- So Slash has not left Marshall amps and will continue to be a Marshall artist while also having a new signature amp made by Magnatone Amplification.
This is a correction to a previous video.

I am very happy that you own up to your mistakes, and that you are not saying things like “Other news outlets got confused as well. So I am not in the wrong for believing he was gonna leave”.
Actually, that's exactly what he did. "myself and many, many other publications...". Then he displayed screen shots of several "other" posts from those "other" publications. Then he proceeded to make half a dozen further 'speculations' about why it 'might not be a 'bad thing' that I was wrong'. I wouldn't exactly call that "owning it". More like a weak attempt at justification for jumping to conclusions. Well... plus all those other jumps to various conclusions that followed.
All that needed to be said was ... I'm sorry. I was wrong, I guess the old saying about what happens when we "assume" is true. Then leave it alone.
@@sagraver8442 Yeah. In this situation it is all over the news that he was wrong and finally his usual "modus operandi" - presenting his assumptions as facts - caught up with him. He was wrong on more than one occasion, but since those topics are not covered by big media outlets, he does not feel the need to correct it. To be fair he did it pretty cleverly because despite actually proving what was said about him before - i.e.: he misrepresents information and makes up stuff - people in the comment section still praise him as some sort of moral superhero.
Why u so mad, mates?
Deleting the old video immediately as well... that's damage control, right?
Refreshing to see a content creator correct their mistake and own it. Much respect 👍
to be fair; the blacked out labels on the amps from the music video was really weird for him to also still be partnered with Marshall
Common KDH W. Even when he's wrong, he'll admit it openly 👏
No, he does not.
The fact that you made this video makes you more legit than most major news sources thank you!
This shows a lot of integrity on your part for catching this and posting an update. Good video.
Kirk Hammett I think was one of the more notable examples having both ESP and Gibson lines
Saying "I was wrong" is a sadly lost art.
Slash is no longer a person, but a brand. He knows this. The more pies he can stick his fingers in, the more stable his financial future is. Making music doesn't guarantee a pay cheque. Another "signature amp" from Slash is the Amplitube pack. I would argue this is probably the best value for money if you're looking to replicate his sound.
"The system goes online August 4th, 1997. Human decisions are removed from strategic defense. Slashnet begins to learn at a geometric rate. It becomes self-aware at 2:14 a.m. Eastern time, August 29th."
Slash is leaving sausage rolls and getting pies! This is a big news restojon. What pie is Slash's fave? If he's sticking his fingers in them I hope he washed his hands...
Number one best-selling debut album of all time... owns countless collectible guitars worth into the millions. He doesn't have a scarcity of cash or assets, he just would like more of it.
@@albertplaysguitar Dude, he is on a almost nonstop stadium tour since 2016. I think is future is secure without dual endorsement deals.
sounds similar to the polyphia situation, but at a bigger scale. tim has his own neuraldsp plugin, but tim and scott also endorse marshall and use their amps in live situations.
think they just use the power section with their tones coming from the Quad Cortex, they used to do that with Orange amps, before they were invited over by Marshall
Once again proving why you're the best source for music news, love your work
When I hear dual endorsement of amps, I'm thinking one is a lead/overdriven amp and a separate clean amp, similar to Eric Johnson using Marshall for his rhythm and lead tone and a Fender or SSS(at least back in the day) for clean.
He should have give a try to racks: Marshall Poweramps have a killer clean sound when used with a Mesa preamp... And Triaxis V1 and V4 both have a Marshall channel (replaced by a Rectifier channel on V2 and V3) while the Rhythmn Green is a Blackface channel...
This is the very reason that I subscribed: honesty ! It goes a long way.
Someone in the comments to your now unlisted video called it correctly. Kudos to that person, whoever they were.
You pretty much said it at the end of the video.
I think what confused people is that he doesn’t have a signature amp with Marshall, even though he is still endorsing them, and is now having Magnatone essentially make him a Marshall clone.
Why not just have Marshall make a new signature amp?
What I’ve seen from other multi-endorsement deals, is that both brands offer very different products. (Townsend with Framus and Kiesel, Metallica with ESP and Gibson etc)
Thanks for always keeping us updated on the latest news!
Fair enough. Everyone pretty much drew that same line.
