I find this to be utterly ridiculous. Celebrities go into hiding for much more secretive reasons all the time. They just don't put out a statement when they do it. Next time, Kate won't give us the courtesy, and I don't blame her.
I don’t completely understand what the “working” members of the RF do but I believe there is a certain amount of public duty required. Celebrities, like you mentioned, are not public individuals. This is more akin to a First Lady completely disappearing since Christmas, regardless of the reason. People just want to know if she’s okay.

Perhaps the English would, given the UK's constitutional monarchy where the royal family lacks direct governing authority. The poor woman had major surgery in Jan. People were told she need recuperation after abdominal surgery and would return to he duties after Easter. No one is entitled to know her private health issues. If there was an attempted breach of her info, shame on those involved. Find out who listened, corrected or transcribed the verbal recordings made by her MD. Look at the initials on the medical record. Like the USA, they are likely outsourced to Indian and Pakistani workers employed by large service providers.
Each consultant will have a medical secretary that transcribes notes. There will be a computer footprint that flags every time they are accessed online and makes a note of the login ID.

I can’t understand why that hospital didn’t have in place the security measures needed to prevent this happening. Only staff who were dealing directly with the Princess of Wales should have had access to her medical records and Palace security should have also checked out the hospital’s security.
