What’s your favorite vegan food to grill during summer?
corn on the cob
@@cynthiah1298 you beat me to it! There's nothing better than corn on the cob grilled, but charcoal grills do better on vegetables than gas in my opinion.
Whether I make my own or use store bought, the field roast plant-based sausages and brats are my fav to grill! The smart life hot dogs are good too but you have to really watch them on lower heat because they’ll black n burn quick if you’re not careful!
I love grilled romaine!
Sliced and marinaded aubergine on the BBQ is my fave ❤️
The saucy cooking show I can’t stop watching 😎
ha! Do you have a list of puns you keep handy? You always nail them.
Y’all should do a collaboration 😎
@@RainbowPlantLife do a collaboration with Wil Yeung😎! !
Love you both🧡❤❤
Heading over to your channel next. Collaboration 🙏 please!
The way you put on an entire French artist ensemble 🎨 for like a three-second gag, you must really love us. 😭
I love how your face ✨ LIGHTS UP ✨ every single time you taste your food, it is so endearing. 🥰
🥰 I really do! It was my favorite part of the video lol! And now I have a new Halloween costume 😂 thanks for your sweet comment!
YES! THIS GIRL KNOWS HOW TO TOFU!!!
Haha thank you Mary! I’m honored 🙇🏽♀️
Your sauces have changed my life. Legit. Meal prepping has become so much better because of these sauces
1. You look way cooler than I do when you're grilling.
2. I want to see more of Nisha the artist.
3. That grilled tofu looks excellent!
Haha thanks! I have a huge variety pack of those stick-on mustaches, so I guess I can make #2 happen.
Not gonna lie I live tofu, and will often pop a naked cube in my mouth while I'm cooking. I also LOVE that you do these aldi collabs... I shop there a lot for staples and its great to know that healthy options can be affordable-cheaper even! (and tasty!)
Hahaha I love that you love it so much! To each her own 😉 And yes, definitely! So many creative things you can do without breaking the bank.
@@RainbowPlantLife beans and rice is like my favorite thing!
Nice to see someone grilling tofu! Feel like needs to be more of that on here!
If you cut tofu in thin slices like burger Pattie’s and marinate them in the plant-based chicken bouillon, they taste like grilled chicken breasts!
Yes, there are so many wonderful plant based foods you can grill. And I’m so intrigued by your suggestion!
That's genius ! I honestly didn't even think of trying to grill tofu until seeing this video, I'm going to have to try that too !
I really want to thank you for this video. Our BBQ has cobwebs on it since we have gone plant-based a few years ago, and I find the internet is lacking in good BBQ recipes for vegans. This is exactly what I have been looking for. I also appreciate the extra little instructions on how to prepare the grill for barbecuing these skewers. I absolutely 💯 know that I will be using these recipes 🔥A LOT🔥 this summer. You are rocking the grill Nisha!! 🌎💦Ⓜ️ary🇨🇦 PS - I came here from Immy’s channel (Sustainably Vegan). Massive shout-out to Immy for always recommending your channel and your recipes. Ⓜ️
Hey Mary! You’re so sweet. Thanks for your thoughtful comment! Glad this is getting you excited to use your grill :) And yes, Immy is so great, glad you found my channel through hers.
Love that Aldi made tofu a standard product. Now we need to get them to carry vital wheat gluten, tahini, and nutritional yeast.
Is this just in the US?
I have made so many of your dishes and they have all been Uber delicious. You have taught this 56 year old woman some new tricks! Seriously, thank you soooo much for your channel. I have fallen in love with cooking again from your recipes!
I love your recipes so much because they're creative yet doable. There's an ALDI near my parents' house that I need to go visit more often, thanks for the reminder!
🥰 I’m honored. Thanks Victoria!
Aldis is goated
OMG the scene of you painting 🤣
👨🏽🎨😂 glad you enjoyed it
Love that you always give substitution tips for common allergens! These sauces all look aaaaaamazing!