Really appreciate the moral compass of this channel. ✊️
We all make mistakes, every single day. It's not the mistakes that matter - it's how one handles those mistakes that truly count. Ya done good here.
But this should be a reminder to all to avoid jumping to conclusions when none of us have access to the actual, relevant facts...
That's something we all need to be reminded of.
Don’t worry KDH. You made a mistake, you owned up to it, that makes you better than most media outlets. You still rock!
Good integrity to correct your last video - we all love Slash and his art.
Yer the best KDH!
Kirk Hammett currently also has both Gibson and ESP signature guitars at the same time, I’ve found it weird that you didn’t mention that when talking about artists endorsing two brands at the same time.
No sweat dude, you worked with the information you had. Got it wrong, 'fessed up, no foul. 👍
I used to be on the Marshall vintage modern forum and their designer was a regular contributor.
He stated NO Marshall artist got or gets paid any endorsement money from them - what they got was 24hr, 7 days a week, 365 days a year service - anytime any place anywhere.
(He didn’t make any reference to a percentage of sales on signature amps, or freebies).
The connection between Magnatone and Slash is Billy Gibbons
Mike Stringer from Spiritbox is another case of "multiendorsement" - Jackson and Aristides
This isn't Slash's first dual endorsement either. For at least 5 years now, probably longer, Slash has been rocking various BC Richs in his live performances, the most recognizable one being a green quilted top custom shop Bich 10 string, but he's recently been going around using a non-USA Stranger Things edition Warlock. BC Rich have been posting about the guitars he uses, they just haven't released a Slash model yet.
There was no mistake and nothing happens without a plan in marketing. They knew exactly that both brands will benefit from this, and even Slash and his music will suddenly become more interesting, as guitar enthusiasts will engage with it again.
I think that Slash would use the Magnatone for the lower gain, up to crunchy stuff whereas the Marshall is for the higher gain rhythm and leads.
Good of you to rectify!
The word to look for with endorsement announcements is 'exclusively'.
Every company will make it seem - in tone of voice - that this is the case, but only seeing this word makes it official
Good on you for admitting a mistake and correcting it. This is a trait sorely lacking in media and frankly, society in general. 👏 👏
Kirk Hammett is sponsored by ESP for his shredding guitars and Gibson for his vintage guitars. 🤘
I think Kirk Hammett has agreements with both ESP and Gibson simultaneously. He released signature guitars with both companies lately.
This will happen more often now. Unless they say they are leaving you can't assume. Just like Hammett and mustaine
Good for you for being quick to correcting yourself. Wonder if Philip Mcknight will or Beato. At least thats what they’re videos are labeled with as of not too long ago here.
Philip admits that he remembers never reading he LEFT Marshall. So cool.
He's done this before. Remember the Guild Crossroads double neck?
Great job correcting this.
Good update!
I think it's interesting that he doesn't have an exclusive endorsement clause on his deal with Marshall (and Magnatone, I guess).
Thanks for the update. Peace
Clever PR imo. They knew keeping it vague would get the reaction it got.
I was immediately a bit sceptical when you released your video and there was no word anywhere that this would be an exclusive partnership. Having a journalistic background, it’s just better to stick to what’s actually confirmed and to specifically outline what is up to speculation at that point. Good for you on making that correction, I’m sure it will be a “lessons learned” situation. 🙂
Like a lot of youtubers, he wanted to be the "first" to break the news and be the cool kid on the block 🤦♂️.
Do you think his team was like "Don't mention Marshall, everyone will freak out, numbers will be great!"
I was wondering where the press release was or any documentation for you to make that video originally that's the difference between a real journalist and a rumor news source on CZcams I watched your content for years so you do a great job just chalk it up as a learning experience that you don't want to make claims like that without solid verification
Magnatone are an interesting boutique brand, some nice publicity for them, but I couldn't see Saul ditching his jubes and 800s anymore I could his Gibson LPs.
I’d also like to add that some artists use multiple amps on stage and in the studio.
Mark Tremonti uses/has used Bogner, PRS and Mesa Boogie on stage.
Joe Perry uses multiple amp brands on stage.
Dave Grohl uses/used to use both Mesa Boogie and Vox amps.
They do this because it gives a wider range of sound.
