Great review! This game looks so interesting but maybe a little rough around the edges.
Solid review. Everything seemed objective and honest, and brought out possibly the best parts of the game. I usually only go to Dunkguy for reviews, but I'm happy to have found this channel.

@@brandonmunsen6035 ah yes, as you can see here, this is the very common dick of the internet. They are no use, they will sit on their phone or PC for hours just because they have nothing to do. If you ever encounter one of these things our best advice would be to either insult them or walk away
@TheColdestSpoon I go to Dunkey because he's funny. Usually his jokes do hit home on what games are good or bad; there's a good bit that I agree with and a good bit I don't agree with. For instance, I think his view on every Mario and Zelda is completely biased, annoying, and blinded by nostalgia. Even with that being said, I appreciate his input underneath the text through all the jokes and laughs.
Although, your comment implies I said dunkey was objective and honest. I absolutely didn't say that. I know he's a goofball 80% of the time.

Here's me in 2022, it was on sale on the ps store and thought it looked good enough to be worth a punt at its discounted price. I've played about 10 hours so far and have throughly enjoyed where second of it, I would happily have paid the asking price.
Just got this at Burlington for 3.99, glad I didn't bought it for 9 on the PSN. Physical all the way.

I just got the game and started doing guides as the game is pretty rough early and I wasn't able to find any answers on youtube :D
I honestly LOVE this in a game. When I played Kingdom Come, it was the same. No one was playing it. It has worked its way into one of my all time top 5 faves. Which out of 4 decades of gaming, is saying something!
I fell in love soon as I began watching trailer in the store. Just came to Tube to make sure there was nothing I missed about it. I’m about to go take the plunge right now…I think lol. Usual I’m cheap and will find 3 games for the price of this one, but I just feel like it’s worth it. My luck it will be PS4, next free one. 🤦🏻♀️ that’s how my life rolls 😂
Great review. I'm starved for decent survival games but this looks like a pass until the price drops. $50 is a little ambitious.

Me and my mom were looking at games to get for Christmas and I saw fade to silence, I didn’t know or see the game, I’ve never heard of it but since I’m a fan for fantasy games I decided to pick that game and try it out

Cyberpunk I only played 1 minute of it. And never again cuz our Xbox isn't working right now but what I think is that it's a 7/10 kinda boring

yeah I mean the game did just come out of early access, and chances are it's still a little dodgy in some regards-- hopefully a sale will bring more players and then help improve the quality. I don't think i'm gonna buy it for $40 yet though.
Still, aesthetics/design-wise? This game is right up there for me.
i worked as a qa for that game at an outsourcing company that had contracts with thq nordic
its not like there weren't tens of thousands of open issues in the bugtracker
anyhow they fired me after about 3 months
don't regret anything, it gave me a brief insight of the gaming industry

This was a review of the full game. There was a Day One patch that was set to release after reviews went live to hammer out some of the issues indicated.
this series and game has serious potential. i hope they try again this generation with a 'fade 2 silence' reboot/sequel (like lords of the fallen).

I'd say its less buggy now for pc. I just finished it and only 2 crashes. And only minor camera weirdness. Didn't lose any followers, but they might still freeze to death if ones not careful. It almost happened to me once and I just stopped bringing them along
Only about 4 hours in so far and my only 2 problems are the Eclipse mechanics are poorly explained(How it finds you, do where the cars fall track, does being out in the open affect anything, is there a set path, etc.), and followers seem difficult to say the least. Following orders seems to be an issue and hypothermia is rampant in those not bright enough to enter the shelter 3 feet away.
Other than that; it's a daunting, lovecraftian, horror-survival in a snowy post-apocalyptic wasteland that is HUGE to the least. Identifying what's a priority is a must and without much inventory space, you have to cut losses and bail sometimes. The dialogue between the main character and his daughter is endearing, helps brighten your frozen heart. Beyond all this, west at campsites in the wilderness tells a story in an almost dark souls format and its jarring unless expected.
So far, worth the $20 I got it on sale for, but only barely as I've not gotten much playtime.
11/12/19 is when I got on sale on PS4 in case anyone is scrolling had the extra cash

Ooh! Sounds really interesting, but I worry about the combat and definitely about the glitches. I think I could deal with the combat if they fixed the glitches, but if my followers freeze to death or they disappear because of glitches that'd be frustrating.

