I bought two of these a number of years ago. A great camera. I used Atomos Ninjas to capture the video. I made a lot of money with these. Videos from these stand up. I still have these clips in my portfolio. My son, shot his second feature film on these cameras.
@@jourwalis-8875 it has hdmi out so can capture Video via that output with a unit that takes hdmi in. It’s an awesome camera though I just use mine with tape still 👍
There is a cold shoe on the top that you can attach a light to. You can import to Final Cut, render, and upload to youtube. There is a flash drive 'box' you can buy to record to instead of tape, I'm not sure about the hard drive.
I haven't ran across many semipro, prosumer, or even pro cameras that record on HDD. The higher end JVC's run off of Solid State drives but they are 10,000 USD+. I am getting this this week and held it in the store today afternoon. It's a very nice camera which is sturdily built.
You can order one ($3200 ea.) from B&H in New York, Samy's in Calif or just go to SONY Style at one of their stores at a mall. Or online through any of the above retailers
the HDR-fx7 its the newer version of this and apparently works very well but you have to know what your doing you cant just film right out of the box you gotta set it up
The SR12? It's great at first but it's lacking a lot of things that I would want with the FX1000. The biggest thing I thought that the SR12 had was the ability to change the iris with the knob in the front but its only for whitebalance and focusing.
I have one myself. But you have to remember it´s not a professional camera. It is a "Handycam" and by that Sony means that it is an "amateur camera". Even if it is rather advanced, you can´t get professional pictures or broadcast quality from it. It has not even full HD (1080 x 1920). And now it is almost impossible to get hold of Mini-DV tapes.....
I noticed you've talked about connecting an external mic but where do you actually "place" the mic itself? No XLR's at all, right? We'll wait for your replay. Thanks a lot.
Don't really think that! They recieve these things to test, and have to give 'em back (most of the time). This is a good ad for every company who is willing to participate in such things. Tracy & Matt are always objective, impartial, and overviews items very briefly. ;)
i was just about to look more into buying this one until i found (thanks to this vid) that it uses tape for recording HD rather than what i'm looking for which is flash based recording oh well... thanks again for the upload
I have 3 of these cameras. They're good for event videography, such as weddings, quinceaneeras (sweet sixteens) or family reunions. I'll be buyibg a SONY EX3.
@nachotolu El error de la mayoría de las cámaras digitales CCD actuales es verse con puntos verdes y líneas similares a una interferencia analógica durante las tomas nocturnas.
@GleekItsOlly well, maybe yes but i don't think so, sony vegas is so expensive for coming with a camera... I got the sony hdr cx-305E and it didnt come with it
@HappyFilmer I couldn't agree with you more. I just finished my certification in Television Production, and all the buzz about built in hard drives , SD cards, and USB cables are marketing gags. MiniDV, just tape for the matter, records and sustains leaps of quality over all this electronic means of storage. People need to do their research...
NOOO I have a Sony HDR-SR12. I used it for a year and I'm upgrading to this baby. There's a huge difference. Don't waste your money getting the SR12 and upgrading later to the FX1000.
To the video poster, how good is the depth of field? I was deciding between this, the fx7, and the a1u and I decided to go with this. I can't find many HD depth of field videos with this cam.
@TheCallofDutyHelper yeah i understand and im not trying to hate on the fx1000 at all and i even said the1000 is better in different situations. because of its pro features. but the 5d shoots a little crisper video. and has a much better low light sensor. probably the better of most prosumer camcorders... why i have no idea.
Im still a little confused about the memory stick slot. a regular ms pro duo card is NOT capable of recording videos? If anyone could, would you please elaborate (:
i have the JVC and it sucks. D: i want this too, but it would take a LONG time so i'm probably getting the Sony DCR-TRV17. it's not as fantastic, but it's affordable - $350 i think
Hi, im thinking about buying one of these but was wondering if you can record in hd then output it to the computer for editing and transfer to dvd in standard defenition? many thanks
.Just saying I'm happy with factory firmware, but my one problem is I can't figure out how to turn off the zoom display.I have an Atomos field recorder monitor and all other displays are able to shut off except the zoom display. Can you please tell me if theres any way of turning off the zoom display as then I could record through the hdmi set up to the Atomos recorder. Thanks
my new computer dosent have the wirefire how i can tranfer via sub i allredy check on video store but i cant find a cable that goes from my camera to sub. help.
yeah, but minidv tapes aren't film, they're magnetized ribbons. Plus not everyone in the industry uses film. For example in Avatat they used 2 sony hdcp1, which are completely digital. And you know RED? That shit doesn't uses tapes or film, it uses red cards.
Got one last month and it’s still an epic camera in 2019! Screw 4K let’s go old school 😂
Is it worth for ppl to get into videotaping?
Στάθης Κουρδής yes if you can get a good deal for one on eBay I’d say get it! It’s an awesome camera 😊
@EthaanChristian Yeah, it works on a mac. You just firewire in and log and capture in FCP.
I bought two of these a number of years ago. A great camera. I used Atomos Ninjas to capture the video. I made a lot of money with these. Videos from these stand up. I still have these clips in my portfolio. My son, shot his second feature film on these cameras.
"Atomos Ninjas to capture the video"(?). What do you mean? And "made a lot of money with these"? Please explain!
I´m a filmmaker myself.

