How Stem Cell Therapy Heals Cancer and Immune System

  • Doctors in the U.S. and throughout the world are beginning to use stem cell therapy to try and cure all sorts of diseases. The early stages of stem cell research began a few decades ago and today many scientists are advocating for stem cells as a potential future of preventative and therapeutic medicine. Reporter David Nazar with PBS interviews Doctor Hans Keirstead who is a leading expert in this field and a world renowned stem cell researcher specializing in therapy development for various cancers and immune disorders. Keirstead is a professor of anatomy and Neurobiology and he founded and directed the Sue and Bill Gross Stem Cell Research Center at the University of California Irvine. Dr. Keirstead was a founding advisor of the California Stem Cell Initiative and today he is the CEO of AIVITA Biomedical in Irvine California. Nazar talks to Dr. Keirstead about how he is using stem cell therapy to heal various cancers as well as to slow the aging process and improve the immune system.