Well, I'm playing on 1.03 on the PS4 and you can soft-lock the game if you fail to dodge one of the tutorial enemy's suicide attacks.

Its a cool game but ive ran into alot of game breaking bugs. Corrupted save filed when spawning my wolfs and not crafting copper progress stays 0%. Its a fun game but not a very easy game with game breaking bugs even harder 😂
so, every time you die, do you have to rebuild your followers and settlements from scratch again?
You have a certain amount of lives to spend before you have to start over. You start with 3 or 4 extra lives, but find more as you explore.
There are also certain skills and abilities that carry over from game to game, making it a bit easier each time you start over.
The worst thing with this game, that wasn't mentioned in the review, is that the savegame can get corrupted, so make backups of your savegames if you're going to play.
Despite all that, I really enjoyed the game, and have beaten it multiple times. 😊
@@Extispex thanks. I’m so nervous now dammit. Was uber excited when I watched trailer in the store. In market for some games and usually I find 2-3 for the price of 29.99 but saw this and didn’t wanna look anymore lol. I did have eye on gen zero but looks super boring when soloing. This was recommended under that game and i immediately put in cart. But always check one review.
Such a mixed bag…are the glitches really that bad? I mean I play 76 and love every minute of it. Games that are that huge are going to have issues. Tech isn’t perfect because humans are not. That’s just life.

It would have been better if they just gave you random NPCs to find, much like State of Decay 2 given how eh the story is. The crappy daughter thing is horrible because the acting and story are bad - you don't care at all.
There is definitely something here, but I don't think it will ever be properly realized. The combat really is fucking awful though, they should have used guns and made it free aim etc (would have been a better experience with less effort on a coding and animation perspective). It's just kind of a mix and match of features that feel ripped from other games without giving them their own context... I don't think were really melded well (the focus mode, very basic crafting system etc).
Not to mention the janky animations in general are really jarring.

I like the game for some reason, but the ending is just so bad and anti-climatic. It's literally "Spam Left-Click a bunch".
Bugs were annoying, but I didn't crash too many times. Combat isn't that bad, but I did only parry and heavy attack and never dodge rolled except for Stalkers. Fucking hate Stalkers.
Nope this ain't it I'm looking g for a game kinda like stranded deep and the forest and ark ... survival games so if anybody knows any comment on this thread so I can see it lol

Game crashes to desktop normally means your system is weak . not enough ram or video memory

That's false. You can find additional items to have more lives throughout the game.

@@Benieg83 True. But throughout the game you get access to items that make perma death not as bad as it seems. You actually keep some progress.
Moreover, as you progress towards the game, I'm gonna be straight with you, the game gets incredibly easy. The enemies are extremely predictable. They are very simplistic in their attack pattern. If you struggle to play this game after a couple hours, even in co op with a friend, survival games just aren't cut for you.
This argument kinda makes me think of people complaining about Dark Souls and it's death system when you lose your souls. If you don't like this type of game, don't play it. You not liking this aspect of the game doesn't make it an issue.
Personally, I love this kind of hardcore aspect. Keeps you on edge and the risky actions you constantly have to take are satisfying.

Played this last night .its absolute garbage. Enemies walked right through solid objects. Ash dissapeared at one point. It feels like a bad ps2 game.
Looks about as cold and exciting as watching snowflakes fall. This is the 3rd video and all made me yawn. I'll pass on this game.

We didn’t build anything in Horizon…Or have followers. And we rode and fought robots, not demons. And we didn’t have to eat or worry about other’s plans survival.
It’s been a few min since I finished horizon but the snow is only thing I see similar and snow wasn’t all of horizon- only parts, like the expansion. 🤷🏻♀️