@DefiniteMC yes, you could use an external drive made that will mount on the camera

excellent video to share. I am thinking of buying this to shoot a documentary
I also have an SR12 and I'm looking at either getting the FX1000 or the Red Scarlet when it comes out.
I'm a 14 year old indie film student and I'm getting this next week! :D
dude that is one sick ass camara...
im so getting one of those later on...

@RDMSERVICES yes ofc you can just export in standard defenition on your software !

My friend have this cam and its so awsome.
@leodee there is a VERY BIG comparison actually.. You obviously haven't seen the 5D's video quality..
I noticed you've talked about connecting an external mic but where do you actually "place" the mic itself? No XLR's at all, right?
We'll wait for your replay. Thanks a lot.

@101seve It records to mini DV tapes.
@Eddieliebe Local camera shop in December 2009.
i was just about to look more into buying this one until i found (thanks to this vid) that it uses tape for recording HD rather than what i'm looking for which is flash based recording
oh well... thanks again for the upload
I will never forget the day I opened mine!!
still remember?
I have 3 of these cameras. They're good for event videography, such as weddings, quinceaneeras (sweet sixteens) or family reunions. I'll be buyibg a SONY EX3.
@nachotolu El error de la mayoría de las cámaras digitales CCD actuales es verse con puntos verdes y líneas similares a una interferencia analógica durante las tomas nocturnas.
@leodee i dont know about that my buddy has got one and the 1000 may be better for some situations but picture quality 5d is superior
@GleekItsOlly well, maybe yes but i don't think so, sony vegas is so expensive for coming with a camera... I got the sony hdr cx-305E and it didnt come with it
Hi, nice video. What is this camera good for compared to a.. for example Sony SR12E HD Camcorder? OR any other camcorder?
is there two different types of fx1000s because half the videos i see have a 3ccd and the others have 3cmos??
@HappyFilmer I couldn't agree with you more. I just finished my certification in Television Production, and all the buzz about built in hard drives , SD cards, and USB cables are marketing gags. MiniDV, just tape for the matter, records and sustains leaps of quality over all this electronic means of storage. People need to do their research...
@HitmanGTA4 you use a firewire cable
@ChaKaiProductions your thinking of the VX1000 probably, it doesnt have an lcd
i want that sooo baddd. :( I cannot wait till i can afford that! Thanks for the great vid! Greets from Holland
Firewire can transfer 1080p HD right?
NOOO I have a Sony HDR-SR12. I used it for a year and I'm upgrading to this baby. There's a huge difference. Don't waste your money getting the SR12 and upgrading later to the FX1000.
Does it work with mac?
my sony Hdr-xr500v handycam is very incompatible with my mac and it is REALLY annoying.
I am about to get this camera! this really helped me!
This camara is what i need for my films!!!!!
To the video poster, how good is the depth of field? I was deciding between this, the fx7, and the a1u and I decided to go with this. I can't find many HD depth of field videos with this cam.

