I eat a lot of mushrooms you can do a lot with them for using them as a meat substitute...i even made cheese steaks with portobello mushrooms. Thanks for this recipe i'm definitely going to try this

Man, as a carnivore man who can cook, I can adapt most for my girlfriend who is vegetarian. I'd never considered something this 'smokey' on the taste spectrum. This is a truly a wonderful recipe with some excellent little side notes. I guess the difference here is a trained chef on his game vs the average recipe. Well done sir!
I'm not vegan, but I have friends who are and I would love to have more recipes to cook for them. I'd like to see more vegan videos especially with this guy.

***** I think the point is that most vegans oppose eating meat because of the way animals are slaughtered and the conditions they are kept in before slaughter. So while this guy is fine with saying he is a vegan because he doesn't eat meat, he makes his living off the same practices that he's against.
Let me give you an analogy that might make more sense. A guy who says he does not do drugs and is against drugs in general, yet sells drugs as his major form of income. Surely, you can see the hypocrisy here.
Miser Jin Major vegan youtubers make profits from meat advertising before their videos. Nurses need to feed meat to their patients who cannot eat on their own. Supermarket employees need to stock and checkout animal products. Vegan restaurants are a niche market so if someone wants to be a chef they will need to cook meat.
The people who need to serve meat as part of their profession but choose for their own lives not to consume any animal products are not in the wrong. They are just functioning inside of how society is set up at the moment. Tons of popular vegan restaurants, vegan hospitals, vegan supermarkets etc would solve that problem.

I watched this 2 years ago, tried to find my commnent. I had been making Vegan pulled mushroom for years, but I soak them in RUM, thai coconut spice rub, some sundrieds tomatoes and add Daiya cheese to bing it at the end. I use a variety of mushrooms like Portobello sliced thin and use be sauce that has a smoked flavour. I came here to see what I did different as i need to save time....

+Artharax The difference between Vegans and Vegetarians is that Vegetarians will not eat meat, but depending on their preferences can still consume eggs and dairy as it does not contain meat nor the death of the animal to prepare it. However, Vegans do not eat any animal products at all - so no meat, no egg and no dairy especially due to the inhumane way most of the animal products are obtained. I'm not sure if you're trolling or not - but I figured I'd just throw this out there.
Found this video this morning, and making it now. sauce is good, waiting for mushrooms. had to improvise with an oven (apt living, no balcony)....will keep you posted. smells good.

Has anybody actually tried this recipe? Well I did except I used organic portabella mushrooms. I couldn’t find the kind of mushroom he was using in the grocery store, but those portabellas were so delicious. I added a slice of non-dairy cheese and a touch a vegan mayo on toasted rye bread. It melts in your mouth! So so so good. I’m so thankful for this cooking show!
The guy is easygoing, technical, has pedagogical skills. This recipe is enjoyable to watch and I really want to try this stuff now. Well done!

I eat them every night at home. At my favorite vegan restaurant, I always choose them for my meat alternative. Complex umami flavor, and satisfying texture.

It's not. Before going vegan i thought I'd miss out on lots but you really don't. Every non vegan food and desserts can be made vegan. Vegan ribs, cheesecakes, burgers, etc... Even my non vegan family loves vegan food. I think we get a bad rep in food due to our past food that truthfully used to be crap but it has come a long way. Cheese is the only thing that needs work and even then if you live in the us there is some good cheeses that i heard taste like the real thing. If you want to go vegan start with vegan mock foods and also watch earthlings, gary yourofskys best speech, forks over knives, and conspiracy. Its what helps me 😊 Trust me... It's worth it for so many reasons.

I like about him that he is modest in describing food in the process. Many CZcams chefs use exaggerated adjectives exclusively, which makes everything sound the same. This guy doesn't need this; his food and style speak for itself.