Bill Kelliher with Friedman and Victory amps is an example
If you ask me, this only shows how good it is that legacy media is going down the toilet. You'd never see an apology like that from CNN, BBC, Fox, or the rest of them.
Well done for being quick to issue an apology video. Class!
The assumption wasn't originally unfounded. In the past when an Artist announces a new partnership with a new company it would typically mean they are leaving the previous company. I still think that is more the rule than the exception because a lot of manufacturers want some level of exclusivity from their endorsees. The few that are collaborating with other companies (Kirk Hammett being another one) all have a high enough profile that I think they can get away with this with not much pushback.
I feel better now.
Kirk Hammett endorses multiple guitar brands
No worries KDH .
Devin also has a signature acoustic by Prestige. So he’s got at least 3.
Really Love your channel. I appreciate your view and opinion. Thank You
No biggie. Kirk Hammet has a duel endorsement with ESP & Gibson. I think James is gonna do it too
I’m certain we are going to be seeing many more bigger underground type artists “endorsing” more than one brand of the same piece of kit. I think consumers are more aware now that these endorsements aren’t really preference as much as being given very expensive custom one of a kind instruments for free. No one is gonna pass up that bag if the brand they already get paid by give it the go ahead. I really don’t think any of this is really all that notable. Gotta keep up with any sort of news cycle though. It is YT after all. We NEED more content!
Devin Townsend asked Framus if it would be okay and they were cool with it
everyone is wrong sometime. good on you for owning yours.
Mike McCready(Pearl Jam) has both a signature Strat and a Les Paul. Jimmy Page has a signature Tele and a Les Paul. This isn't something that hasn't been done before.
Slash will feature the Magnatone Amps when he releases his upcoming blues solo album and then be back to Marshall for his GNR/Conspirators work..
It has happened with big stars before though. Both Clapton and Gilmour both have/had signature guitars from both Fender and Martin. Ok, they're known as electric and acoustic makers respectively but both have made both.
To be fair, Slash didn’t really mention ANYTHING to begin to announce the Magnatone deal on his own social media. You’d also think he would have come out and made it clear from the get-go with his media announcement through guitar outlets that he’s not leaving Marshall. Even after his clarification posted through guitar media outlets, it is very odd that Slash still hasn’t even mentioned the new Magnatone thing on his social media, nor did he make the clarification about staying with Marshall on his social media. Not really sure what that’s all about. Usually players are all thrilled (and often even required) to talk about their endorsements on their socials.
I am really glad that he’s not leaving Marshall - I mean Slash without Marshall would just be like PB without the jelly.
He didn't need to say he didn't leave. It made no mention of it anywhere during any of this. People just made the assumption based on zero logic.
Ron Thal already ended with a Gibson endorsement at the same time as a Vigier one when he was in Guns'n'Roses...
Gosh, the Guns were more interesting when they had a real good guitarist...
Any way, the best amplifiers I ever had were... Using a Marshall stereo tube poweramp with a Mesa preamp and TL806/EVM12L cabs... Thus, there may have been some little mods applied to the amp and the preamp, there are some capacitors that I love the grain and the fact they let micro details go through others don't, which end into ALL my amps.
Yeah how do you have dual endorsement,? Confusing... Actually a lot of artists are using Speakers with Technology that is a simulator of several different types of tube AMPS. This not lugging large speaker cabs with heads... So Marshall may be on way out. Personally I like the wall of Cabinets... Cheers 🍻 🥃🥃 🎸 🎵🎶
Average Absolute class move from KDH
Jim root has a signature charvel while still endorsed and using his fender signatures.
That’s a bit different, because Charvel is owned by fender.
he's probably started watching "that pedal SHow" and loves the idea of wet dry and have to different amps for the sound ;-) ;-)
Yes............ Respect.
Correct me if I’m wrong but doesn’t Zakk wylde use marshalls live in stereo with wylde audio amps?