@Eddieliebe I own a FX1000. I love it. 3000 Euros seems like you're paying too much. I got it for around 1900 Euros new.
hey can you put youre footage on youre pc with the cables you got or have you to buy someting else to do that
not if you want to record 4:2:2 or higher bitrate than 25mbps. Plus HDV only records at 1440x1080, not full 1080p resolution.
Im still a little confused about the memory stick slot. a regular ms pro duo card is NOT capable of recording videos?
If anyone could, would you please elaborate (:
is it any USB cable that you can put in your pc? instead of the tape?
im buying it but can it connect to a computer? instead of converting tapes?
Really great camera ! Thanks for video =)
i have the JVC and it sucks. D: i want this too, but it would take a LONG time so i'm probably getting the Sony DCR-TRV17. it's not as fantastic, but it's affordable - $350 i think
The camera didn't come with Sony Vegas 9?
Im new with these types of camera, but how can you get your videos on PC, if its records on tape ? :s
thats a pretty gnarly camera :)
That`s awesome! Why 1080i and not 1080p?
Please this camera is since..in 08??? do you think is Great camera, yo short movies?
Thanks a lot
Hi, im thinking about buying one of these but was wondering if you can record in hd then output it to the computer for editing and transfer to dvd in standard defenition?
many thanks
@sf987photo yes you upload it by firewire
.Just saying I'm happy with factory firmware, but my one problem is I can't figure out how to turn off the zoom display.I have an Atomos field recorder monitor and all other displays are able to shut off except the zoom display. Can you please tell me if theres any way of turning off the zoom display as then I could record through the hdmi set up to the Atomos recorder. Thanks
what about the lcd screen in sunlight? Is it still usable? I heard complains about it. Can someone gives it experience with this please?
@MartiSomozaa Oh I heard from a video that theirs came with Sony Vegas.
wait so do you have to shoot with a tape or does it have a San Disk Card?
so you say you can't use the sd memory card to have the videos on ?? or did you say we can use it to keep the videos on ???
@ArmyOfGamerZ DO YOU THINK the FX1000...is not good camera? because i want bay one..but I not sure...i will pay 3000...euros :-/
What Kind of Camera are you filming with?
Love this camera, one question though, what do you think about the sony hvra1u vs the fx 1000.
my new computer dosent have the wirefire how i can tranfer via sub i allredy check on video store but i cant find a cable that goes from my camera to sub. help.
I know its a stupid question. But is it better than the Nex Vg 10?
That's a whole different camera.
where i can fin this model
Sony HDR-FX1000
used one ?
Did i make a mistake buying the sony xr520ve?
basically the same as my hdr-fx1
how much is the memory card attatchment to record video???
it also adds automatic jazz music
Is this NTSC or PAL?
My camera is NTSC can I changed on Pal ?
Pleeasss Healp
Why do they make new camcorders that record to tapes? Digital is much better and on memory cards?
what about uploading to a mac (preferably final cut express or FCP)
its got those sweet spot auto-focus zooms tight?!!?!?!?
Which camera did you use to shot this clip?
@pranxter08 Hey! Where did you find the camera for that price?
Thanks in advance
Is this the same as the FX1?
how much is this camera now? new or used?
@ArmyOfGamerZ WHERE??????
what is the memory card to use wth
Sony HDR-FX1000
Can I send the footage I captured straight to my MAC?
Or is this camcorder just VCR?
Is this camcorder good to film skateboarding?
isnt sd card more convenient?
Can I use it to stream video live wireless to a beamer?
how much can i get this for?
and where?
i want a cheap price
do you get to keep everything you unbox?
This uses casettes?
thank you for this video
is it heavy?
Do you buy everything you do reviews on? That could get EXPENSIVE!
Was this new or used?
@ChaKaiProductions go to 8:15 and watch from there. You'll see LCD screen
is it standard 16:9 ratio?
how much did that cost?
can u put a fisheye on it
Wat piece i need to record from my sd card
how much does it cost
yeah, but minidv tapes aren't film, they're magnetized ribbons. Plus not everyone in the industry uses film. For example in Avatat they used 2 sony hdcp1, which are completely digital. And you know RED? That shit doesn't uses tapes or film, it uses red cards.
