    move your foot a little closer towards the wave, then let the nose run up the wave and push it back down. Its the down sections where you get your speed boost. Try it with a rope, go as far back as you can and use only pumping to get the wave back.

    • @donaldstewart5634
      @donaldstewart5634 Před 3 lety +1

      Yes using the upper third “power zone” of the wave to then run down and increase speed.

    Another tip as a driver is to slightly slow the boat down and let the rider catch up if they are falling back

    Thanks for the tips. For pumping I think it is more of the board bouncing side to side vs the board bouncing front to back. I use my toes, which are almost hanging off the board (size 12 feet) to pump side to side.

      When you say you only stay up for 30 seconds, what happens? Do you lose the wake and fall out the back? Or tip over? What boat and what board are you using?

    • @ChantelBoats

      Hi Adrian, I really like the Liquid Force Primo (www.activewake.com/shop/aws-pro-shop/wakesurf/liquid-force-2021-primo-ltd-w-straps/) as a board that is easy to get up on and will grow with you. If you want a board that is just for beginners and you'll get something different as you get better, the Liquid Force Rocket (www.activewake.com/shop/aws-pro-shop/wakesurf/2021-liquid-force-rocket-wakesurf-board/). Not sure what will still be available in 2021s, but 2022s are coming out soon!

    • @ChantelBoats
      @ChantelBoats  Před 3 lety

      keep at it! you'll get it! just a little weight shift is all you need, and make sure you move your weight earlier than you think you need to. there's definitely a little lag between the weight shift and the board starting to move.

    Recently getting into wakesurfing I’ve Practiced about 2 sessions now and been trying to get comfortable with the wave and get the feeling for the sweet spot but when I start to go back a little I lean forward a good amount so i can go forward but then most of the time the front nose of my board goes down under the water am I leaning to forward? Or is my foot placements on the board to forward leading for the nose to go under?

    • @ChantelBoats
      @ChantelBoats  Před 3 lety

      Hi Angel! Definitely could be that you are leaning too far forward. Try to anticipate a little earlier when you need more weight forward and then you won’t have to lean so far forward. You can also experiment with foot placement, but if you get too far back on the board, you’ll have to lean forward the whole time! Hope this helps!

    Hey Chantal, I have 2015 wakesetter 22VLX, something doesn't seem right with the wave, i couldn't hold in the pocket and always had to use the rope to pull myself back, and when going down stream in the river compared to upstream it changed so much when the speed was set. This is the first time I've surfed behind this boat as i only just bought it. Surf tabs were working fine, i just used the standard setting programmed in the boat for surfing which was 100% ballast in all tanks and then the surf tab for whichever side we had to surf. Any tips and creating a nicer surf wave? IS the standard setting of ballast not the best to use etc.. Or adding more ballast with bags? Or emptying the ballast a little on the opposite side I'm surfing?

    • @ChantelBoats
      @ChantelBoats  Před 2 lety

      Hey Matthew, sorry for the delayed response! Do you have the extra plug n play bags? Are you surfing regular or goofy?

    • @nx2269
      @nx2269 Před rokem +1

      If your wave is different going upriver vs downriver, it’s probably because the boat cruise control is anchoring to GPS speed over ground rather than apparent speed in the water. E.g. if you’re set at 10.5 mph GPS speed over ground, in a 1 mph river the boat and wave will act like 9.5 mph downstream and 11.5 mph upstream. Adjust your GPS speed when changing directions so you hit the same, desired speed through water.

    • @ChantelBoats
      @ChantelBoats  Před 2 lety +1

      Once you get the hang of it, you can pretty much surf for however long you want, or until you run out of lake. Most of the falls just come from trying tricks, or just being done with your set.

      The three stock hard tanks, plus the bow bag and the two rear p n p bags! If it’s a beginner kid, Lift. Beginner adult, a 1 or 2, then higher if they need more push!

      I thought that was a little kid on the board! 🤣🤣. People should learn to surf in the ocean first. As a surfer I see so many wakesurfers who apparently are pretty good making so many mistakes with body positioning and especially their leading arm position. Watch pro surfers wakesurf for the first time. They totally rip it to shreds 😉