These sauces all look amazing! I also just have been having a really tough time lately and I realized your videos are so soothing and uplifting, so thank you! ☺️
So happy to see you post regularly again (as you had said you would!)! Hope you have been great 🥰
I cannot wait to try these skewers on the grill plus some of those sauces! I just started my plant-based journey a few months ago, even though I've been learning and watching your videos for a few years, and I was feeling lost on how to still enjoy cooking on my grill over the summer and this is super inspiring! You definitely inspired me to try this recipe and have shown me how sauces and dips can really elevate a meal! Thank you so much !! ❤️❤️❤️
You're truly creating incredibly well rounded recipes. Each and every one of these sauces has all the necessary aromas to make tofu, a basic but very versatile ingredient, a star of any dish. And I love the suggestions for customizations!
The citrus chipotle is the new one for me. YUM❣️ You used my go to marinade for tofu. 🥰
Glad to hear it! The citrus chipotle one is so tasty - the perfect blend of sweet, smoky, tangy and spicy!
Omg! Just finished making and eating this! Pure art in our mouth. We have NEVER had a bad recipe from your video, blog or cook book. Everything is always perfect! My wife and I are obsessed and definitely adding this to our meal rotation. The three sauces (insert chef’s kiss) are everything. Thank you so much!
Great episode! The recipes, the presentation (mustache, et. al.), the overall production value. Seems like your hiatus has spawned a real level-up!!! Kudos!!!
Glad to see I'm not the only one who cooks tofu that way. I always see people doing blocky cubes, but I like to make wafer thin rectangle sheets like that. The surface area is much higher and the heat gets all the way through because they're so thin. Love it. Great video. I want to make that salsa!
Totally agree! I tried doing thicker blocks just as an experiment because it looked cooler and it basically ended up tasting raw lol.
I’m team tofu triangles
This looks so fun! Thanks for the stellar content as always! Can't wait to try this
I’m so glad you think so 🥰
Best timing ever, I just got a BBQ yesterday and I didn't know what to make for my vegan self! As always, thank you so much Nisha!
This is exactly what kind of thing I was going to look up. And you just posted earlier today ❤️ thanks! I'm excited to try 🤤
Wonderful timing 😉 hope you’ll love them!
I found out only a couple of months ago how much I love tofu. I picked up some pre-marinated Chinese 5-Spice tofu just to see if I would like it and surprise! I just stood over the pan and half of it was gone. I've made a couple recipes since then with breading, and I think my next step needs to be grilling! The timing of this couldn't have been better. I really appreciate how flavorful your recipes are, but also the sense of humor that accompanies these videos. "Is this your first time grilling?" made me cackle with laughter and I'm glad that didn't get cut out. Even when I was a meat eater I didn't grill often so I related to that hardcore. XD Really looking forward to trying these sauces, especially the combo at the end. (PS - I'm really looking forward to your cookbook!)
your lettuce wraps were AMAZING! I bet this peanut sauce would go great on them! thank you!
Oooh looks so yummy. Can't wait to try these. Your recipes are always spot on. Thanks!
I’m so glad you are back!
Oh my goodness, I can't wait to recreate! I've dubbed Monday night as Grill Night in our casa and have been looking for something aside from veg burg + portobello mushrooms to grill! Appreciate you!
Thanks for explaining how to season the grill and how to adjust the heat. I'd pretty much given up on trying to grill tofu, but I think this knowledge will make the difference.
All of your videos tear me up. But in a good way :) You're the best! Thank you for all this beautiful content. I can't get enough! Bravo :D So well done!
Thanks for the inspo!
I'm so glad I found your video and I'm looking forward to making the recipes. Thanks 🌷.
This is so good! Did not expect it to be so delicious! wonderful!
These look amazing! Thank you!! One thing I love to do with the leftover peach/mango salsa is to add some black beans and corn. This turns it into a complete meal salad that is amazing to take to work or to a get-together!
Love this! Those sauces look fantastic - thanks for sharing!
Of course! The sauces are all so versatile and delicious. Hope you’ll enjoy them!
Good tips on oiling the grill a few times. It worked great!
I've had the tofu skewers at Kindred! Excited to make a homemade version following your recipe! XOX
Yay! I always see these vegan recipes I want to try but never get around to making them because the ingredients aren’t at Aldi. Thank you so much for this video!
