Between this and Persona 5 Royal I’m thinking I should start waiting a year or two after any major RPG release before committing to a purchase.
I've played thr original persona 5 twice and I've had persona 5 royal since release and still haven't played cause of the length.waiting is starting to sound like a good idea

Just to say that this Dragon quest 11 S is a portage of the switch version in terme of graphisme. Not the first PS4/PC version
Everyone is forgetting the huge graphical downgrade which the PS4 didnt really need.
Platinumed the PS4 version, so would be nice to just get that upgrade via DLC. I probably won't buy it again. The added content doesn't reflect the full price if you already own it on PS4.
I will pay it just for the orchestral soundtrack lol

Was just thinking today about grabbing it for PS4. I had no idea there was a definitive edition. Stoked to grab it for XB1, gonna grab it release day to help the sales numbers!

I have the original, but I stopped about 5 hours in because I couldn't stand the OST (which is ironic as i make JRPG soundfont videos). I'm actually glad I did now, as it means I'll get to finish it with the full, grand score.
I just bought dragon quest 11 on the summer sale... damn... now I feel bad for getting the vanilla version before even noticing the new version...

For price it was $40 on steam. Unknown on PS4 or anything else but if $40 is still a decent price.
Personally excited to play the game again but on steam for small streams since I also didn't get the OG on steam either

No you weren't. The PS4 port is a port of the downgraded Switch version instead of the first PS4 version.

Upgrade I think no chance. Square enix has physical preorder at 40. Hoping that be the case. Definitely want to buy for my ps4 though I have standard version
. The music think ok but I am interested in new story specific quests. Besides one game I always have fun playing except for the dumb 5th trial thing which I will never ever do again

@@juanlash It seems like this is going to be a direct port from switch, so it's a lot inferior visually than the PS4/Steam version. Seems like a lazy port, so no I won't be buying it, don't think it's worth it, even if you don't have the original version.

I already purchased the PC version and put in 70+ hours into it so I'm not splashing out full price for ANOTHER copy of the same game. It WOULD be nice for this to be a free to $10 DLC for PC owners (but keep the gorgeous PC graphics though).
It's great that DQ11S is coming to all the platforms, but I just bought 11S on Switch a week ago, and picked Switch over PC specifically for the extra content and QoL changes. Knowing that the extra content is going to make its way to my platform of choice (PC) leaves me wondering if I should just keep playing the Switch version, or hold off and wait for PC.
I don’t know if you know this already but the game is a port of the switch version itself. Probably best to keep the switch versions mainly for the portability of it I say

Super excited! I own the original DQXI on PC and DQXI: S on Switch. Really really really hoping for an upgrade option! 🤞🏻 But, if not I may pick it up on Xbox just to support the franchise on Xbox.
IAMBrenner I think it’s really cool it’s coming to Xbox. I hope the Series X has an option for 4K 60fps. That would be amazing.
It’s both weird and not surprising that they confirmed no upgrade for existing owners. It’s also nuts that it’s based off the Switch port so I’m definitely waiting to see reviews and comparisons.

I like playing on switch but if they have cross play on steam I would be down. If not, I can't foresee playing all those hours again.
And the soundtrack was fine man. I never had any problem with the original soundtrack not being Orchestrated. Sounded fine.
Would you say it's worth sacrificing graphics for new content? I'm not sure if I should sell the original PS4 DQ11 (which I've yet to play) for the new version.
lain11644 Absolutely. The speed up in battle and soundtrack alone would be worth the graphical downgrade imo.

Hi JRPG Central, before people sell their existing PS4 copies, note that this new version is a port of the Switch game, so while you may get better audio, the graphics are apparently a downgrade. damn im curently playing dq xi on the ps4. i had the choise of picking the definitive edition on the switch at full price and downgrade visual or the cheaper standart version on ps4 with better graphics i went fot the ps4. if i would have known i wouldhave waited but wathever ill keep playing the standart edition on ps4. btw its my first dq game, its not really what i expected in terms of side quests, i mean you get very few compared to other rpgs. the game is kind of linear. im not complaining thou the main story is very entertaining and better this way than boring fetch side quests

The new Definitive Edition is a straight port of the Switch version, including graphical downgrade, so if that was your biggest hurdle, then you're all good with the vanilla release. Also, the game is HUGE. Keep playing, there's a lot going on, including a ridiculous post game that's like a third of the story.

I feel like DQ7 and 8 are inevitable sense they where on the 3DS and they seem to be bringing many games from the system over to the switch.

A port of the mobile version of DQ4 would actually be ideal since that one has the party chat that was cut from the English release of the DS version.
It's already confirmed that it'll be $40 and no upgrade DLC will be available.

The only thing that Annoys me is that the graphics are going to look worse compared to the original because it was ported from the switch, it's doubley annoying because I have been waiting for the definitive edition to come out only to find it will have worse graphics than the vanilla version
The only problem is the rumors that it'll have the same graphics as the Switch version, which was one of the most disappointing things about the Switch version imo. It lost a LOT of the luster that the PC and PS4 versions had graphically, as well as removing the First Person Zoom feature which I LOVED! I will not be buying it if it doesn't have the graphics of the PS4 version and if they don't leave the First Person Zoom feature intact like they should/

I've heard mumblings that the S version coming to PS4 and Xbox is just a straight up port of the Switch version with it's graphics. I hope this isn't true as I'd love to play this on Xbox on Game Pass

and there is no upgrade for ps4 owners of the original. and its a switch port so, graphics downgrade. SE greed is going to far, i love DQXI and i own both PS4 and switch version, but what they're doing is just ludicrous.
not to keen on buying a port, its also still a backstab to the pc and ps4 fans who allowed the game to get so big
I will be re-buying it for the PS4 IF AND ONLY IF it has the enhanced graphics of the PS4 version and not the downgraded Switch graphics, AND ONLY if they keep the First Person Zoom feature intact. They inexplicably removed it from the Switch version and I HATED that!
