I have been tying this improved version of the Double Dragon for that past six months. I don't see a downside. It's balanced as explained in the video. The working end hangs outside of the loop. There is no pre-knot, which means you can wrap the rope around an object without planning beforehand. It's is rock solid secure. It can be tied in the bite or as an end loop. The bight tying method is super easy to remember and can be used to tie an end loop in case you forget the end loop tying method. On top of all those great features, it does not jam even though it tightens up rock solid, and I have tested the non-jamming by loading the loop with massive weight.
I have been using this version of the double dragon knot for some time know. It has replaced all of my pre-tied knots, such as used on my rapid deploy ridgeline. I also carry a number of short pieces of cord, 3-12 feet long, called bush zip ties (Blackie Thomas) which have a double dragon knot on one end and an arbor knot, with release tab, on the other end.
Also, I have rope envy. I really like the rope you are demoing with. Great color and looks really nice to work with. Good diameter and nice flexibility.
I would call Serena’s version a “double” angler’s loop rather than a different version of the double dragon loop. The dragon doesn’t have a cross in the collar, while the angler’s loop does. Evidently, the double dragon is superior to the angler’s loop if you need to untie the knot because it doesn’t jam up on you. Having it jam up can be a good thing though if it’s your fishing line and you want to make extra sure it doesn’t come undone.
When I figured out this knot I thought I had something "new" but I wasn't sure. My video shows the same way of tying that you do. I also show how to tie it around something. I think it is not related with the Angler's perfection loop , but with the so called "flash bowline", with an extra turn,.You may also come across to it under the name of "double tugboat B" in the knotting community.Both good knots in general and tiable in the bight.Tugboat style loopknots, are in general, inline profliles loaded as end of line knot structures.One other way of decoding it, is to picture it as a different loading profile of a double cowboy TIB bowline if you think of the eye legs as the two ends and the SPart/tail connected to form the eye of the bowline,

@@kostgreg62 Just to clarify, I found the knot in the video to be non-jamming. I have tested it on heavy loads.
