    I always start drinking water before I am thirsty. Most people don't realize that muscles burn water up while hiking.

    Always have my trail angels with me, named Jackson and Franklin. Jackson is on the $20 and Franklin is on the $100 and they get me anything I need.

    Not drinking enough water also causes constipation. Hard to pack up and get moving until things happen. (Puns intended.)
    It’s happened to me twice - but NEVER AGAIN!
    I also hike all “go-go-go”without taking breaks. Got better about it last year. Baby steps :)
    My fears are definitely food and warmth. (Also I am always worrying about site availability!)
    Great video - knew most of these, but you definitely gave me a couple good reminders of things I can work on before the AT - thank you!

    Good tip about putting wet clothes in the sleeping bag. Never would have occurred to me

    Excellent advice! People tend to bundle up to sleep warm but with a down quilt, it doesn’t work! Thanks for the great content!

    Great video! I just got a new tent very excited to get out hiking around the ice age trail in Wisconsin this September! God bless you!

    Another one is having the wrong backpack for your body type. Your favourite CZcamsr's favourite pack might not work for you. Which is how some folks end up with stuff hanging off the outside. They've got an Ultralight pack, but the gear inside isn't 😉

    I always use rubber tips, never been a problem, plus l see a lot more wildlife without the clickity clack

    Great video. You've had some great post AT advice. It seems counterintuitive, but the advice about being nekkid in your sleeping bag is spot on.

    Great information, as always. Yes a thin layer of Smart Wool at night is better than too many layers. Synthetic or down bootees are also good. And keep that filter warm. Thanks for sharing.

    One pound jar of peanut butter can last a day. Add garden crackers and honey is good survival food for more than a day. Buffalo Systems clothing from the U.K. better than layering. I used in Iceland in cold and rainy weather. Works great. Used in zero degree temps while hiking at home. I was warm. DuckWorth clothing great too. Thanks for sharing very important info.

    Happy Easter. Frozen filter happened to me from just hiking in freezing temps. Carrying water is a tough one as last year in a number of states really bad dried up water sources, so I carried at least 2 liters. Definitely, great information and happy trails.🤘🏻🥾⛰️

    Great information, maybe for future vlogs you could cover the amount of food that you carry and how you resupply. Do you have freeze-dried food and other supplies shipped or do you buy it as you go? In the military we used to put our wet clothes in our sleeping bags on top of the liner to dry overnight also. One morning there was one dude who did not and in the morning he was standing there holding his frozen pants looking like cardboard, I really felt bad for him because he had to put them on.🙄😆.

    So one of two liters of water, not good. One or two liters of cheeseballs, all good... Z-Pack tents need certain poles, right? Water filter freezing, not cool, hadn't thought about that. Thanks for all the great advice in your videos.

    You can definitely tell the difference hiking with one vs. two Smart bottles full of water.

    Medications freezing or getting too hot is a mistake people make. I am a Type 1 Diabetic and have to do insulin injections several times daily. Insulin can be damaged by freezing and getting too hot and I have met hikers that have issues from this. All medications need to be protected. 🥾🥾🥾

    you had me until you described how too many layers would create the "problem" of keeping the outer layer cold - the outer layer never getting your body heat is a good thing, as it means all the heat is remaining inside and therefore isnt radiating away.

      @hikingdancer  Před rokem

    • @styleisaweapon
      @styleisaweapon Před rokem

      @@hikingdancer I guess you still dont know why you are grossly wrong and, because you wont even consider being wrong, are also dangerously uninformative. Hope nobody ever dies of exposure because your dumb ass said its possible to have too many layers and that the test is if the outer layer is cold when its too many layers, so strip off layers until you are losing all your heat. For christ sakes little child. Feeling it and Believing it are not the same as Knowing it. What we Know, is the nothing has EVERY violated the laws of thermodynamics but your theory about how the universe works just casually takes it for granted that the laws are wrong ... for christ sakes little girl... I did the politce thing with ya here and all I did was hit the wall of "not listening dont care whatever" behavior. For christ sakes.
