  • Here's a tutorial, unboxing, and review of Kunaki - a cool online service that lets you create and sell your own professional-looking custom CDs. If you want to support my music, feel free to check out my CD of Ego Death (plus two bonus tracks!) that showed in the video: bit.ly/EgoDeathCD I forgot to mention this in the video, but I have listened to the CD in my car and it sounds great! :)

    Thank you SO much for this tutorial , There's an artist whos music isn't on streaming platforms and they don't sell physical media aside from clothing, but they released their whole discography for free to the public, Going to make CD's so i can have a physical version of their music for myself, after buying merch of course !

    They seem to be the only one out there that can make something decent at ultra low volume or even have the option to aside from DIY. All the other sites seem to be at least 25-to-100 minimums.

    This is a very neat tutorial and is reassuring me to use it for my upcoming album! One question tho; When inserting the images onto the cite for the CD, is it just the images I am using, or do the pictures you choose for the sleeves, back covers, etc. look blurrier on the CD display compared to the OG version of the picture? Asking for quality's sake.

    • @DGtheArtist
      @DGtheArtist  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Hey thanks for watching! And yeah on the site the pictures definitely look blurrier than the original versions, but in person they don't have that issue - the actual prints look great imo! :)

    • @DGtheArtist
      @DGtheArtist  Před 4 měsíci +1

      I haven't tried it so I can't be 100% positive, but I think the names are only used for CD players that display the name of the song as it's playing, so it'd just show up as blank if you do that - I doubt you'd have any other issues. If you try it let me know how it turns out! (If you don't want to risk anything going wrong you could always just put the track number as a sort of filler name just to be safe)

    Thank you for the video, this is amazing. I expected it to cost way more. One question though. I live in the Netherlands. Do u maybe have a rough idea of how much more that would be with the shipping or if it's even possible? Again, thanks a lot and have a good one
    Update:
    Okay I spoke too soon. I jusy looked on their website and they have a whole ass option for it which is nice. It's still a little expensive, about 7,5 bucks, but less then I expected :D Hopefully whatever shipping company is used wont mess up my order. (happens a lot here unfortunately) Though I don't know about important costs. From experience I know those always come later which can rlly make an unforeseen dent in your bank account but over I'm satisfied so we shall see

    If I put my album for sale, does Kunaki take the 1,10$ + shipping automatically of the price the customer pays, or do they send me the full price and them I have to send the money to them by myself?
    Nice video!

    • @DGtheArtist
      @DGtheArtist  Před 5 měsíci +1

      First you get all the money that the customer pays via PayPal (i.e. the full CD price, plus shipping), then you have to manually fulfill the order from your Kunaki account by paying Kunaki $1.10 plus shipping. It seems like you can also fund your Kunaki account in advance to avoid manually paying for each order, but I prefer to do it one at a time.

  • @disconnectica

    I'm preparing a gapless album, ie some tracks flow from one to the next. Will this work without glitches between tracks? Also, given 4 is cheaper per disc than 5 or more, is there any reason not to just buy multiple sets of 4, presuming you want less than 40 or so?

    • @DGtheArtist
      @DGtheArtist  Před 4 měsíci +1

      My album also has some pretty tight transitions (between tracks 6 and 7 is the main one) and it came out really smooth! And yeah sets of 4 has been my preference, seems to be the cheapest way unless you're doing truly bulk orders.

    • @DGtheArtist
      @DGtheArtist  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Btw not sure what kind of transitions you're planning but mine are more of a beat dropping from one track to the next rather than a continued note that gets held between tracks, so for my case it's a little harder to tell if it's really *perfectly* smooth (as opposed to having a millisecond of silence or something), but it does sound exactly as I intended it :)

    • @disconnectica
      @disconnectica Před 4 měsíci

      @rtistOK thanks. I heard something about CDs operating on 1/75ths of a second, so I'm lining up my song transitions on multiples of 1/75th, but no idea if that will work. CDs have always handled seemless transitions much better than streaming services though so I expect it should be OK. I'll do one first to test anyway. I'm in Australia though, so most of the cost is shipping! Thanks for the reply.

    • @disconnectica
      @disconnectica Před 3 měsíci

      @@DGtheArtistI would like it perfectly smooth between at least some tracks. I tried to set it up tonight, but Kunaki state that they will add the "industry standard" 2 second silence between all tracks on an audio CD! WHYYY? I uploaded my tracks and tested with their virtual player, which has no slider or fast forward so just had to wait till end of track, and sure enough it just cuts for 2 seconds, then continues with next track. This sucks. They offer ability to upload an ISO and CUE file, but I found that ISO files don't exist for audio CDs, despite what they say, and seems they don't need CUE files anyway. Seems gapless audio CDs is impossible. I could try a data CD, which won't be supported on all players, and is less likely to work gaplessly anyway. Looks like one option might be to burn a CD myself and then use their tool to upload a copy.

    • @DGtheArtist
      @DGtheArtist  Před 3 měsíci

      Ahhh that sucks 😢 not sure why they're adding 2 seconds on yours, the way I did it there aren't long gaps like that. Worst case you could always combine your songs with gapless transitions into a single track?

  • @ramilopez6921
    @ramilopez6921 Před 3 měsíci

    How's the sound compared to what you uploaded? Does it sound as good as the files you sent? How do they compare to commercial CDs?

    • @DGtheArtist
      @DGtheArtist  Před 2 měsíci +1

      It sounds very good to me but I've only played it in my car which has pretty mediocre speakers :P
      I don't notice any drop in quality when comparing the same songs on aux and CD, but it's admittedly hard to be certain since they're not great speakers to begin with. It is comparable to how commercial CDs sound on those speakers though. And for what it's worth I haven't heard anyone complain about sound quality with Kunaki :)
