This is great news! Been sitting in my library for some time and I thought it was dead for good. Love this game. Between this and Stationeers, these are two gems not a lot of people know about with amazing detailed configuration options.....
I didn't expect this at all. Bravo to the devs for not completely abandoning it.
is great to hear this project hasn't die
The biggest problem was travel times. I stopped playing once I learned the "max" speed was like 150 mps. untill they introduce a quasi-supercruise it wont hit as hard as it could.
@@TheLord-ce5wf what is that 2:30 warpdrive? is it already ingame or upcomming feature? i also heard that there as warpgates that players can build for themselves
@@Morfik45 the warp gates and warpdrive are not in the game yet
Wanted this game to succeed so badly because it was a space game that actually had the necessary foundation for an active universe verses space games focused so much on flying/dogfighting. Hated what happened to it but it did seem inevitable at the time, glad to see that they're attempting to get back at it and I love the features they're bringing! Will be interesting to see how things play out.
Definitely has some Space Engineers vibes, as well as Empyrion (one of the most overlooked space games, I think). Both of which I very much like!
I love ship design, so I'm cautiously optimistic. I think it would have been more successful if it was playable offline, with optional multiplayer.
They kept the servers up rain or shine, and the map size is impossibly immense, this game doesn't need singleplayer, nor was it designed for that.
@@Bieblism I know it wasn't designed for single player. I was just saying that I would have liked to have single player.
@@Trifler500 A mix of both like what no man's sky achieves would be pretty awesome
@@Bieblism Exactly what I was trying to describe :)
I'm highly anticipating the upcoming changes (coming to the testing universe first). I've returned to the game to place some miners and taxis around our stations for ease of travel in preparation for the upcoming update and I've been having a blast coming back to the game.
I have 330hrs in and for me at least, very addictive stuff. Like Space Engineers but without the clang.
Whatcha mean "without the clang"? I've only played ~20 hours of SE, so maybe it's a meme I didn't get.
@stephennetu You haven't sacrificed to clang yet? You're in for a real treat then. Of course a few years ago clang was the almighty. He has since then been calmed by all our sacrifices.
Jokes aside, it's just game physics going bonkers.
@@stephennetu play around with pistons, rotors, subgrids, etc. and you'll eventually figure out what people are talking about with "clang"
If they just drop the price by 10-15 dollars, I think they won't have any problem getting more players into the game again after these updates roll out.
11.89 now
The tools that developers are providing with the update will make it easier for the small community around Starbase to find each other and interact more.
I'm quite happy about starbase coming back.
I love this title, I played it solo as I normally do with my MMO's with some collaboration, but I loved the overall atmo of the game, felt very much like eve in the early days. The random encounters and pvp aspects. I did rely on ships on the market to kickstart things but eventually got into designing my own small ships and bases. The ability to fully automate the mining lasers to make mining more efficient is a nice challenge and the YOLOL coding looks really nice, didn't get a chance to do too much with it yet.
Look forward to seeing some updates, already started downloading it again.
Before you comment anything cheeky about its EA in the past, let it be known:
1. This game still delivered a functioning Space Engineers game both with MMO functionality AND without the clang, which is insanely impressive and should not be understated.
2. They could have very easily pulled a worlds adrift and pulled the plug. They did not, and the news of them returning (like they said they would be) only serves to prove their commitment.
3. The Store is a reasonable decision considering the insane costs of keeping those servers up, and crowdfunding being not allowed in their country. Cosmetics, not gameplay features or blocks/materials. Come on now, they're fine to do that.
very true, I ve never seen a developer deliver so much, and been so poorly understood by gamers
yea sure... without the clang
@@exowarlock9031 Every game has some amount of it. However, with SE I came across a bad case of it in the first hour of building stuff. I have yet to see any in Starbase in the 50+ hours i've played.
I'm happy for them. I do hope they get the traction they need to keep going.
I'm a huge fan of Space Engineers, and hope this can compete.
Hell fucking YEEAHHH 🦅🦅🦅🦅, I was so afraid that this was going to be abandoned.
I would have never guessed it would come back... I'll probably reinstall.
I would be interested to check this game out! Though it looks quite rough and needs some work.
I've had this game in my Steam wishlist for years, I'm never sure enough to pull the trigger.
I'm a huge PvP-Fan, and I am 100% sure that it is the crowning achievement of gaming,
yet even I would say that PvE-Content is kind of needed in Starbase.
