This exciting coverage of the Byron Wheelstand Contest 2017 is one of the most exciting events ever! You will see the legend Brian Ambrosini and his orange AMC Gremlin do a 800+ foot wheelie and Jason Schubert take his 1978 Old Cutlass over the wall to try and win this event for the $10,000 cash prize offered.

Thanks Franz, I'm glad you like the videos I'm putting out! And yes that black truck was about the craziest thing I have ever seen. I found out later that his left front wheel actually locked up from slamming down like that and was dragging the whole way after that. You can see some white smoke coming off of it the further he goes down the track. Pretty wild. TomEighty

Sad the hemi under glass was taken out of retirement a year or so ago for that show “jay Leno’s garage” or whatever it is and he rolled it

I have a Hot Wheels Little Red Wagon. I never saw it in person. I did see Hemi Under Glass though along with some other wheelstanders that had engines way in back so it wasn’t a big deal to stand them up. Hemi Under Glass I believe his engine was in the middle. I understand the Little Red Wagon had engine in the middle right behind the cab with separate rear brake levers so he could control it with front end in the air. I think they were all set up similar.
I also saw four engine dragsters - I don’t even know how they were set up. They weren’t really that hot. Novelty stuff in early 70s.
Best of all I got to witness E.J.Potter the Michigan Madman on his big block Chevy motorcycle kicking it off the center stand going side to side all four lanes and doing 200 mph. You wouldn’t believe it if you saw it.

Thanks for watching Keri! And yeah I must admit that was one of the coolest things I have seen at a wheelie contest. I found out afterwards that he actually locked up the left front tire when he put all that weight on it, so when you see the white smoke coming from it he is just moving and the left front tire is not spinning at all. I would take that damage any day considering what could have happened. TomEighty

My grandfather drove a red Gremlin in the early 80s. Never crossed my mind at that time that I would ever see one do a wheelstand, much less for 885'.
That's awesome. Yes the driver of the Gremlin in this videos is amazing. I'm sure not too many people could pull off what he did. The Gremlin is not the perfect car for a wheelie contest. TomEighty

Constructive advice for the future, if I may. Not sure who did the editing on this video, but maybe a little less staging and approach time in the next one. Two seconds of wheelie footage, per car, but 20 seconds (or more sometimes) of watching each one creep up to the line... Eight minutes of wheelies in 37 minutes.
