There's something about Lauren that made Laguna and The Hills so addicting to watch. She was the real star, can't deny that.
I know right? Back then I was so crazy about the hills. Especially Lauren, Brody and Whitney. Also Heidi and lo. Audrina I didn’t really like her she was always acting weird 😂
She will forever be the girl who didn’t go to Paris 👌🏻
She was just so much more relatable than anyone else. I mean her growing up so rich wasn’t really relatable at all but there’s just something about her!

But yes, I was pissed! Lol but it was actually pretty smart on their end. We been calling them dumb and fake all that time. Acting like we’ve cleverly figured it out. And yet, we watched to the final minutes.. and was shocked to find it was faked. They went out in a very honest way. Confirming the speculations were legit. But of course they weren’t gonna tell us that during filming. It was their job, money, ratings.

No matter how fake it was this song and the show will always mean so much to me. I used to love watching it. The same year the show started I moved to the U.S to do a college internship I was 19 and I was alone in the city living “my dream” I was living on my own having my own money, had the best job and had an awesome group of friends. I really thought I was “living the life.”😁😁

Sure, people can get attached to fictional shows. That's how it was for me with Seasons 1-4 of Game of Thrones.
I remember getting chills and screaming at the TV as soon as the backdrop moved..... MTV was telling us we had all grown up and it was all staged.

I'm not sure about the interview for Teen Vogue. I mean, what are her credentials besides coming from a rich family? She no doubt made the best of all the opportunities that were given to her from this show, but I'm not sure she would have gotten that interview without her fame and family connections.
@Se Se obviously certain things are manipulated but many cast members from Laguna Beach said Laguna Beach was much more real while The Hills was a lot more manipulated and fake. One of the reasons production chose to focus on Stephen, Lauren and Kristin was because they said when talking to the kids from the high school there names kept getting brought up.

I actually love the brutal honesty of the ending because anyone in the "LA scene" knows that the whole town is full of smoke and mirrors, a big shiny facade that's not too hard to pierce, and the once the flashy backdrop is removed you see how truly shallow and fake it all really is.
And when LC left, I walked out too 🥺

People always hated Kristin but she was more relatable after I grew up. She had no shame in her game, and I love her for it.

I really liked Kristen too the only thing I didn't like about her was that she was a huge pick-me when it came to Brody. It was so annoying!

She’s a real fashionista. Wasn’t the idea of gossip girl taken because of actual people who were posting online. They were posting about her and Tinsey Mortimer who actually appeared on gossip girl.

LOL! I love how they completely exposed how fake reality TV was. That reveal of the background behind Brody and the him an Kristin leaving set together was fun to see.
I wish they had played the other joke alternative ending with Lauren moving in with Stephen.

Laguna Beach was the better show but I absolutely loved the Hills. I’m 33 now and the cast were the same age as me... it was so wonderful to spend my high school and 20’s with them!

After Lauren left this show was NOTHING. The producers tried keeping the show popping with Kristan but it wasn’t the same.

I think MTV ruined her image. They demonized women at that time for being so confident, free spirited, and not so hung up on boys.

michelle mayhem its not all fake! Parts of it are and there are definite real relationships and issues as well! For instance, Heidi and Spencer are really married! That would’ve been difficult to fake but sometimes the cameras would miss some of the things happening and they’d have to be recorded a second time later on. Also, they did occasionally insert fake storylines such as the Justin Bobby/Audrina relationship. Both parties say today that they were never more than friends!

the most epic final from a reality show.
Even if it was fake, the first and second seasons have a feeling of sincerity to them... and when you compare the first and last 5 minutes side by side you can really see how terrible the “acting” was. lol
95% of Lauren's seasons were real.
Kristin's seasons were completely fake.
Yeah I think he got increasingly fake as it went along but it was always fake. I think the first season of Laguna Beach had a little more of a documentaru feel.... There would be a party in the camera would kind of loosely peek around and serve events.
As the show got popular and evolved, the production value went way up, and agree to which there was any organic conversation was eliminated entirely.

Audrey wasn't actually her friend, they brought her in for an audition. When they filmed in downtown settings most of the time they were using the stage just like this

@@hofhofandaway - Lauren mentioned in an interview that she was broke after Laguna Beach ended, and she agreed to do The Hills when the producers approached her about it because it would bring her steady income and a chance to do the internship at Teen Vogue. Her dad is an architect, and they’ve shown her parent’s house many times - especially in the Laguna Beach. It’s a beautiful mansion. I highly doubt she was “broke” in the way that the average joe would be.

When this premiered, did not expect flasbacks of Laguna Beach. I legit teared up because my Junior and Senior year of high school was in 2005 so I was the same age. Watched both seasons religiously of course lol. When The Hills ended I was well into my 20s so it was like a final nod to those oh so chaotic formative teenage years.
Audrina and Lauren shake hands and say nice to meet you like never have met before 😂
