In May of 2016 American Outlaws Live went down at Texas Motorplex in Ennis, Tx. Due to Discovery Channel filming that weekend for an episode of Street Outlaws, we were not allowed to post any of our full event coverage footage and archived it. Well in 2019 here is Part 5 of our 5 Part Series from the 2016 No Prepish event down in Texas! This was a 32 car invitational with the remaining 2 cars being added from Fridays Race Your Way in Big Tire shootout!

Well filmed and edited racing is never old. Thanks for posting this. This was before the tv producers changed a bunch of rules to accommodate their “stars”.
What rules changed?,just curious
The NPK series specifically. They made big block twin turbo cars carry a lot of extra weight prompting racers like Birdman and Larry Larson to try huge single turbos. Unfortunately neither was able to match their prior performance levels.
Oh, and they also outlawed full composite pro mod type cars.

Welcome to the world of Drag racing, looks like you guys finally got it right. Glad to see you all got off the streets. Thank God for Wally Parks, he saved a lot of lives, probably yours and mine!

Would be nice to have a narrator telling us who the drivers are. So few have names on the cars. I know many, but not all. Step it up for us watchers!

Not sure how “no prep” this race really was. It didn’t look like the track was scraped before the race. There was a lot of rubber down which was a huge advantage to the higher HP cars.
Dan Myers it was noprepish. NHRA wouldn’t let the event take place at that sanctioned track without prep being put down from 330’ and out. But it was applied only once in the morning and not touched the remainder of each day.
If they would have scrapped it that would be prepping!
It was scraped thurs and when funny car went down it had about a inch of dust all on starting line. The street would have been better. No one was making down lots of close calls, boostedgt was one of the fastest first passes of the weekend

What is the purpose of that blinker fluid they squirt under the tires before the burnout?
So the car doesnt hook. The burnout just cleans the tire and lays some rubber down, if you back into your own track, the track is tackier. The water helps save the clutch. Oldschool drivers would do dry hops, to test the launch, but I havent really seen that since the gasser days.

You see exactly what happens when your NOT square in the hole .. You leave left or right when you don't line up straight . He was going left the minute he left the line..because he was NOT lined up from jump..Can anyone please tell Me why The 405 guy still have that hood on his car when he's got a pair of twins under the hood ...He still has his Dominator hood scoop ..

Camera at the finish line and the respective times would be greatly appreciated.
All of those numbers are for paying customers who sit in the risers / bleachers. They can see them. The camera man is not facing the score board, so that's why you don't see it. Cameras at the finish line cost money. Respective times are on the score board.

In grudge racing and N/T racing there is only a win light. At this track it’s the white bulbs on the pole of the scoreboards

Cool racing, and Street Outlaws is a fun show, and I have loved and participated in drag racing my entire life, but to attach the word street to any of it should embarrass the participants. It is a disgrace to use the word street for many of the so called street classes. No prep is overused also.
I hate it that Docs Monte Carlo was destroyed he wasn't always the quickest but I love those old Monte Carlo's and I know he loved his too I hate it for him
