I had a 66 chevy II wagon kinda similar to that patinaed out green beasty wagon. But mine was blue. No tail gate or rear winder. Ended up putting it on a 84 gmc long bed 4x4 truck chassis. I had to cut off three inches an do some welding to get the rear to fit. I already had a 455 buick bolted to a 9.1 4 speed stick with a harley brake handle hooked to a cable fed down to the clutch. My uncle ray showed me how to make my own quick stick to save from having to cut a hole an fabricate a frame for the assebly and parts of the clutch pedal that connects the same way to a brake handle on the shifter. Instead of a knob. Be smart bout yer build. Treat it right an fix it up right an you will most likely end up with a car that with you alone could become notorious, hated, loved, wanted, and desired by a good lot fer racing that gives you a legendary car. You just gotta build em yerself an learn to drive that monster well enuff to take on an take off from challengers of that ugly cheap beater eater sleeper beast. I know my way of typin may seem a bit off. But i miss getting to build monsters. Its a love hate obsession that comes to you, the more you do it, the more you will want to be remembered fer sumthin.
Our ideas of a sleeper are very different, you class it as a look, I look deeper. To me a true sleeper, not only looks the part, but sounds and plays the part. Of the ones you showed, the green Nova (1:46) and the white ford truck (2:50) are what i call true sleepers. Both look very stock, except the wheels (slicks) which i understand are for safety and traction. But the sound also fits a sleeper, the idle is very stock sounding and both are quiet enough to pass a Cop on the street, without a ticket for noise. Put a set of street tires on either and you'd never be the wiser, unless you look under the hood. Here to me is the perfect sleeper, it has the look sound and performance to be a true sleeper. Anyone who take's a car like that to the track to race should really be serious about what he's doing . the Faux Luggage is just over the top ..the crazy glued beer bottle on the rear wing was funny as well for like 5 minutes .. come on guys really ..
To me these are rat rod cars it’s all about having fun driving and racing against others the paint isn’t perfect but it doesn’t matter as long as you enjoy it for what it is
El Guapo yes the racers get a ticket but the boards remain off during N/T events and during grudge races. All about secrecy. They don’t really pop their hoods or show engines or tell combos either
