“He has no medical issues to speak of!”
Melvin: *is constantly needing reminders to breathe* 😂
😂😂😂
This just before a long explanation of what she does for his alopecia
@@fieryvale I’m not sure if alopecia is necessarily a medical “issue”? Like you just kind of deal with it but it’s not dangerous (that I know of, idk)
@@ameliavelasco8602 Not sure it should be called "alopecia" for dogs. Ours is caused by hormones, theirs mostly by external factors and constant licking or biting to scratch an itch. despite the myth that their saliva will heal, saliva contains the first digestive enzyme and causes damage more than it solves. Any dog sensitive to parasites is likely to develop a behaviour causing said alopecia. The source can be treated, the habit, not so much. like doggy OCD. It's a non issue for me too. IF the original cause is treated. The rest is cosmetic.
Basic bad trip if you fear acarians and end up sleeping in a Canoe or a plastic bag. 🤣 Dogs don't have words and explanations and react much more.
@@auntisthenes2754 well her dog does actually alopecia, he doesn’t lick those areas. I do have a family cat that does this due to anxiety and she over grooms so she has some bald spots :( however you can still see the hair trying to grow back, it’s not a true bald spot.
One of Melvin's brain cells is dedicated to fear of grooming. The other is dedicated to holding a grudge. He's booked!

We should give Mr. Melvin a little more credit, the 2 brain cells worked well enough to help him hold a grudge for a year...that's brain power right there.
He actually has 3 brain cells, one is dedicated solely to holding grudges, hence the misconception he only has 2.
Two braincells powered by unyielding hate and rage.
@@Tenchigumithat’s the cells hate and rage
I have adopted three senior dogs, all 4- 6 lbs. Melvin has an inflamed condition that outwardly manifests in his skin condition. A small window as to what is going on internally. He is not weird, just very tiny, and exposed to who knows what that has made a more fragile breed more fragile.
The hairdryer is the equivalent to a wind tunnel for a human. Too much for the little inflamed- nervous system overloaded pup.
If his skin is inflamed so he is internally, and that includes his brain.
We have greatly improved our senior rescues using methylene blue, raw diet, natural anti parasitics, milk thistle powder, and charcoal used at times inflammation causes increase of symptoms. Those are paw licking, scratching, loose bowels, ear scratching and looking dazed, or extra hyper.
I have found that bone broth is very helpful for healing ppl and dogs. In some areas you can buy it. Mineral rich foods are important for dogs and ppl. The little dogs don’t always take to chewing on a real bone.
I appreciate this channel, have learned a few things, but was surprised by the blaming talk directed at a little guy who has been a victim of over breeding, possible over vax, meds(?), a prior dry food diet, and who knows what else.
I have seen miraculous reversals of dementia in a 12 yr old 4 lbs male chihuahua over the past year and 1/2. He definitely seemed dim and was going to be euthanized when he was rescued.

Poor buddy
Those people in your comments section have never had a truly dumb dog 😂 We had a beagle growing up who ran into our glass door just about every single day for 10 years, and was surprised every single time. Sometimes there really is nothing for it but to love them and do our best.
Our Maltese was pretty dumb. I got one of those IQ test things to do with her and she failed every single task. Loved her to bits. Eventually she got bone cancer and we had to put her to sleep. This was years and years ago. She was my 2nd dog out of 9 dogs in my lifetime.
We have an Aussiedoodle, combination of 2 of the smartest breeds. Welllll, she has 2 brain cells, and we think there is a lot of static cling inside that beautiful head. She is sweet, but no where close to bright.
