Not quite. There are about 50 differences between the two aforementioned camcorders.
We will try and create another video addressing what you say.
Your comments help us make better videos - thanks :)

24p/30p/60i
Sony G-series lens
20X optical zoom
NTSC DV/HDV
HVR-Z5E (preliminary) features:
3-CMOS image sensors (Exmor processing)

Sony G-series lens
20X optical zoom
*NTSC/PAL DV/HDV/DVCAM

I'm about to splash out on a 'pro' cam. I love the look of this, but it is tape only. The external recorder is another £500. The Z7 looks nice but it is pricey and only has 1/3 chips..why not give it 1/2 inch sensors? The interchange lens feature is not so attractive because of this limitation. So will it be the Z5 or Z7? There are a lot of beans at stake here, so I have to make the right choice.
the joke with the g spot was hilarious
With the limitations of bandwidth, a video that shows the true picture quality online would be impossible. You can get a better idea on our web site as we have better resolution videos than CZcams defaults to.
Ultimately, if you are in the UK, come and visit us and see for yourself.
Yes you can. If you view the Sony HVR-Z5E on our web site and click on Optional you can see the Wideangle, FishEye and Telephoto adaptors.
There is a link to the product in the info box (top right).
Peace
woow nice looking Z5E
Thanks for the tutorial.
very helpful review. What are the differences between this and the z7?
G-spot. Love it!
It’s looking tempting...
How long can the FLASH card record for?
I’ve been using standard DV tapes and HDV tapes in my last camera (Sony HDR-HC1E)…will these work or do I need to buy DVCAM tapes?
Is the HVR Z5 still PAl to NTSC switchable? There is almost no mention of it in the specs. If so, surely this is a HUGE difference from the FX1000
Does this work today still with modern laptops etc? Is it digital files? Tapes seems a bit to old school today...
Similarities between FX1000 and this?
Cuz to me they look kind a same.
Only it has that compact Memory adapter and i belive FX1000 doesnt have one...?
do you get a usb lead so you can put it on a computer and do u have to put a tape in?
how can i take a still picture in sony z5?
can you please tell sony forget about the rolling shutter issue, this is what they have to worry:JVC GY-HM100 can record 35Mbps FULL HD(1080P) and uncompressed audio to SDHC in the native QuickTime format used by FCP,HM100 will kill all tape recording HDV cam, sony have to react faster this time, either made a new cam that work like HM100 in 6 months or made the next optional SSD recorder for Z5 that can record in QuickTime,i been thinking to buy a Z5 but now i have to wait and see,so do something
can you put a wide angle lens on it also??
So, you mean CMOS is better than my FX1 3CCD, I don`t know about that.
What are your guys think. FX1 & Z1 are three years old but still beat the new models of any brand with 3CCD.
whats better? the HVR-Z5 or the HVR-Z7?
Does this use DV tapes or something else?
my school has 20 of these.. im in the TV Production program.. im one of the Camera men..
can you record HD on the flash memory ?
can you put a fisheye lens on it?
Why? Good question, work more..spend less?
Get into the saving habit to reach any goal
it is within ones reach, best of luck mate! :)

You get an HDMI capture card, preferably one that can do 1080@50i and connect the camera with HDMI cable to it
