Forza Horizon god knows how many years ago), not really into 'dance music' but something about Porters songs have just sparked something in me (maybe its my age haha), can honestly say though that something comforting is probably the most beautiful song ive ever heard, between worlds and nurture, there are absolutely loads of brilliant songs, the amazing thing about them is if youre wearing a decent set of headphones or earbuds, you actually hear something different everytime you play them, the guy is an absolute expert
My kids probably think im having a midlife crisis listening to him by the way, but hey ho, you only live once!!

My 3 favorite songs from him are shelter,musician, and something comforting. All emotional songs lol. I want to add I’m a big fan of him even though I’m not familiar with his entire discography. Those 3 songs really made an impact :)