We have a cat who lies in the middle of the floor in the dark and as a result gets tripped over every single night when we get up to let out the dogs, and then during the day he will go out of his way to un-alive both himself and my poor dad by getting right under his feet multiple times a day...he also will roll off high places while fast asleep, sit and intensely stare at our other cats before inevitably getting his ass whooped, and over all winning the title of *Dumbest Cat Alive* ...his name is Gabriel and I love the poor dumb b@st@rd to bits😹
Our bulldog was pretty stupid. I'm not sure how he never figured out our Great Dane's trick. If he was laying on my brother's bed when she wanted to, she'd go and ring the bells on the back door to go outside. He'd hear them and jump off the bed to go to the door...at which point she'd turn around and jump on the bed herself. He fell for it every time and she did it nearly every day for about four years. She could be so smart when she wanted to be (when she didn't, it was usually because she was dying for attention and/or food). My mom insists that our bulldog was pretty cunning, too, but I'm not so sure.
I have a dumb dog who I have been trying to teach to shake hands for 4 years and he just doesn't get it.
Melvin has to be pretty smart to hold a grudge for a year.
That’s just one of his two brain cells. The other brain cell is constantly scheming ways to yeetus deletus its host. All other critical brain tasks are completely vacant.
Considering how needlessly rough she is, I'm not surprised he remembers her. I've seen a lot of grooming videos and I would never take my dog to her. She is BRUTAL compared to most & I've seen enough of her videos to know this is her usual pattern, not an exception.

Which is a good thing, if he can't look after himself, he better be cute enough to convince other people to take care of him.

Yeah, my late cockapoo wasn’t very bright. He was probably 11 when he finally learned the trash can could contain forbidden delights. Sweetest little guy, but just not bright. I think a lot of us need a recording of her reminding us to breathe, to listen on loop when we're anxious, panicking, spiraling etc
@@SweetFreak030ell I personally think that dogs can understand humans to some sort of degree. I mean my dog she runs towards me/reacts when I say her name. OMG! He's so darned cute! His backlegs when you held him to do his tummy, looked like he was sporting over the knee boots like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman 😅
So sorry Melvin is handicapped. I bought a three year old Thoroughbred and after 6 months I asked the vet if it was possible Ruby (registered name Obey the Rules) was mentally deficient. The vet and everyone else got a big laugh; however a year later the vet apologized saying that yes my horse had intellectual deficiencies. He was the equine equivalent of a human with Downs Syndrome. But he always tried very hard, just did not succeed often. I understand how much you love Melvin. Thanks for taking good care of him.
I had a doggie, he lived until he was 16, and I think he was autistic. He wouldn't look anyone in the eye, and he seemed fairly devoid of emotion. When I came home from work, he wasn't happy to see me, he was anxious to go use the bathroom. One time, when it was snowing, he pulled me down the steps, and I rumbled down the steps, laying there, trying to figure out of I was hurt. He just kept pulling, he had zero sense of empathy. Loved him anyway...
I once took my dog to the vets to have her vision tested. She kept walking into parked cars, trees, light posts, signs etc. Once she faceplanted spectacularily into a chain fence she did not see (luckily is was some give in the fence, so she didn't get injured). And the vet was like, "nope, nothing wrong with her vision". She was just incredibly dumb. She was an extremely smart dog when it came to social cues, and would often bully other dogs by giving small cues - like fluffing up her chest, or doing a small snort at them, and it would trigger the other dog into lounging at her or barking at her. So the owner would get mad at their dog and then apologize to me and be like "oh my god, he/she is normally never like this". And my dog would look at me like "yeah, i did that" lol. But yeah, other than socially she had no spacial awareness. She once hung herself by climbing on top of a large rock, and then falling off the other side when tied in the garden. And she fell down many hills in her life. amazing dog - but dumb as a bag of rocks
@Tanjaaraus Aw she could've not have had good depth perception though!
We love Ruby for trying his best

I have a male pomeranian who had COMPLETE alopecia, bro was completely bald except for his head and paws. We gave him biotin pills and supplements for years, it barely made a dent. What actually worked was castrating him. After the surgery, 1 month later his fur started growing back SUPER fast, nowadays, 1 year later, he's 100% covered in fur. I suggest trying that out if your dog isn't castrated yet!
