- I'm going to attempt a thru-hike of the Colorado Trail this summer. In this video, I talk about the ultra-light thru-hiking gear I'll be taking with me.

Tell Sam to look into getting his Space Pilot's license. When I buy my new Firefly, I want him to fly it. You'll have your own cabin, of course, 'cause we will go hiking on all of the colony worlds.😉

Like you, I hiked in trail runners for a bit, but like you, I tripped often.
My analytical mind told me it was due to the thickly padded sole and the elevated heel.
I considered sandals but wanted toe protection.
I tried a zillion brands and models of shoes until I came across the Merrell Trail Glove.
For me they were the ticket snd I’ve never looked back.

I love your setup...I have since I tripped onto your channel--just very different than everything else I see, for the most part. I do watch a channel called Simon a Bloke in the Woods...different than your channel, but he has interesting setups, too, just way heavier than yours! You have things so dialed in for you, don't try to convince anyone, just matter of fact--thanks for sharing, as always, appreciate your take on things! Oh, I hiked in flip flops last summer, 8 miles, I think sandals would be better, but its what I had...you are right, in the right place, better than my tail runners. Take care.

Evan! It's been too long. I always enjoy your videos. I am looking forward to your Colorado trail hike with Liz and Luke. Your AT thruhike vlogs helped me through a tough time in life and brought me back to hiking again so, thank you for that and thanks for sharing your set up too. Enjoyed watching you on the AT as a woman approaching 40. It's nice to see someone do these things who isnt 20. It's really refreshing and inspiring (although of course i love Liz's channel too) to see someone more my age doing this sort of thing.
I'm attempting my first thru hikes this year. The mozzies are my biggest fear, which is really odd, but if something would make me quit it's the irritating buzzing and relentlessness of millions of mozzies or black flies.

I hope you get to do it! Back in 2018, I was either going to hike the Colorado Trail or the AT -- and I chose the AT. Now it's finally time for the CT.
@@EvansBackpackingVideos I’m glad you chose the AT in 18’, but really happy your are getting to do the CT now! I’m hoping to do an End to End of the Long Trail and then hop over and do the last 180 of the AT to Katahdin this Summer.

Nice rundown. I’ll be watching for your CT videos when you post them. Liz’s too. Congratulations on becoming a grandparent; the same happened for my wife and I in March when my daughter and husband had a baby girl named Ella. It’s a great feeling and adds a new facet to your life. Congratulations to Sam as well. I guessed he had moved on to jets and the commercial world of aviation. Hey Evan, I'm a new subscriber to your channel but I have watched quite a few of your video's. I ran into an AT south bounder on Wildcat the other day that said he got a lot of inspiration from your content. Although his sandals were in his pack and he was hiking barefoot. Good luck on the CT and congratulations on the new grandson! When you see Luke let him know I'm still using the photo he took of me on Bondcliff.

Yes I'm going to get my commercial license/certificate but I don't plan to fly for the airlines. It's mostly for skill improvement rather than for money-making.

No, I'm not playing the bass. I put together the sounds but I didn't play the instruments. (Pretty easy to do nowadays!)

Stoveless and I'll eat like I did on the Appalachian Trail. Food that doesn't require cooking. I don't cold soak.
Hi Evan just a quick one - do you think two people ( 5’10” ) can sleep under your under the tarp?
I think the answer to that is yes but you'd have to be a little more creative in setting up for storms. Do some research about Ray Jardine or look into his books about tarp camping -- he did a number of long trails with his wife Jenny and they slept under the same tarp, which wasn't any larger than mine.