As a Space Engineers fan, it would be nice if this turns into something, but having seen what happened with Dual Universe, I’m not holding my breath.
I am SHOCKED and STUNNED
I got 800 hrs in this one i would love to go back for some new stuff.
the fact that you still have to use the promo footage of a build that never existed in ea just tells it all
he doesn t have to, and he also does that to many other games. and the game exists and its working
this anouncement came a few days before the KSP 2 issues. for a few days all my favorite games were doing good...
Ooh, gonna buy this now.
I WAS super interested in this game in the year befire launch cause of its CADD like ship designer.
Then it launched..
Forgot it existed
Finally the good news appeared!
I've lost count of all of these ambitious games that die and then try to come me back. It's like every year we are talking about the latest one. Everyone promising basically the same thing.
except this one actually delivered on on the revolutionary tech, and it's working solidly
These guys delivered on the hardest part of their promises already, all they have to do is build on the existing (rock solid) foundation they have already toiled to create
@@Bieblism foundation is the easy part. Games build foundations all the time but the foundation either doesn't hold or gets abandoned. Foundation is also another name for bare minimum required. Expectations are higher and marking all the lofty features work well is widly expensive and difficult.
@@cmdrls212 Games do not create massive single-shard sandbox MMOs with a full suite of voxel physics/destruction mechanics all the time. The sheer complexity of what they developed is being severely understated.
@@cmdrls212 sorry but nearly 10000 players in the same universe, fully destructible universe, town on the moon where you can enter each building, ingame programming etc etc, no, it's not easy at all
Have they added proper game pad support yet? I got it on steam deck and ended up refunding it a while back because the controls were basically impossible I couldn’t pick something basic up without floating away and I just lost the will to try work it all out, not a simple game to rebind everything when your not sure what’s what to start with you change a control then find you encounter another problem because of it while frustratingly floating away from the tutorial lol
Would be cool if the insurance system is like real world insurance. Up to 50k credits based on ship size per month per ship. The more you reclain the ship the more the premium increases by a factor of 50% each time on the new balance 😂
To make it less harsh every month after the payment reset the balance to the original
Enjoyed this game, but can it return from the dead..... I not confident. But I will hold a little hope since this game was quite unique.
The first time I tried to play the tutorial it got bugged and I’ve been locked in ever since, hopefully I can finally try the game 😂
Ignore the in-game tutorial and find some videos on YT how to play.
forgot this game existed
I bet it the news from game industry about their shady practice and rework their target to space game. Star citizen is still alive with players. I bet it from this game is still in dev state and slowly become stable. I hope. I bet the Starbase CEO and other dev wanted to work on but does take time. There are good and bad people but still working on space game. As long those people funding would help improve it code for server and game engine.
Oh damn I misread the title as ‘Starfield’ at first and prepared myself to roast you lmao
😂. I misread too.
🤣
Great video obsidianant but I'm not a fan of the blurred borders at the top and bottom of the video
Is it worth buying now or should people wait until it cooks for a while longer? I was interested when it dropped but heard what a mess it was and moved on to other games.
they re revolutionary tech and core gameplay has been working from the start, obviously it depends on what you want, some want space engineers others other things
I wonder if OA has missed out on news about Sins or Solar Empire 2 steam announcement, and Summer launch (August launch by the looks of it) announcement 🤔
Butter
Dude, the first time I played this like a year ago, I lost my ship among tons of player ships that looked exactly alike and since then I am stranded lol - how do I get a new ship?? o0
tons of equal ships is something that it doesn t exist in starbase
@@jh5klhe means the laborers:D
@@jh5kl Yeah, the vernacular is lost on me lol - the starter ship - the one used in the tutorial. I went out to mine, logged out while mining, came back a day later and the ships nearby of identical design, wouldn't allow me to interact with their controls. I've been a mountaineer of the cosmos ever since.
@@againsteternity110 oh I see 🙂
@@againsteternity110 On the landing pad you can spawn your ship, if you still need it
would of bought this game if the playernumbers get more number but 80 is not enough.
Sick segue
It's not that shocking because they've added a beefy MTX store to the game as well 😂 can we maybe try holding the developers that take people's money on a promise and then abandon the game to a higher standard? There's millions of potential new sales for these guys to make from the base game IF THEY MAKE IT GOOD, adding a MTX store into a unfinished EA game just starts the cancer of unrewarding gameplay loops before it even gets released, it's pathetic.
