Let’s take a look at the progress we made on the last Wednesday Night Live. The surface cleanings went really well. I put the Spider-Man card between card mats with a little bit of moisture from card spray and left it overnight and the crease almost totally disappeared. I’m gonna keep working on it. I think it will go away totally. Thanks for joining the show or catching the recap. See you next...

Hey Kurt! Are you familiar with the 1991 Upper Deck Baseball Michael Jordan #SP1 card and the 1992 Upper Deck Shaq #1 card? My reason for asking is that these 2 cards are very valuable in PSA 10 (MJ is about $500 and Shaq is about $2,000). The problem with these cards is that they were often found in the packs either being on the top or the bottom of the pack...and if you know anything about the old Upper Deck packs from 1989 and early 90's, is that they are foil packs and the face cards of each pack always has a slight "dent" or slight "indent" going from top to bottom due to the seam of where the pack is folded and sealed on each pack. Do you have any videos anywhere in your current video-log that show how to remove this slight "indent" that goes along the length of the card? I have several sealed cases of these from the early 90's and have opened all the boxes and packs and I have pulled many of these cards and I would like to submit them for grading soon. Just wondering if they need to be in a humidor, or soaked in card spray, or maybe a semi-soak, or placed between 2 plastic discs with clamps? Just wondering the best way to fix this? I was hoping you have a video that explains this in detail! Or maybe you have an upcoming video that explains this? Thanks Kurt!

  • @Taurabirdy

I have an issue that I hipe you have dealt with prior. I would love any ideas you may have. Some blue sharpie from one card's front on-card auto transferred to the back of the adjacent card because they were touching each other in a box. Let me clarify; The autos had dried before I put them in the box together, the bleed happened sometime later. The autos are mostly fine on the front of the cards but some of the backs of the next card absorbed blue sharpie (transfer shadowing) from the adjacent card's front facing autograph. It is not common but it happened enough to aggravate me. Mainly see this happening on Prizm and other "shiny" type modern cards. Any ideas of how to clean the blue sharpie shadow bleed from back of these cards? P.S. anyone have a good practice when getting autos to keep them from touching each other (yes, I let them dry before I put them in a box) while walking around getting more autographs?

I have a bunch of 1969 Topps baseball Deckle edge cards that have (among other issues) gum stains. It's mind boggling how there is a split decision on whether you are altering a card. My argument to those who say you are, vintage cards were not issued with tape, gunk, creases etc. It's altered when that happens. Your only making a card to how it was originally issued, so how is that altering a card? Makes no sense to me. When I buy a classic car with original paint and interior I clean it the best I can. So I guess people are saying I altered the car????????

@@kurtscardcare What I don't get is, I've been to card shows where there is a table with a person sitting there cleaning/fixing cards right next to the grading companies, and I've had them tell me "it helps your grade" to my face. I got a patch auto and did NOT want to clean the dirt off. They told me to have it cleaned. That was a PSA guy at the Philly Card Show in 2023. I did NOT have it cleaned. So, this is my dog in the fight. What are you doing wrong? Furthermore, everything I know that is supposed to HOLD VALUE, gets restored. Otherwise, it is planned obsolescence. I didn't get to buy your stuff. Not a customer. Now, I'm not a PSA customer though. I would buy your products for things of my own for aesthetic purposes (I have a small line in my 1960 Maris that probably takes it from an 8 to a 6), but I'll never get it graded. I don't like that set in a case. Sorry for the long response. I just think you got screwed. Double standards man.