Yvette young is endorsed by Ibanez and Yamaha with Yamaha being acoustic/keys I believe
I dunno, say what you will about Slash but as a marketing brand he's been one to brand his name on experimental gear that might not have sold well had it not been for his endorsement to the consumer (Silver Jubilee, Alnico 2 humbuckers in modern sound, the Les Paul design in the 80s). The gear is good and scratches and itch consumers didn't know they had, but companies deem it not worth risking unless they can get a large enough consumer base to justify the product existing. Slash loans his name, and new consumers try out the gear that only slightly deviates from tried and true methods. I imagine the deal with Magnatone is more about filling a specific niche that Marshall didn't seem as worth the risk of investing in, and given how everybody was quick to jump on Marshall failing to live up to their name (guitar news LOVES tearing down old companies right now) it makes sense why they wouldn't wanna risk it
Perhaps you could edit the previous vid and make it available, there was a lot of good content about Marshall in there independent of the Slash news?
As the old adage says: "When you assume, you accept that something is true or will happen, often without knowing all the facts"
And Paul Gilbert has a signature pedal from TC Electronic and also JHS...
You say that Slash is rich and I’m sure he is but remember that the reason he agreed to rejoin Guns N Roses was because he’d lost a massive chunk of his wealth due to his divorce, so don’t discount financial benefit
Yep, he paid dearly for not doing a prenup.
He lost 6m plus 1.2m per year unless she remarries, plus he has to pay money to the kids until 2036 (not sure why that is, one of them's an adult now?!). Although a sizeable chunk of money, it's small compared to his fortune.
As he divorced her, and as the amount paid was a recommendation put forward by his legal team, he got what he wanted. Dont feel too sorry for him.
Is it something similar to Tosin Abasi while he also designed a guitar for EBMM but owns his own company?
The mistake is absolutely understandable. It also shows how misleading industry marketing has become. Think about the statement "I only run Marshals", or "I only play a Fender". Unless you are an absolute beginner, I have never seen a musician that only goes with/ owns a single manufacturer and I can't think of a guitarist that doesn't desire both a Les Paul and a Stratocaster. Yes, I have go to's for certain signature tones, but I think sticking to one brand only would be hugely limiting and statements otherwise a BS. I think the more correct endorsement would be something like "When I'm going for that Les Paul sound, I only play a Gibson". Thanks for keeping it real.
Which is it? Is the company endorsing the artist of is the artist endorsing the company and the products? I have always assumed it was the artist endorsing the product but have seen it explained both ways.
Fair play
Tosin has his own guitars and the music man signature he has.
If i’m not getting wrong Mark Tremonti had his first PRS signature amp while he still endoser Mesa Boogie.
You know what this is guys? This is integrity, and it’s why I watch KDH.
Assuming gets another one
Dammit KDH, stop fukin' with me! lol j/k :P
Unlisting your previous video in an honorable move, respect!
I think if youre someone like Slash you'll have flexibility to endorse as many brands as you like...he's been pretty actively endorsing BC Ritch guitars for years while being a Gibson Ambassardor. Kirk Hammet seems to continue to have ESP signature guitars while recently bringing out a Gibson signature. Unfortunately probably won't be the case for the small fry artists where brands will want exclusive deals. I was almost certain it never meant he'd ditch the Marshalls, not after 30 years and probably being one of the most iconic Marshall artists! As for reasons, yes it could be money, it could be that Magantone are US based and it makes them more accessible to consumers at home (try buying an amp on a different continent these days...) , but its very likely that he just likes the amp. Its super cool he's doing a new amp as there hasnt been one for a while... just have a bad feeling it will cost a pretty penny
James hetfield and Kirk have both endorsed esp and Gibson for yonks. Kiss did Greco in Japan and Gibson in the US in the 70s. Nothing new.
It's like Kirk Hammett having both Gibson and ESP signatures I guess.
36 subs forever, nicely said KDH.
You have integrity. This is a good thing. You do a great job of maintaining transparency and honest reviews. Keep up the good work!
Knopfler endorsed Fender Gibson Martin Schecter and Pensa all at the same time I think
Might have been on purpose, for marketimg, to keep significant information open.
NAMM visit in January, KDH?
Yep
How many players now have amp endorsements but use amp sim software on stage now?
I think dual endorsements are more believable than “I ONLY PLAY GIBSON”
Wow! Oh well!
Reminds me of the tosin thing, with ernie ball and his own company
I don't think you got it wrong...EVERYBODY got it wrong! No biggie KDH. Thanks for the vids!
Nice "Sam Ash" T-Shirt ! 😍😊
Cheers ✌️ 🤙 🇨🇦
I'm gonna wait for the Bruno Mars Marshall amp!!