Yep. Still remember that their official reason for halting development is that "It wasn't making enough money."
IT'S IN EARLY ACCESS. Making money isn't the goal yet!
@@DarkonFullPowerthen devs wont get paid, I heard the money was also coming from their government but was cut, then they worked on trine 4
@@DarkonFullPower it's like a painter stopping half way through because not enough people bought prints of their unfinished painting 😂
1000% what you said. The work ethic/morals in the gaming industry are on an all time low. We need people that have a backbone.
they didn t added the shop, they re planning
The concept sounds cool, but the game itself just looks so generic, bleak and boring. Everything is blocky and mostly grey metal, characters are just generic robots, UI looks like it's a placeholder made by a programmer (maybe it is?) etc. I just can't get excited about this.
Atm it's not for casual players
Yea right 🤣🤣🤣
We had Hello Fresh for dinner
I forgot Starbase existed
If this is all true.. why is the playerbase still around 80-300 on an average day.... and already declining again?? A MMO especially a completly player driven one can not work like that.
If there would be that much new stuff worth installing it the playerbase would be significantly higher and.. why showing all the old footage not the new stuff?
Let's face it the Miners and ship designers will not return to a game in wich their hard work, hundrets of hours of hard work, can be destroyed by dum PvP within seconds.
Only stupid ppl do PvE content, completley destroyable content, in an open world PvP environment more than two times and continue to waste their lifetime.
That is the major reason why it will fail again... i wonder what they do in the brainstorming meetings... not beeing able to figure that out..
Each robot/ship is a real human beeing on the other side of your screen... spending their hard earned spare time to get some joy out of a game.
If you fuck up content creators and resource haulers that much with pointless PvP... they just leave... ppl are NOT stupid... and they have a life...
1st Suggestion... make PvP only availabel in specified zones... and maybe juuuust maybe players will return on a larger scale.. or
2nd suggestion make it more easy/cheap to get the ships that get blown up in seconds... but hey for the 2nd suggestion...
there are already games out there that are covering this and that's not suitable for an >>MMO>if they don't want to
Past comments and actions from FrozenByte and Lauri have me in a wait and see mode. FB/Lauri have made lofty promises before with nothing to show for them, thus until things come to PTU, get tested and make it to Early Access in a playable state I am not holding my breath.
A shaky foundation held up by what? Pay to play? Pay to win? Nah, Space Engineers is getting another update this month and Space Engineers 2 is on the horizon. Personally I’m well sorted in the Space Sandbox builder genre.
all I saw was pay for cosmetic armor, so you wont get much of a advantage (depending on how much the color and shape will play into gameplay)
@@bluestonecreepr Fair enough, but remember only one game has pulled a No Man’s Sky in recent history and come back from the near dead.
the foundation is contrary to shaky, they do have their core tech working from the start. other companies are making millions on a promise, this game IS already doing it
@@jh5kl I have no reason to think there is anything wrong with the tech, I haven’t looked into it. My inference was more the organisation / money situation being in shaky ground.
I removed that game from my wish list couple months ago. I'll wait to see what's going on before add it again... And god, I hate ads in video like that SO MUCH!!! I F*cking pay CZcams Premium and I never, NEVER gonna use a food delivery sh*t like them. How people can trust random people to buy and delivery their FOOD, omg!
You trust random people to make it.
@@Wileylikethehawk I prefer automatic factory... And even if some stuff are made by someone, no need to add a other person to the process.
nah, tht ship has sailed... not interested i nthis one anymore!
Im way more interested in Empyrion Galactic Survival or Avorion!
Personally, the fact that there is no seamless planet transitiony killed empyrion for me right away
@@Numinon could be worst... could be Starfield lol
space engineers is closer to starbase, like a tech demo but significantly less dead
game is a complete flop
people need to stop saying its back, ITS NOT!
There has been NO UPDATE yet and dev work started last year which was hardly a secret
It's back to "developing" status, so it's OK to say that.
ah yes, can always count on kenetor to misguide and defame the devs. yes it's back, it's back in development, their video clearly states that and it does not state that its already updated
@@jh5kl are you blind? The devs have shown a ton of stuff that has NEVER come to the game, hell we dont even have half of the stuff from the trailers. So dont tell me that anything has happened or is real till we get it. The devs have stung us before, im just saying be cautious and dont get your hopes up. Its not "back" till the patch drops, untill then its still the same massively broken game it always was.
