HRP Super Comfort Seat Swap on 2020 Honda Rebel 500

I was finally able to get a new seat for my 2020 Honda Rebel 500. I wanted one that would be able to save my rear fender and something more comfortable than the stock seat. I want to get a sissy bar in the future for long trips to tie up my backpack on, and I don’t want to scratch up the beautiful matte blue paint job on the rear fender.
I’ve taken the seat out on rides longer than 2 hours and compared to the stock seat, this is MUCH BETTER! I noticed it does add a slight increase to height to be able to flatfoot the bike. I’m 5’1” and am still able to flatfoot comfortably.
I tried to use the available tools my bike provided, which was about half of the necessary. The Allen Key that comes with the bike can be used to remove the stock seat. You WILL NEED A 6MM Allen Key to loosen and reattach the bolt on the rear fender for the new seat bracket! Be sure not to strip it either!

My passengers have enjoyed the rides! I just love how it changes the whole look of the bike to a bit bigger and intimidating look!

@@LyssaWithAnE If all goes well with my cash flow, I’d surely get the 1100, but since I’m working on a budget, and it’s going to be my first bike, I’m fine with the 500. How long have you been riding?
Yeah, honestly, the 500 is perfect for me😌 but I’ve only been riding since September of this year! I’ve had a moped during high school for 3 years but that was a while ago and it never went past 45mph😂

Thanks! I really like the look of the seat on this bike😁 it makes it look a bit bigger or “tougher” if I may say so myself 😂 I haven’t had a passenger ride on it yet, but if it feels the same as the driver, then they’ll be riding comfortably😌😁

Tip. If you own a set of Allen keys don't bother removing the side cover and a screw to get the seat Allen key.

Truthfully, I think anything will be better than stock!
So at first, the seat seems a bit hard in comfort ness... it’s a little wider than stock, and you’ll immediately notice it. It also felt like it adjusted the height of the bike for me to be able to flatfoot it. It wasn’t too drastic of a difference, but with me being short, I noticed it😂
I went on a ride I usually do that is about a 4hr total drive and it was much easier and bearable! With the stock seat, my legs and hips would start cramping and my butt would start hurting. But with this seat(even though first impressions was it felt harder than stock), it was much better in the long run!
The material of the seat is like leather, I love it. The stitching was designed great with a constant pattern throughout. Overall, I would recommend!

I have! The seat is perfect for me, I feel it’s much better than the stock. The ride itself wasn’t too bad! My passenger had a good amount of room and she said the vibration of the bike wasn’t noticeable at all!

The tools you bike came with are on the UNDERSIDE of your stock (original) seat...but you probably know that by now. ;-)

Hey Toni, thanks for the love on the video! I’m not ENTIRELY sure if this seat will fit on the new 1100 rebel. I did hear that they have modified the stock seat for the 2021 Rebel to make it feel “more comfortable for the rider” but I’m not sure how much of an upgrade it would actually be.

I would think the body frame on the new bike wouldn’t change DRASTICALLY to introduce a new seat alignment. The changes would be mainly to the bottom of the frame to accommodate for the bigger engine, but again, I’m not 100% sure... MY best bet if I were you, would be to wait till you get the bike and see how that new stock seat actually feels(if you’re already thinking about changing it out)! Kudos to you and I would LOVE to be updated on your journey coming up with your new 2021 Rebel!😁

Honestly, it’s MUCH more comfortable than the stock seat. I haven’t really sat or looked at other seats but this one makes it x1000 more bearable for long rides! If you’re looking for a seat with a passenger portion attached, I’d keep looking into this one! If you want just a regular 1seater, I’ve heard the Cobin seats are amazing!

In Thailand the standard Honda Rebel comes standard with the separate passenger seat and pillion foot pegs.
Your seat one piece seat looks better though.
You need to tell us later if that new seat is actually more comfortable than the original seat after riding one hour.
Yeah, I’ve noticed the bikes sold everywhere else other than the US comes with the passenger seat and pegs as a standard product! I wish the US did that as well😩

It absolutely is way more comfortable and looks much better for how I am trying to make my bike look!
One bolt does seem risky to have the seat stay on the bike, but there’s also a lip near the front of the seat that goes into the gas tank which helps it stay on the bike as well! It seems sketch in the video, but it honestly feels fine!😁
Can you do a video on how to carry a passenger? Or at least have a passenger do a review of the seat, I'm interested in buying this for next year and learning to take a passenger.

I am so sorry, I haven’t actually rode with a passenger officially on my seat with me except to the end of our street we live on!😭 I’ve got the seat, but am waiting on the passenger pegs and a custom sissy bar to come in to OFFICIALLY take a passenger out on a ride. I can do a video after that in regards to having someone ride as passenger and how they felt! But other than the short clip of my friend on the bike as passenger, that’s all experience I have in that department😩 if you want me to ask him how it felt for that short time riding on the back, I can definitely get an answer for you! It just might not be as great of an experience to go off of just yet🙁 I apologize!

Thanks for watching! So, after riding on the stock seat for 30 minutes non-stop, my butt starts tingling and legs(hips) start getting uncomfortable... but with this new seat, I can last HOURS before I start feeling anything. It’s amazing!
When first getting on it though, it feels a bit harder than the stock seat, which is weird... and it’s pretty slippery if you’re wearing specific clothing(like leggings-sorry, I’m a female and I wear leggings when on some rides) because of the material it’s made of. I haven’t rode it in the summer so I haven’t experienced if the sun or heat affects it either. But overall, it’s a huge difference from the stock seat in ALL aspects. Hope this helped!

Yeah honestly, the stock seat never bothered me to the point where I would dread riding it. I thought it wasn’t too bad for a stock seat! Does this seat seem stable as only being held by screw and slid into frame as opposed to 2 screws on stock
The seat seems really stable actually. I know what you’re thinking, just one screw… But the metal piece that slips under the tank and frame actually locks it in pretty well!

Mine is a little wiggley in the front . Did you tighten anything in the front ? I obviously screwed down the back but it’s still kinda wiggles haha
I didn’t need to tighten anything other than the back screw! But I’d say make sure the seat is seated good between the tank and the frame if you haven’t done so already. There’s a spot between the tank and frame where it could get caught and not properly seated! I hope this helps, and I’m sorry if not!

@@LyssaWithAnE no, Honda has an accessory backrest for their accessory passenger seat. I like your seat better and was wondering if the backrest would still work with that seat
Ohhhhh okay, I see. I’m not 100% sure since I don’t have either of the Honda backrest or their passenger seat, but I will say that the height of the seat on the passenger area measuring from the fender is a solid 3.5inches... if that helps? I’ve been looking at photos of the Honda Rebel backrest and it LOOKS like the seat would fit fine with it, but I’m not 100% sure, I’m sorry!
