I like the fact that the title of this video was singular not plural. I felt your excitement when you found that second volume.
While not quite a pun, i do like using nouns that have both countable and uncountable forms to layer something into the titles 😁 Pity I'm more focused on the wordplay than on being proficient with manipulating the information gap and other algorithm attracting behaviour!

Oh no! I had no idea these editions even existed! I love the vellum paper technique that is shown. As you said, those are worth the price of admission alone. Now I have to try and track these down. Once again, your channel has shown me something amazing for one of my favorite books

There must have been some sort of re-pricing because Amazon showed me a list of 99 dollars with The Black Ace volume available at around 70. No sign of the others though, which is a pity.

This is so beautiful! That tracing paper technique was sublime. What an experience. I have no idea how many times I said wow throughout the video.
Although these are not the biggest, most famous, most expensive, or the most rare books out there, I honestly believe they are some of the most beautiful books I own...
Making a find like that with one of your favorites is so special in this hobby. And then there was three! Super happy for you. The books look like true Special Editions, too.
I have not read this series but I’m pretty sure it’s somewhere on my endless buy list. Graphics alone look like something I’d enjoy.
I made two surprise finds within in a week too. They were not on this level but still give that fuzzy good feeling:)

I took a quick look at ebay and found the lowest price to be 140...
I saw the Black Ace volume on Amazon for 70, i think! 140 seems high, but i did foolishly put on record that i would have paid three times what I did...
But yes, Petersen's art is a showstopper. It's wonderful that the 'simple' stories have such depth too 😁

Thank you; yes, got lucky there but it's one of those things that every one of us, I feel, will have experienced at some point of time or the other. Such is the joy of our hobby! }
As for Mouse Guard, yes, do try it out. It's a lovely series, the seriousness and sincerity of which I greatly admire. But even people who do not find it their cup of tea will admire the artwork, I feel.

This was an excellent overview of these limited editions which I've also eyed many a time on eBay. Having you leaf through these confirms my expectations that this is indeed what I think Mouse Guard should look like. I, as you know, didn't quite like the coloring of the first book after reading it, which to me is due to the texturing in the colors looking like overblown digital files with not enough resolution. This is of course entirely mitigated with these black and white editions, bringing me yet again to the conclusion that I am a few items short in my bookshelf after having visited your channel :)
This video really reminds me that I have to jump back onto reading this series, I have been slacking way too much on the comics front lately...

So glad you liked it and yes, these editions are just fine to be called the definitive editions of these three books at least. However, I will urge you to at least take a look at Winter 1152 in colour to see the leap made. I have a feeling you will not object to the colours as much in that and The Black Axe, but if you do - there's always these!

Oh my... I never knew Petersen's artwork could appeal even more to me, really got stuned to see the first book showcased, but the three of them! What incredible editions, I keep finding mouse guard's an itch I seriously need to scratch. Keep them videos coming! your production keeps getting better every time.

I can't believe I have yet to read Mouse Guard. I'm not sure exactly how to start collecting it.
Fall 1152, then Winter 1152 to start with. After that there are a couple of different ways to approach it

Yes it does. Although fewer instances. But instead of weather, they are used to show ripples on water's surface.

Yes it does, although only a couple. But it also has vellum pages to show ripples on water's surface - i didn't show it during the video because it would have had to include a major spoiler!

@@yadvindersingh1113 bahut mehenga padta hai, rights and permissions and licences, then translation, then production. Colour and pictures especially. Plus Hindi language price points are low, and demand ka koi estimate nahin. Makes it risky for investment by publishers. But definitely possible if someone takes the effort and the risk.