I just discovered your channel and I knew I had to subscribe instantly!! I can’t wait to try this grilled tofu yum!! 🌞🍉
Couldn't agree more. I absolutely love cooking with tofu and the sauce makes all the difference! Great video!
I love how she gets excited when she tastes something good
Love you.. Great recipes and finesse. I’m always inspired to cook something healthy because of your recipes..
My tofu has definitely stuck to the grill before lol - I appreciate that tip. These look tasty, especially the 3 sauce combo at the end
Yum! Everything looks fantastic
YAY you're finally back!! I've been looking forward to you gracing us with another banging recipe 😃
☺️ glad to be back, thank you! Actually shared our first official “back to CZcams video” last week if you haven’t seen it!
@@RainbowPlantLife Oh, I must've missed it. Just glad to know back, already looking forward to what you're planning to share with us next 😋
Two months on vegeterian life and I am still trying to cook properly tofu. Not there yet, but I am glad that I found your recipes and I can try different variations till manifest at least one 🤞
always enjoy your videos
Glad I watched this before going to the grocery store! I want to make ALL of those sauces!
Everything you made in this video looks amazing but that citrus chipotle sauce is calling my name,!!! Thanks for all the great recipes!! 😍
Lovely recipes! Thank you. 🙏
I've been binging your videos lately and I love your creativity and style! The one thing I really dislike though is how you put cilantro in everything! Can you make a video one day with alternative recipes for people who hate cilantro as much as I do?
This all sounds amazing!!
You are really good at this.
so good!
Thank you for this! Great ideas for tofu
Recipes are excellent (as always) and I plan to try them all, and the video has your usual wit, style, and ease-of-understanding! Glad you are back, and as excellent as ever. 👏
As far as the Aldi sponsorship, I’m a little surprised, but I trust you are being truthful and honest about your opinions, so I have no direct criticism of you accepting the sponsorship. I will say that personally I have 4 other grocery stores closer than the nearest Aldi, and a Trader Joe’s that is just a little bit further, and *every* time I have tried shopping at Aldi I have had to go to another grocery store to finish up because the Aldi didn’t have several items on my list. My time (and gasoline) have value, so driving farther to then have to drive to yet another store to finish shopping costs more than any minor savings I might have realized at Aldi, so I have ignored Aldi since 2002.
As a German it is cool to see that you like Aldi too. I will definitely try some of the Tofu sauces. 👍
Yes! Love to hear that :) thanks Stephan!
Lol talking about using your senses to make adjustments reminds me of when my husband asks me if something is done and I tell him to please use his eyes and his brain to try to figure it out 🤣
I think that’s a universal husband trait 😂
Looks great, can't wait to try it. Especially the spicy peanut sauce.
Glad you’re back.
cant wait to make thios and sauces soon for me i never had tofu skewers before i dont have aldi in Singapore perfect for my after office meals
Hi Ramya! Hope you’ll enjoy the grilled tofu skewers!
This cashew cream is my new favourite staple!!!! Thank you!
I love tofu-thanks so much for all the tofu tricks n recipes 🍩💕☕️
When you mentioned Kindred, I instantly got so excited. It is the BEST AND MOST UNQIUE vegan restaurant in San Diego! Also, I will definitely be making these soon!
I made the peach salsa and it was absolutely amazing
Weighing down the tofu with Kenji's book made me smile. 😀
Wonderful recipe, will try for sure!
I'm not a vegan, but I love big flavors and the balance you bring to your recipes and I keep finding myself unintentionally eating vegan more often. Thank you my dear! 😋
Yummy!!!! Can’t wait to do and try all of them 💕
Glad to hear you’re excited to try them! ☺️
I like to sautee the garlic and ginger before I add them to the peanut sauce. Coconut milk is a good addition as well.
Cant wait to try this!
These look delicious.
I used to hate Tofu until I learnt how to cook it, now I love it!
Definitely! it’s all about how you prepare it! It can be boring and flavorless or extremely delicious!
This episode was great!
Yum all those sauces sound delish! Wish we had an Aldi in Tasmania 😔
Made the peanut sauce for my pita chips I got. Amazing
I love all your recipes
That salsa sounds so good!
absolutely love the introduction!!!
Everyone of those sauces looks delicious 😋
Thanks for sharing.
