Excellent work.
I have a 51 bowman Mickey Mantle, plan to attempt the restoration also a 2.5 graded card. Omg so nervousâŠ..
Work on some other 51 Cards first. Just get comfortable with it so itâs a repeatable process, not something that makes you anxious. Soaking the card is easy, bringing it back and drying it properly is what you need to practice. đ€đŒ
Another fantastic restoration đđœđŻ
That's amazing
Oh wow! Continue to amaze brother. I have this card and planning to grade soon. Sending a Ted Wiliams as well. Cant do this myself LOL. Amazing job. Keep it up
Do you take in cards from customers as well to be worked on?
Solid video!
Did you do anything to the corners during this process? they turned out amazing!! Did you add polish after or not?
Since I had to get the card wet, that process helped me take care of the corners. I did polish the front of the card after it was totally dry.
@kurtscardcare OK good to know. I really like all your card care videos, just trying to absorb as much knowledge as possible. I really like the long videos where you cover multiple kinds of cards from vintage to modern loving those videos as I gain lots of knowledge at once!! Thanks Kurt!!
Is the foam what we use for water removal in the kit or do I buy it separately. The card looks incredible.
Yes Paul, thatâs exactly what I use. Iâll drop you a link if you want to get a roll.

The back looks whiter for sure
The reason why I bought more card spray last week. Can't wait to practice on my 55/56 cardsđ€
How kurt so I purchased your card spray! How would I get out a small crack line one inch to a 1973 card. Dab it with card spray? Its not a crease because it doesnt appear on front. Thanks Paul!
Hey Paul, thanks for the message. Iâm not 100% sure but I donât mind taking a look for you. If youâre on Instagram, you wanna send me a picture or email me a picture?
Hey Kurt. I just ruined a beautiful 1972 Topps Willie Mays. Great centering and corners but it had a little nick at the top. I used the eye dropper technique with your card spray but squirted too much out and it soaked the top corner. I tried patting it down but when it dried the card was stained and bumpy. Any suggestions? Also, what is the cutoff decade for being able to submerge vintage cards in cleaning spray without damaging the card?
Hey Dexter, there might be a chance to save the card still. If youâre on Instagram, please send me a picture. Pretty much 80s and up is when you donât wanna soak a card completely but you can still use spot treatments with Cards Spray. Hit me up Iâll take a look for you.
@@kurtscardcare Hey Kurt. I emailed you the pictures.
Noticed that at some point you went from double mats to single mats on both sides. At what point in the process do you do that? I donât se to be able to get mine to dry in 2 days so Iâm wondering if this is part of the issue on my end.
Once the card is fairly dry and more stable, you can switch to one card mat but that wonât make a huge difference in my opinion. Keep the cart out for 10 to 15 minutes at a time between putting it back between the mats. You can use the regular atmosphere to help dry it. I also have an air-conditioned office that is typically around 70°. The air is fairly dry and I think that probably helps too. Good question.
Great work as usual Kurt
Do you think it would work on a 1977 Topps fb card that has minor creases?
Yes, I think you have room for improvement. You might not need to soak the whole card. You might be able to just work on the crease. Get a couple base cards out and test. đ€đŒ
Must have sent off to PSA, as no update on new grade.
Nope, sorry about that. I did an update on Instagram. It went up to a 3. I didnât do it yet, but I might crack it for another reevaluation. I think it looks a little better.
@@kurtscardcare I was going to say, definitely better than a half point upgrade.
@@thomasdaubert1114 I agree, I thought Iâd get a 4. Iâll probably try again.
Can a significant crease on a 56 Robinson be removed using your technique?
Sometimes, you can always reduce it, but most times it doesnât go away 100%. The smaller the wrinkle, the easier it is to remove it.
How do you determine how long you do a full soak of a card like this? Great video!!
Thatâs a great question. I find that most of the magic happens in the first 20 minutes. I have entertained myself for years doing stuff like this, and Iâve always taken good notes. If a card is filthy, you might have to dump the fluid at 20 minutes and add another ounce and let it sit for another 20 minutes. But thatâs rare.
okay thanks for the advice!@@kurtscardcare
What if the card has an auto on it? Would the spray mess it up?
Thanks Kurt
It probably would, donât soak a vintage card with an auto. Thatâs a great question.
Idk...i'd guess SGC 3. Back centering...try PSA if it comes back SGC 3.
Once dry can I apply the card polish after? Thanks!
Absolutely, let the card dry between the mats for four days/till dry and then transfer it to your top loader for another several days. Make sure itâs 100% dry and then you can do the final touches. Great question.
What was the final grade when you got this back?
Itâs a 3 now
How wet can you get a â68 Topps?
As much as needed but I would always do a test run on a 68 base to get comfortable
So just jump right in on a Ryan Rookie, got it!@@kurtscardcare
I was able to make good progress on creases, but now I need to get the bend out of it. It seemed to dry faster on the back and curve towards the back. So I'll get the front a little wet and press and wait. These are fun projects. Thanks for posting and giving us all info to have courage to take a shot.

What about 70âs cards with ink? Thanks
Iâve been able to get a little bit of ink off the front or the back. If itâs heavy, it is permanent. But thereâs a couple different options you could do. If youâre on Instagram, you can shoot me a picture. Itâs not one set of advice fits all
I would love to know results
What it graded after you re-submitted.
I have enjoyed the videos. Thank you for sharing.
Hoping to get it back soon. Iâll definitely keep you posted.
Can we send you cards to restore?
Thanks for asking but I donât personally take on cards. I make the demos and products at www.kurtscardcare.com
@@kurtscardcare Understood. Will check out your products.
Ballsy.
If this was my first time, I agree 100%
Iâve done it 1000 times, but always practice on a base card and get comfortable. It will be something you know how to do and not worry about.
Very ballsy. Love it
These would be better videos if you showed the cards after cleaning AND regrading
He will
What do you mean? Watch to the end. I show the after.
I think he means the after grade. Canât wait to see this one.
