  • On request, I have continued the Oly35mm project, but with a change. There will be no more camera reviews. Instead, in 2016, I will be adding Zuiko glass to the front of digital mirrorless cameras. Where possible, I will add my thoughts to CZcams, Google + (plus.google.co..., Flickr (www.flickr.com..., and Facebook ( / oly.thirtyfivemm .
    **PLEASE NOTE**
    The Oly35mm 2015/16 project is now closed and I will not be answering any more comments (as from 1st April 2017).
    Thank you to all who have taken the time to watch these videos, and a special thank you to everyone who commented, or added extra information to them.
    I wish you all many happy years of using film, or any other photography you enjoy.
    Cheers
    Oly

      Flash, huh? Still cheerful, but not so cheap (actually it really is still cheap).

    Glad that you're sticking around! As well as Olympus cameras, I love Zuiko glass! So looking forward to watching the upcoming videos.

      Cheers +Jennifer M. I believe Zuiko glass has a unique look. The OM stuff is my favourite, but the Pen F is great for the smaller APS-C and MFT sensors.

    Great to see you back with new fresh upcoming episodes focusing on legacy manual lenses. I also use Sony A7 with the exact same orange para cord bought from a UK seller on eBay :-)
    There are a lot of great and not so great older lenses out there. I did my own test of about 30 lenses this weekend focusing first on Soviet made lenses from the 50s to the 80s and found one that is absolutely on of the sharpest lenses which is the Helios 40-2 85mm F1.5 manufactured in 1987. Wish I could lend you my lens collection for you to make episodes on as I have quite a few.

      +swiftangel88: wow, you may want to start your own channel. Thanks for the thought, but I reckon I'll be kept busy enough with my own.

    Funny...I'm actually going backwards with this: I got back into film cameras after first shooting the A7/A6000 with old lenses.
    A little tip when shooting the A7 with film-era glass: shift into A mode and auto-ISO, focus wide-open with magnification, stop-down to the desired DOF, compose and shoot. Immediately throw the lens wide open again after the shot so that you're ready for the next.
    Glad to have you back and looking forward to your new videos.

      I really hope you enjoy the retrogression. I had an absolute ball with film and hope to still shoot the odd roll this year.
      Thanks for the Sony A7 tip.

    Mate I have the 24mm 2.8 / the 35mm 2.0 / and the 50mm 1.4 / I use them on an OM 1 but i also have an OMD EM1 but no adaptor yet so i'll be watching with great interest. Keep up the great work mate. Andrew. Cairns.

      The 50mm f1.4 makes a great portrait lens on the MFT sensor (and, as you know, an excellent all-rounder on the OMs).

    a Pentax Q might have been interesting as well with its smaller sensor

      Good call. I'd also thought of the CX sensor in the Nikons, but I'm strapped for cash this year (spent too much on cameras last year). I'll need to limit it to the three sensors this year.

    Hi, thank you for sharing the video. However, I wonder how the aperture is controlled since on film body the aperture only stops down when shooting.

    • @oly35mm
      @oly35mm  Před 8 lety

      The adapter stops down the aperture to whatever is set on the lens (generally via a metal finger attached to the inside of the adapter barrel). The modern cameras that 'gain up' their EVF/screens compensate for the stopped down lens and still seem bright. The bonus is the WYSIWYG depth of field.

      +oly 35mm Thank you very much for reply. I should get myself an adapter too.

      @oly35mm  Před 8 lety

      Maurice W. Hsieh: depending on the mount and brand, they start at about AU$15 (US $12). Make sure they state infinity focussing. If you have longer/heavier lenses see if you can find one with a tripod mount.

      Thank you. I would make sure if the adapter works properly on my fuji X series camera body.