Its not a secret that I don't like Tofu, but you changed the game with this recipes, even my doubtful husband nibbled and loved the pistachio dip. So a huge Thank you from my end ❤️
Edit: I added two teaspoons of arrowroot starch to make the tofu crispy
First off, great video as usual and Ty for sharing your adventures in leafy goodness. Between this, howtodrink and the JHS pedal show... Life is good. Now to BBQ some tofu.
Peace and stay safe
Ooooo my gosh, I KNEW they looked like the Kindred ones! I'm so excited to make it at home. ^_^
I can’t wait to try this recipe at a cookout this weekend. The sauces alone look amazing.
Additionally, you get 4 out of 5 nunchakus (nunchucks) for making a subtle TMNT movie reference in the beginning of your video. You get docked a nunchaku for not including the color orange and putting the movie still over that to honor Michelangelo’s orange mask.
Cowabunga, dudette.
In Indonesia we have so many tofu brands that delicious as it is. Its a versatile dish that I can eat everyday
Ohhhh....that Citrus Chipolte Sauce is going to be on my grilled tofu this weekend!!!! Love this video!
I am glad that you are back! I am going to bbq some tofu ASAP
Thank you. Happy 4th of July.
Amazing! When in doubt more sauce recipes please 😁🙏🏽
Haha good to know! Good sauces are key!
Amazing that I just made a tequila lime marinade for tofu 🤤, and here you are with tofu marinade recipes!!! Definitely doing your pesto sauce. 😁😋
yum
Reminds me of a dish I had at Kindred in North Park. So delish!!!
Oh yes! I mention in the video it’s inspired by that dish! It’s my fave one at kindred.
@@RainbowPlantLife Haha, I saw that AFTER I commented lol. I love that place too. Need to go back sometime soon :)
Just made this, not on the grill but in the oven. Made it with the pesto and chipotle sauces and Kite Hill's sour cream. It was amazing! My boyfriend said it was the best vegan meal I've ever made! If you're looking for a fun, summery meal with lots of flavor--make this!
This is awesome! Do you have any suggestions for sauces that don't use onion and/or garlic? Thanks!
So happy to see you back and making me giggle with the whole French artist part - and way to go ninja turtles! 😄
As usual, everything looks and sounds amazing! 🥰
I have one tiny little suggestion/question for the future. I‘ve learned that apparently it‘s due to genetics if cilantro tastes „how it‘s supposed to“ or like soap ^^ unfortunately I belong to the latter camp… of course I can make assumptions and experiment 😊 But sometimes I‘d be very grateful to hear your opinion on which herb would suit best to substitute. If it‘s a garnish I don’t really bother, but in a pesto it makes me wonder 😄
However, I‘m aware that you might get asked about a thousands of „suggestions“, so just know that I love and appreciate your work either way ☺️
(BTW, I seemed to rock your Dal Makhani, my friends cooked it again like 2 days after having it at my place ☺️ - guess that‘s one of the best compliments ever 😄)
Hope you‘re having a great time and still find time to relax after your holiday 🌞
🥰 I’m glad you enjoyed the little touches! You’re so right about the need for subs for cilantro. I forget some folks have this intolerance because I just love it so much 🙊 For the pesto and chipotle sauce, I’d use flat leaf parsley. And same for the salsa - it’s unconventional to use parsley in salsa but I think the taste will still be nice, just different.
@@RainbowPlantLife Thank you so much Nisha! ❤️ can‘t wait to try them! ☺️
Great video!
Aldi has the cheapest produce in my area right now, too! Great recommendation.
I watched this and learned. I will probably never cook tofu exactly like this or add all these wonderful sauces (some sauces I think I will make - time, money ... ), but I learned to really barbecue the tofu well. What a difference from the wobbly tofu I've made before! I'm impatient so I slice my tofu and squeeze the liquid out of every piece by hand. Yesterday I marinated it in a little oil, light soy sauce and lots of harissa powder and then barbecued until firm and dry on the surface on a well prepared grill. What a difference from before! A tiny change in technique and it's actually tasty and pleasant to eat. Thank you!
More delicious ideas from my favorite vegan...thank you