It might have been that your dog had to much testosterone! Was he aggressive at all? The reason human males tend to go bald when getting older is because the male body produces more testosterone then the female body does!
Testosterone also increases aggression in any species, which is why lots of dogs get neutered/castrated because it’s the testicals that increase testosterone production and end up causing aggression and hair loss
@illyachan5901 Yes, I'm aware that male pattern baldness is caused by testoterone, and seemingly that was my dog's problem.
The thing is: he was NEVER even REMOTELY aggressive at all?? I now have 2 dogs and my other one is far more energetic while the one who had alopecia is super calm, perfectly chill, never even THREATENED to bite anyone at all, and is super friendly!
I suspect it was due to when my mom asked the groomer to make my dog have the classic "bear" trim, he was still too young and the groomer trimmed TOO MUCH of his fur, affecting the 2nd layer. His fur started thinning only when and as soon as this happened.
We don't know if his siblings had alopecia too so we also have no idea if it was genetic lmao. All we know is that neutering was the last resort, and somehow it worked, so we now also suspect maybe it was extra testosterone, but it really doesn't match his sheepish demeanor xD
@@funky_galaxysome people nutteringand spadeing a dog animal abuse
@@funky_galaxy your dog more than likely had coat shock from being shaved, especially since his head and feet were intact. double coated dogs are not supposed to have their hair cut (although you can do a light outline trim) bc it causes the undercoat to take over (that fluffy frizzy hair) or baldness. See it every day in my grooming salon, especially on poms. interesting tho that neutering him seemed to reverse it, u dont often see dogs actually recover from coat shock. She never weighed more than 5-7 pounds but with all her hair she looked like a 20 pounder. Like the beauty queen she was, I swear she was all fluff and eyeballs.
melvin is literally the chicken from moana
awe he’s a good boy. he does his best ❤️🥰❤️❤️
My grandparents had a pom like this . They named him skeeter. Was completely bald except his head. Had 2 brain cells just like Melvin. Skeeter lived to be 18.
SKEETER 😂 he survived in the spite of nature, just to prove everyone wrong
I maybe dumb, but im in it for the long haul
he may be missing some brain cells, hair, teeth and nails, but he has plenty of cuteness
He's adorable! I'm not keen on handbag dogs, but I would run off with this little poppet! ❤
So precious!! You deserve an award for giving him a loving home! ❤
Omg I think he’s the cutest little thing I’ve ever seen 😭😣😣🙏🏽
As a fellow owner of a dumb doggo, I feel your pain. Melvin’s expression when you were hugging him during the blow dry was priceless!! “OH GOD MOM WHY??!” 😂 His moonwalk is fantastic.
I think just like people, some animals are just really dumb. I have had very intelligent cats and dogs, and I have had really dumb cats and dogs.
@@rokelle_2012I think you’re right. We lived out in the woods so we didn’t really do any elaborate training on any dogs we had, and they still showed more commonsense than the fancy cocker spaniel my BIL’s friend decided to just let loose when she came to visit. Dumb thing trotted down from their trailer right through our screen door without hesitating or even looking around as if he noticed doing it.
❤❤❤
I think we need to see videos of Melvin in his regular home life being a weirdo.
That would be amazing
Melvin may be quirky and lacking a few brain cells 😂 But he’s adorable. ❤️
Absolutely love Melvin, he is so cute. Melts my heart. He is probably very happy just the way he is. Even because he doesn't like the bath and dry, I am sure he appreciates the feeling afterward.
It's so generous of you to describe him as having two whole brain cells 😂 you really do see the best in all animals
😂
the same as men. Im glad you adapted him.
😂😂😂
As someone who has a...let's say 'cognitively interesting' small dog, I relate to this video. My neurospicy dog would absolutely hurl herself off of a multi-story building if I turned my back for one second, and is the reason that I have to have chicken wire around the inside of the railings on my deck. And at seven years old, she still doesn't understand the 'down' command, and probably never will. She is who she is, lol.
They can't see far so he wouldn't realise how far a drop is.
I have a tiny cat that is exactly the same way. She likes trying to drink paint water and randomly forgets who our other cat is. The vet took one look in her eyes and said "yep, that's brain damage"
she understands the down command...but she's executing it the wrong way at the wrong time 💀💀
@@aliceiscallinghow did that happen or is it a birth defect? Weird!
@@aliceiscallingbro 💀
I absolutely love how you interact with dogs, whether a client's or your own. Melvin is frickin' adorable and so lucky to have you. Great work!
Malvin is too adorable to be true. Super sensitive little guy ❤ He loves you obviously 😊
Melvin is physically and mentally a cotton ball 😂 he is so lucky to have such a kind, patient, loving and knowledgeable mom like you ♥️
He’s a fast little guy. I almost choked on my soda when he jumped out of the tub. I was sitting here saying omg,omg thinking the worst and then he poked his little head out.
small dogs be like that, every thing chill then thay jump and its 'oh shit!' then you see thay are fine for the most part.
I have a little one, that's why she goes a wonderful groomer like Melvin has!! ❤😂
He is so cute and poofy! I loved this groom. Nice to get to know a member of your fur family.😍
He is HILARIOUS!!!! Soooooo adorable!!!
Key moments:
6:08 Melvin escapes bath
8:44 Melvin wears happy hoodie (my personal favorite)
10:55 Blow dry closeup
14:05 Melvin spat straight facts
he looks like ET with the hoodie xD
He doesn't bark, he squawks.
you forgot the best moment! at exactly 10 minutes in he is doing his best impression of an ASPCA commercial puppy, and pleading for his life against the tornado that is the blow drier lmao
Thank you for these time stamp ❤️🤧
He sounds like my cat Tiger
Melvin is the physical manifestation of "I don't want to live in this world anymore". But he also might jump off of things due to cat influence.
Melvin you made my heart smile 😊🐾✨ handsome fluff 💯
I love Melvin and his 2 brain cells. He is adorable, and I understand how amazing he truly is. He is the cutest little baboon|special little guy I have ever seen.
"Shaky little chicken wing" 😂 Melvin is so cute!
Best
Nickname
Ever!
He is so lucky to have you. A raw diet, all the supplements, the love of his two, lonely brain cells. He landed in gravy when he landed with you!
Melvin isn’t dumb, he just refuses to take directions.😂
Breathe, Melvin. Breathe. 😂
I love everything about this.
Melvin moonwalking out of the tub. How he looks like a cryptid when he's wet. The absolute lack of self-preservation.
20/10 Melvin, would absolutely try to save you from yourself.
What Melvin lacks in intelligence, he makes up for in cuteness! So glad that you adopted this little sweetie! 💓
My aunt had a little Pomeranian that had been used in a puppy mill as baby daddy. When they rescued him, he was so matted that the only way to fix that was to shave him down to the skin. He looked pitiful. Looking at Melvin reminds me so much of Judge.
“Melvin could you look at me?”
His whole body standing and facing the wall.
“Could you turn around and look at me?”
He doesn’t move.
That made me laugh.
Wow, that jump off the table freaked me out. Melvin is a cutie…❤
YOU CAN SEE THE FEAR IN HIS EYES. STOP PLEASE
he’s so itty bitty 🥹 he’s basically nothing but fluff. a literal walking puff ball 🥰
Fluff and wiener 😂
Melvin must have had a horrible first two years. Thank God you ended up with him. I think he has three brain cells. One for fear, one for food, and one for love of you. I hope you gave him lots of cuddle time after his spa day.❤
Love him 😍thanks for rescuing him, this video made my day!!
Melvin is adorable but also one of the most difficult dogs I have seen you groom, due to his not standing still, he's always on the run.
Bless him. He is so fortunate to have his forever home with you. I bet he can't believe his luck, - delicious treats, loving care and pampering; treatments to save his fur and sooth his skin and live in a comfortable, cosy home.xxxx❤
